  1. Just set up my fisrt FOG server and used it in anger :-), but just had a thought, is there anyway in FOG or using an addin to auto NewSid the PC after the image completes rather than having to manually go to each one and run NewSid?
  2. Ordered a new projector and will fit next week. For the cost of them now looking at it its very touch and go on the age of the projector wether its worth keeping them after a bulb change once the images startes to go again. Just started making noises to the powers that be about having to get ready to delve deep to start replacing projectors from now on as most are of a similar age.
  3. Are we taking orders for pizza yet?
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. Just been speaking to a company who said just about the same thing, if its over 4 or so years old and you have changed at least one bulb, then be thankful it lasted that long and get a new one. Pity there was no way of checking before we purchased anew bulb. New bulb for sale, anyone! Now just got to break it to the co-ordinator we need a new projector and buy it with the money we don't have!!
  5. Anyone know anybody who will do an internal lens clean of a projetctor for us. We have a NEC vp6111 that the image had gone dull and wishy washy if you know what I mean and so we changed the bulb as it was near end of life and hey presto, with a new bulb its not much better if any :-( We are in Doncaster, South Yorks, if we could get one near by would be brill, save on carriage etc. but if not would have to send.
  6. Now thats the main ones done, any ideas on how to silently get rid of the sparkelbox toolbar?
  7. I have disabled third party toolbars in the GPO but when IE loads I still get the Google toolbar. I have done a GPupdate and restarted the PC, is it just a matter of time for the setting to apply and yes users are local admins due to some software issues.
  8. Just the job
  9. Can anyone pass me the link to a video that was once on here but now I can't find it. Its the one of two people in the Dark Ages and and is a skit on Technical support looking at how to operate a book instead of a laptop. It was Swedish I think but with english subtitles of course.
  10. Email sent :-)
  11. Can you let us know which of the titles would require a local install and which are to be supplied on CD instead of the HD.
  12. We have a few Samsung NC10 netbooks (though the problem is with XP) for the kids to use and just had one that had not been shut down and just had the lid closed, normally not a problem as it just needs the user details entering and unlocking but this time the boxes to enter the unlock details were greyed out so could not unlock it! The domain box was OK and I could select the domain or local machine name but still could not enter any login details. Ended up using holding down the power button to shut down and to get back in. Never had this before so the question is what caused it and how do I get it unlocked correctly?
  13. Just downloaded this as well but it requires a password for the unzip...any ideas?
  14. From what I remember you require planning permission if its 20m3 or greater and its a permanet structure (your is, ist brick whereas prefab concrete garage is not!) and as said its location to current building lines etc.
  15. Don't know if its that one but there was one reviewed on the radio a couple of months back where they demonstrated turning a mixer on via a text message but the real application was for situations just as you want. It was demonstrated on the Chris Evans radio 2 show bussiness slot.
  16. Would be interested in finding any films. We have the system on long term loan but it only comes with the basic films, undersea, train journey, beating heart etc. It has never been out of the box yet as the kids have all seen the films when it was demoed. They did say films were available on the net but yet to find any. Not sure of the system name so can't be too specific.
  17. Just done the same thing here, ordering and keeping stock of what ink is required no longer my job and someone else not gets the flack for complaining about printing use/misuse as far as cost goes, a photocopier seems the way to go, just got one school who I need to convince now but with the price of toners as has been said going through the roof it shouldn't be long.
  18. I found that as well, couldn't understand why they would not log on to the FOG server then realised the DHCP on the FOG server was not started automatically! Anyone know how to set it to start automatically?
  19. Thanks, had a guy in from Frog today and would you believe it, when he tried it...it worked almost perfectly!!! I say almost as it did not resize and fill the screen as he said it should...but it did work so all solved. He did say they had just upgraded the scorm engine so that may have been the issue when I last tried it. Thanks for the reply anyway. EDIT: Just tried it again from home and guess what no change it stil does not work! Will try again at school tomorrow! Must be the version of IE that it is trying to run on as I get the following results: Deepnet Explorer: Not Initialised message IE 8: Not Initialised messag Google Chrome: No error message but no pages displayed, yet correct message at end asking if I wanted to save my current scores! IE 7: Seems to work fine! Will update if I get any more info.
  20. Try these RM.com Shop: Computergear 1507 Headphones + inline microphone They can still get damaged but what won't!! Just use some superglue to stop the headphone pads swiveling and fix the wires to the headphones and inline mic and they seem to have lasted well so far. (the supergle trick was learnt after our first batch were given out!)
  21. Thanks Guys, shame as Fuse allows you to produce some nice interactive activities quite quickly. I'll have a look at it a bit more when I get a bit more time!
  22. How about something simple "Cefer" as in "C fer cat", if we ever get another dog its going to be called Defer as in 2d fer dog"
  23. Thanks, will be trying a deploy over the weekend to see if thats any quicker. I know the image is quite large but some of the software is only PC based installs and they are quite large. If the deploy was down to similar times to what it is from a USB HD then that would not be too bad. Anyone know why it was quicket to a USB HD than across a small network? Thanks for the replies.
  24. Just a couple of questions regarding FOG. I have managed to set up FOG on UBUNTU and it works. I will be using it initially as a separate network to the school one so FOG will run DHCP. Installed FOG and DHCP working, shut down and rebooted, had to restart DHCP manually. How do I set it up to run automatically at startup? Imaged my first PC (Samsung NC10 WITH 19Gb of data/programs etc) and it took 1.5 hrs..is that normal, can do it with partimage on to a usb HD in half that time. Netbook was connected to FOG via a single switch with nothing else connected. Not tried deploying that image yet but would it be a similar time as from a usb HD it only takes 18min. As I have read on possibly this or another forum it would not run the resizeable single partition option, just hing after it said resizing partition OK, so had to use the disk non resizeable option and that worked as said above. Would that have had any effect on the time taken? Does FOG use partimage in the background? if it does why can I use partimage to do a resizeable partition yet FOG won't? Any suggestions welcome as I would love to use FOG rather than doing the imaging individually.
  25. Still use Flash but try finding a copy of Powerbullet Presentor, used it before and its quite like powerpoint but creates flash files, fades are a doddle. Look at The Doncaster Wheelers Cycling Club Web Siteon the front page for some examples using it (left and right hand sides). Not top notch but hey, I'm no graphic designer either!
