Have you got a link to the download as I can't seem to find it on the site.

No not pointless at all as yes we back up student folders with all their work but the co-ordinator just wants each pupils folders to be a little more organised so that they can see easily what work is completed in each year and the folder is not full of hundreds of files, just a few folders and the current years work.

Just had a teacher report that her home PC has just gone "do lally!", know what she means. After more discussion it seems that she has been infected by the bogus spyware/virus program that stops her doing virtually anything as it keeps reporting that it is infected by so may worms etc. and that she must pay for the full progarm to clean it. She did say she managed to run her Virgin spyware check program that came up clean. Now had to remove this or a very similar one a while back and it took ages, (had to boot of a disk to browse the c: drive and find where it had hidden and installed itself) but anyone got any straight forward instructions how to remove it?

Glad someone asked this, was wanting a similar thing. Not wanting to hijack the thread but could I aslo at the same time copy all the files except any existing folders in to the newly created folder (i.e. making a backup of their years work)?

User a very similar version of that scripts hereand it worked just fine, edited it to give me a more basic PC spec list though.

The solution is .....patience! after talking to Toshiba it looks as though the manual for the lamp is a little optimistic on the time to wait for the beeps. Done a couple now and the routine that work is as follows: Change bulb turn on projector wait untill it starts up and light on projector is steady and ready to turn on Press and hold the up arrow on the remote (from memory I think) and wait Wait (takes up to 30 seconds or more apparently!) untill you hear it beep (make sure you have beeps turned on in the projector menu! Soon as you hear the beep, press and hold the down arrow on the remote Wait (takes up to 30 seconds or more apparently!) untill you hear it beep The lamp hours should be now reset and the projectro ready to use. The above worked for me after many times trying it the bulb replacement manual way. Turns out it works just have to wait a long time for it to give you the beeps! Hope that helps

Ours is linked to the fire register I think, we all have a key fob which we have to swipe to get in or out (getting buzzed in by someone else does not help as you cannot then get out!) Seems to work OK, saves me having to remember to sign in or slide my name tag as in or out (although strangely we still have to do that as well as swipe in and out!).

Bum! Spoke too soon, must have problems at their end as loaded front page OK but when I came to login it failed, Oh well, I'll just give it a while and check again!

Looks like thats solved my problem then! or not as the case may be as that just clobbers three of the scholls I look after. Hope its just a temporary glitch and not something permanent!

Can anyone get to the site http://www.schools.ik.org ? I'm trying through YHGfL so just want to check to see if its the site or the network thats stopping it being accessed. Thanks

I have a problem with a new add-on to ie8 which does not like me starting shorcuts to a web page from a drive letter location (due apparently to the Sonic recording software on the laptops). How can I disable the "drive letter add-on" via GPO? I must be able to do it rather than visit each laptop? or how can I easily remove this add-on altogether, without removing the cd burning software?

Now we have a bit of money we are looking to buy some netbooks, could anyone give me their best price on two options, looking to get approximately 16 if that has an effect on the price. Just spotted a screw accessible through the top plate that might be a locking screw. Will try that while I await any other help. Edit: Just tried that, screwed it to its full extent ether way and tried sliding the projector to release it via the keyhole slots...not budging one iota!!!!! Further Edit: Eventually dismantled the adjustment bracket after removing from the boom and hey presto the plate that would not budge before just slid off with ease! Sure it must be able to do it without dismantling everything! Now anyone got a projector service manual? Well just as a further edit, I now hate Toshiba ST20 projectors! Dismantled it and cleaned it out as far as I could, re installed it and hey presto hardly any difference I can see, this is after changing the bulb for a new one, and its only about two and a half years old! Now the teacher will have to soldier on with it untill it becomes unusable I suppose unless anyone has any other ideas.

Thanks, just had another look and on top there are 4 screws and one thumb wheel that adjusts the angle but stops at the end of its adjustment so no gain there. The 4 screws only look to allow it to be removed with the adjustment bracked attached, but I would still need to remove the projector. Insite the monting screws I can see seem to be in keyhole shaped slots that look as though it should just slide the projector to the side them it should drop off but can't seem to slide it to the side. Is it locked in position or just very tight in the slots?

Can usually figure these out but its baffling me! Need to take the projector down for some maintenance and I'm only here today! Any help appreciated.

Exactly the problem, I am trying to get the schools I work in do just that, make a PC a default for all whiteboards. Fed up trying to sort out laptops for baords because the usual teacher is off sick/on course/ on PPA etc etc.

Saw a demo on these yesterday and they looked good especially for replacement installations due to the flexibility of the zoom feature, however...for new installs the teachers like the ultra short throw installs so may wait to see if they enter that market or if another uses the same technology for an ultra short throw version. Casio did say they were not in that market so time will tell.

Got the same thing here, I'm as far as I can go as a) don't hold a budget (even though I sort out whats the best option, get the quotes, sort the order etc etc just don't print the order and sign it b)don't manage anyone or make critical decisions!!! (no comment) To get the above I would be better off doing an office admin job they seem to be more creative with job specs! So stuck at the level I was assessed at (got a rise but not much of a one) but not a chance of improving it due to the specifications they have put on it! Was askied if I wanted to do anything training etc..my answer...why? wheres the incentive! would give me no extra points at all for all the extra work involved.

We have a package installed by MSI via a GPO, can I remove the package from the GPO without it then uninstalling itself automatically because I have removed it from the GPO? We used to have it installed via GPO but now its part of the default image so don't need it to be in the GPO anymore.

Hmmm...got that on one laptop so not a great issue. Thought it was just me or a coincidence that the wireless managed to get an ip just after I gave up and connected the lan cable! Will look in to it a bit further, may have to check for upgrades to the driver as its a PMCIA netgear card as the one inbuilt in the Panasonic Toughbook seems to have died and if its enabled as soon as it tries to connect the laptop just bluescreens and reboots even after a complete reinstall so it was not software! Disable card and its OK,

As for projector, I would always go for the Ultra Short Throw projectors instead of ceiling/pole mounted ones if I can afford the extra involved. May not be the cheapest option but I've found they are the best at the moemnt for us. We have the Hitachi A111, good results so far. As for smart board options, go with the standard Smartboard

We have a couple of the K5400's and had the mirror print issue, if you have not fixed it, it was a MS update that caused it, just set a new profile in the printer options with mirror off and then in the printer properties select the Set Printer Defaults button, job done! although it took me all one morning to find out what to do Another problem with the K5400 I've found is with the extra paper tray it can sit on so it can do duplex etc. The clip on module at the back that allows the paper to be fed from the bottom tray has a couple of contacts on it that seem to just loose contact and just stop printing, wiping them and pushing it back in seems to do the trick. Seem to have had more than its fair share of paper getting snagged inside of late though don't know if thats operator error or not as yet!
