Microsoft Familiy Security for me, works quite well and its free.

Its a photocopier so not sure about adding ram and would probably cost big time. Would like to budget in for a new server at some point so moving the spool is only a temp fix I know. Could do with resizing the partition I suppose as a longer term fix but dont have the time, money or I suppose confidence to attempt something like that at the moment (if it aint broke don't fix it but if its bleeding just stick a plaster on kind of thoughts :-) )

Is there any way to recover an email account password from Outlook (must be a free solution), I can reset the password but just wondered if I could find out the original password?

Just got the email app up and running on my Desire, what are the 'Download options' for? or am I just being Monday morning stupid? And where do I tell it to just show me what emails there are and not download them from the server so I can download them on to my PC at home? Don't know if its doing that by default?

Just persuaded my school to buy me one (I teach as well), just playing with it now and upgrading it to Win7 Pro (also upgraded it to 2Gb Ram). So far so good. Needed it small and rugged as I cycle (at least when I'm not sat around nursing a snapped coller bone!) to work and between the four I support (techy as well). Got a another 3-6 weeks off work at the moment to play with it as I had to have the bone plated and screwed back together. Day due back at work...the last day of term :-)

Saw that ad as well but after I saw a few iffy reviews I gave it a miss, but others may have used them OK, just couldnt be bothered if there was anyt hassle. Went to T-Mobile themselves in the end for 600min 500txt unlimited internet, unlimited landline calls for £30. no hassle and got the phone from the shop there and then.

Don't know about the free 15" laptop but just got myself a HTC Desire which so far is brill, ended up with T-Mobile 600min, 500 txt, unlimited internet, unlimited landline calls £30 / month.

Just realised I could do it an easier way for the moment and move the print spooler location! Might do that untill we sort out a new server, but still interested as a side note as to my original post if anyone cares to offer suggestion.

Had an issue yesterday where a teacher sent a load of high res photos to print and killed the server dead as it ran out of disk space! Once I'd figured this out and deleted the print job and informed them how to change the res of photos before printing I got to thinking that maybe setting up a print server may be worth while., but what spec does it need to be, server or just XP? Got an Espresso cachepilot going spare at the moment so wondered if that would do? Do I need to do anything other than set up the printers and share them out?

Not really had that one but did have a similar one which I could not track down so just ended up fudging it I suppose by editing the registry key "time to kill" I think its called (a few instances of it) to a smaller value. Do a Google search for it nd they will say what is a sensible value. It basically adjusts the time to auto kill the non-responding item. Laptop now shuts down quite quickley :-) Hope that helps, as I say not a fix but it worked.

Is there a mail client that will allow me to check multiple online accounts and view the megs but leave them in the mail boxes so that I can download them to my main pc when I get home? Only had the desire a couple of days and just loving it at the moment, the freedom to txt with a keyboard, heaven!

Oh well I'll try posting this again! (Hit the wrong button and lost my original message!) I've had primary kids destroy those ones as well, however we buy the RM/Tesco ones mentioned previously and they are not too bad so long as you put the fear of god in to the kids and teachers aboput handling with care. That said I have collected 30 pairs in since September that are now sat with me being repaired/modded (not an onerours task). Its not a bad job whilst I have the time to do it. Then we will have a full set agin to start in September as they are not getting them back till then!

Been asked by a member of staff if I know of any of these: Touch screen TV or any alternatives, needs to be a integrated tv/computer etc nice if it was touchscreen as well.

Would like the option of multiple logons as a primary we have single logon for a whole class.

Going to sort out a new phone this week and looking at the offers they start to add on Insurance as an extra, now i did take out ins on daughters phone (glad i did as it got stolen at school!) but what do other EduGeekers do for thier own phones, buy it or just take the risk. After falling from my bike in the middle of nowhere and trying to give an ambulance a location, wife wants me to get a phone thet will show me on a map where I am i.e. GPS with maps etc. Don't know much about phones so can anyone assist in which one would be OK and maybe be usefull with other apps (don't know what though!) Currently spending about £12 PAYG but would go to £15-£20 contract if needed. Seen the Virgin Blackberry offer at £15 but don't know much about it or if there are any better?

Well thats my issue as I only cover that school 1 day a week and I need a reliable solution that works. Seen a demo of the Fizz books class system but don't know what AP they used and they propose that you can use it for a full class voting system, internet use etc. May have to investigate that but was considering the N130's that you have.

Just had a Sanyo sent away for a similar problem (under warranty) and they eventually replied that it was a bulb fault (new bulb reqd) and not coveredby warranty so we are left with a £200+ bill to foot. Not ever be buying Sanyo again, its spent more time awaiting repair/exchange than installed! Less than a year old. Sticking to Epson where ceiling mounted anf Hitachi for short thow from now on. Iknow that does not help solve your problem but just letting you know others have had similar problems.

interesting to hear you are still having problems with the Ruckus AP and the Samsungs, looks like they are wanting to buy Samsungs and was looking at the Ruckus AP but may lean towards just getting two Standard AP's and user two SSID's to split the load instead of one Ruckus AP as they are talking 30 netbooks.

Have a look at Ask Oscar, much more child friendly and interactive. The kids I use it with just love it.

Sure we have that checked but been a while since i delved into Sophos

I had this the other week with staff sticks, deleted file you found (cant remember name) copy all files folder toa safe area, formatted stick, copied suff back. I know Sophos should have taken care of it but it was longer to do that than do the above method (and in the end Sophos did not seem to clear the problem anyway).
