Can setting the wifi power profile be dine via gpo? I have most things set to not save power, no sleep etc but not seen a wifi power setting?

Was a solution found, have similar issues here.
-
Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the same issue. It does not always seem to do it and only started recently, don't know what's changed to trigger it either. A forced reboot usually solves it and login works fine afterwards.

As far as I am aware there is no interference as we had that area I was testing in scanned. After a bit of googling going to try some different versions of the driver and another model of Samsung Netbook (different card) just for comparison. Thanks for the suggestions though. Will try and update this thread with any news in case anyone else has similar issues. All was fine on XP (well lets say, certainly better than the results at the moment!).

Just an update to this, Ruckus had all the logs etc from testing and confirm that the connection from Samsungs are rubbish to not put too fine a point on it, they blame the Atheros wifi driver in the Netbook. Anyone else got ruckus and Samsung NC10 's with this card on W7 and have them working? I cant be the only only with tis issue surely? Sure we didn't have this issue after we went to w7 so next job is to downgrade ruckus controller firmware to one we had a while ago and see what happens then and also contact Samsung. Anyone got a good contact for Samsung technical that has proven worthwhile previously? If all else fails is it possible to replace the wifi module in a Netbook for another make I.e. Intel or is that just something not possible?

Will have to have a look at that thanks, just don't know why it's started. Had it at another school this week.

Does anyone know if there is a requirement for schools to provide a laptop for NQT's? I know we dont have to provide them for qualified teachers and its at the schools discretion, but is that different for NQT's?

Got a slight issue with Word 2010, when pupils open up Word and go to open existing work they complain there work has all gone (its a primary) but noticed its because its defaulting to look for template files and not word files, change the drop down and its fine. This is not just on a single PC, office installed locally on all PC's, and we use redirection for folders etc and delete profiles at log off. Any way I can get it to reset it to Docs rather than templates as default?

Just had a demo of this, anyone using it, what are yours and teachers thoughts on it?

Yes, ordered from the for PC's before and not looked back. Dave has as with you put up with my calls and always dealt with any issues without problem, top marks from me.

Meraki Systems Manager - anyone got it working?
TechSupp replied to rpycroft's topic in Cloud Services
I just added it via the control panel settings and they picked the school wifi as soon as I took them in. Due to earlier issues I did enrol them through my home wifi initially by manuall adding the settings (no proxy) then set them up and as I said as soon as I took them into school it worked. So no special things done, maybe it was because I had a wifi set although how would you enrol it first anyway? Sorry cant be anymore enlightening than that, please ask if you want me to check anything. -
Yes, as I said its the adults not the children that are the problem. If its still a problem sure I saw a simple word processor somewhere, I'll have a look but as said Wordpad is a reasonable option, but if they are doing that then word would be no problem. I think if they dont want word tbey are looking for something similar to Textease, point, click and type but none of it from what I remember is anything like standard. The big thing now is transfer of skills and home/school learning...will they have Textease for example at home to practice? No but they will have Wordpad, office or even Notepad.

Just played a bit more with ours today and updated ours, now they enrol ok and appear as they should in the console. Had to remove the meraki from three ipads and reinstall it to get it to take the profile but all fine now. We have not updated them to IOS7 but they do add the wifi connection etc ok and our connection to the net is via proxy. -
Well we have 2010 at two primary sites and have no issues, kids are quite good at picking things up. See no point in getting them used to other software i.e. Textease where they can click anywhere to type and to have to retrain them when they get to KS2. Its usually the teachers who are having issues not the kids. I teach all age ranges and currently doing word with Y2 kids and no issues with actually using word...writing a complete sentance correctly maybe but using word, no. Start them off early and you can do more with them later on.

AB Tutor v7.26 Problems
TechSupp replied to waltflanagan's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Got that version here and no problems, we also run Sophos v10 -
Ok, will add that to list for tomorrow.
-
Think I may have another make at school, bigger but at least it would prove a point if it had better performance but the Low profile one would be ideal. Anther job for tomorrow then!

If it turns out its the wifi card/ driver that are just no good then would something like this be a better alternative Buy NETGEAR N150 Nano Wireless-N USB Adaptor | Free Delivery | Currys Nice and small and not obtrusive so as to be knocked off? Just not sure of their performance?

Answer to both he above is? With the settings on properties I haven't a clue what half of them mean so could make it worse ( not by much though) and with the logs don't know enough to tell if the info is any use. Have passed it all on to our installer who are usually quite good so will see what comes from that.

We have a Ruckus WIFI network and are having issues now getting a good connection with our Samsung NC10 netbooks, it's just them as I tested android, iPad, Acer Laptop (Intel card) and they all connect at an acceptable speed. Tested them using the speed test utility. The Nc10's have Qualcomm AR5007EG WiFi cards v10 driver ( latest I cold find and did have MS driver previously which was no better). Now how long this has been an issue I don't know as no one ever tells me there is an issue! So had the chance to do a bit of testing this morning, scores on the doors were as follows: an iPad using the app, 40.4Mbs Down, 19.1MbsUp an android using the app, 33Mbs Down, 32Mbs Up Vista based laptop (Intel card)139Mbs Down, 37Mbs Up Samsung NC10, 239Kbs Down, 488Kbs Up (Packet loss is 56%down and 5%up although I have seen 80%!) Anyone got any ideas what I could do, adding plug in usb cards could be possible if they were very low profile as we are a primary school and anything sticking out too far would just get broken.

Meraki Systems Manager - anyone got it working?
TechSupp replied to rpycroft's topic in Cloud Services
We get our connection from Doncaster LA, they were actually quite helpful when I put the request in for the ports and amazon ip etc. wish it wold work fully mind. May just go to an iPad and manually get it to refresh and see what I does. Enrolling is not a big issue here as not many tablets and if we get more would not be many at a time. -

Have similar issues, seems to work...but not quite. Have had all the settings set on the LA, new ones don't seem to enrol but...exiting ones I did off site are able to refresh to the console at school and I managed to set an app to install on the android tablet and it appeared as a notification to install at school just fine. iPads that are enrolled (IOS6) have a similar thing, I know that they are enrolled, they report their position but don't show in the console that they have connected recently and their status icon is grey whereas some of the android tablets do show green status icons? I know the iPads are not turned off as I asked they to be left on so that I could check their location if "borrowed"! -

Ours is a SB660, surface is not damaged, it's just that it's not that accurate in some areas. Firmware is up to date, latest software (urge! Teachers hate it), registry edits done, reset controller etc, etc so was just wondering. Got to buy one anyway to fix the broken down one.
