You could try Junior Viewpoint which is not bad, and will run as a multi user database if you get the latest version. I have also used MangoData which on the surface looks OK I have ahad probloems with it so if I had to choiose I would go with Junior Viewpoint.

Maybe been covered before but is the power saving mode enabled on the USB hub itself (system properties -> hardware -> properties.

I had the same problem a few months ago with my father in laws slides, I eventually bought a good slide scanner and did them myself. Only had about 3-400 to do though. Does not take long doing them in batches. Had them printed in a book form by Jessops and it made a fantastic present for my wife. I used the Minolta Dimage Scan IV, which is now sitting spare after doing them all if you are interested on a deal. Has slide and negative scanner adaptors, but only works in XP.

Just noticed that you can download the notebook software only without having to bother installing the drivers etc. As far as installing the v10 software, I'll do it if I'm instructed to do so or at a point the teachers can show me thay are using v9.7 to its full potential. No point in giving them more features if they don't use the ones they already have at the moment.

Can't you just install the V10 notebook software only (you can do this with v9 so I suppose its still there in v10) on a laptop etc and then just load it up and save as a previous version? Same as you, not gone down the v10 route as of yet so can't confirm my suggestion.

We did look at specialist companies last year at BETT but this is to be a mobile unit (dvd player, amp, speakers, projector etc) and the big problem is money as usual.

Been having a Google and found this one, I know its not a major make (Hitachi, Sony etc) for projectors but looks quite good, any opinions...good or bad as usual ViewSonic PJ560D projector

The hall has curtains so its not that bad just not blackout conditions. Forgot to mention that been asked if any possible projectors that were suitable would come with a three year warranty and bulb warranty. I know its alot but thats the question I've been asked! Currently have this setup at another two schools and it works Ok'ish but with and epson S3 projector and an Optima 2000lumens projector. So for this school thought I would aim a little higher spec for the projector so looking for suggestions.

I know there have been other threads on the subject before but what projector could/should we get for our hall as they intend to run a film club soon. It is to be a mobile unit not fixed and unfortunately not a high budget as we are a primary approx £500-600. What kind of lumens should we be looking at (no pun intended!) for reasonable image quality if they can't shut all the curtains etc.

Thanks for that, anyone from or on YHGFL tried it?

Had the same problem, saves work no problem, but when re opening a project if I try from the redirected My Documents folder...error! but if I try from the users H:\ drive, exactly the same file, same location it behaves correctly! Now must be permissions or something as it works fine as it should when I try it another school from the redirected My Documents area! Just leart to work around it for the times we use it at the moment.

Can someone please check if they can get to the following Senior Management website: The Key — the service for School Leaders I'm trying it via the YHGFL connection and it just times out, called the people at the site and they say its upand running OK. Just need to check if its YHGFL problem or something else. Thanks

I could call the UK support and see I suppose. Does anyone know where or if the setting for which sound playback audio device is to be used as default is kept in the registry?

Seem to have solved the problem in a round about way! Disabled the onboard sound so forcing the computer to use the only available outlet...USB :-) Can't get sound from PC now apart from therough the smartboard speakers, only problem would be that if they want a child to just use the PC and its monitor to watch a progarm the sound will not come from the PC but the smartboard speakers hence no headphones can be used either. Anyone got any suggestins around this? Tried just truning off the smartboard speakers (defore disableing the onbord sound)and didn't work.. had to unplug the smartboard USB to get sound through the PC :-( Can I get sound available on both?

I'm stuck!!! Had a Smartboard installed with Smartboard USB speakers, they work when I log on the PC locally but when I log on the network they only play the wndows startup music then nothing. I presume its some security policy thats being applied after the initial sound is played that stops them but don't know what. Any ideas? If the monitor speakers are plugged in it plays through them fine all the time so it must be down to the usb or its not setting the default audio. Now tried to go to contol panel for the sound settings but contol panel is nowhere to be found as its removed via the group policy I presume (I didn't set all this up) so I thought I would take that PC out of its OU and drop it into a new empty one so I would get around the security etc to check things out but... the security must be set on the default domain as I still cant see the control panel when logged on as the required user. Log on as a member of staff and all is fine!!!!! but don't want that. Any suggestions at this point would be very welcome!!

I have done the network install that came with the version 3 cameras, works in a fashion, but it forgets where the network drive for the share is each time. Tried to find out where it stores this value to no avail, even setting it and then locking the profile. Asked the suppliers (TAG I think it was) and they said it was a bug but they hope to modify the software as they have the source code now. Anyone else come across this?

Thanks for the reply. As I said, got it working in the end with the latest update. Would the online version save me having to install it on individual PC's? Might seem a daft question but used to software solutions being described as network versions only to be supplied with dozens of CD's! Just looked at the online report writer, so I presume the Provision writer would be the same and accessible from home, which was a gripe from the co-ordinator about the version we currently have as the database is held on our school server?

Got one of those laptops for the mrs and put the max ram in it (2Gb) and it runs xp and anthing else just fine.

Thanks I'll try that, have got ffdshoiw installed so may be that and the files are video files so could have solved it...maybe...thanks for the suggestions anyway, will try when I get a chance.

Unfortunately this is just my own PC at home. If it was at work would have just re-imaged the PC by now. As its at home can't be bothered to do anything major like that at the moment so if I can't sort it its not major will just drop back to good old dos to delete them.

Got a strange on, when I copy a file/s from a folder in My Documents as soon as I select copy, Explorer crashes. All other files and folders are OK to copy and if I use DOS commands to copy the file it copies fine as well, only problem is when I right click files in this folder. Think I can remember it happening in another folder at some point in the past I think. Any ideas or is it impending doom for the disk

No Audio When recording from video
TechSupp replied to TechSupp's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Eventualy sorted it (in a way!) Seems quite a few Samsung users have had this problem (after googling it). In the end I made up a cable from the AV Out socket, spliced it in to a spare audio lead and plugged that in to the Line in on the PC. Set audio torecord from Lin In and hey Presto Audio and Video now recorded :-) Could I suppose had used Firewire but PC didn't have it and no money to buy a lead (its that tight at the moment!). -
I use one that is nery similar (just does not go in to quite as much detail). Save me stacks of time getting the basic PC info for an audit of PC's when I first started. Just use it every now and again when a new PC or two are added.
