  1. I have read all the threads on this but I still can't get any joy with it. I have: A simple layout with no background image I have removed the region and re-added it but with no joy I used several different proxy settings both authenticated and unauthenticated methods Gave up trying to get the BCC, CNN etc feed off the internet and make a local file on the xibo web server: General School Channel http://xiboserver General Channel School Update http://xiboserver This is the content of the school Feed The above displays fine in IE All I see scrolling is title text you put in the text box. Anything else I need to try? The proxy issues aside does it have an issue with a local web address as well such as http://xiboserver/rss.xml ? I wouldn't of thought so as other settings are using this address as well. Help!
  2. My previous post has a possible solution. You don't need to use WDS you can use any pxe server using a boot image and syslinux and whatever kind install you want or use it to start some kind of image install.
  3. I have signed up for this one and start in may and will be going onto the Bsc. I managed to claim 60 points for a previous module done at lancaster Uni and 2 of the courses allow you to cash in you Micorosft or Cisco qualifications so I will get 60 from them as well.
  4. Look into WDS syslinux etc. The same way you boot things like memtest and DBAN you can boot net ISOs and stuff like that.
  5. vSphere is for connecting to one server vCenter is like vSphere but you can use all the advanced features and connect to multiple servers. vCenter sits on a server and is the central place for logging and control of your virtual servers.
  6. vCenter is for managing multiple Esxi servers from one console and allows features like Vmotion HA etc.
  7. Since we are on the subject we have ISA 2006 running currently and was considering "updating" to TMG but since it doesn't seem to be held in high regard...... What are the recommended alternatives ?
  8. I was liking the idea of these to use with our digital signage and the Xibo python client.
  9. Hmm it looks like something out of Transformers!

  11. When you think of recycle bin you think of a nice easy way of restoring objects but it is still complicated with powershell cmd lines etc.
  12. I have been playing with those methods mentioned in the thread and the word doc saved as a htm file works fine it updates it straight away and you just use word to edit. The only thing you need to do is know how much of the page you can use.
  13. You can use MDT to do a simple setup and one of the options is to make media. You then copy these files to a USB drive like you would the way you prepare a USB to install windows 7 from USB.
  14. Add Wscript.echo "printer script run" To your script then you can get a pop up message if it has run. If it is running and the printer is still not working does the workstation have the driver for that printer installed?
  15. Looking at a few of my switch configs they are set to RTSP already. I think some of the commands I was grasping for are in here: http://h40060.www4.hp.com/procurve/uk/en/pdfs/application-notes/How_to_improve_and_harden_spanning-tree_configuration_Configuration_note_Dec_08_A4.pdf The ones about the admin edge modes. It looks like only my Procurve 2610 and 5610 know about these though. My 2650 and 2826 don't seem to have this and most of of my edge switches are 2650 so I guess I better dig out the specific manuals.
  16. Yes but given my configuration of my switches typically has 2 or 3 VLANS on it, Usually Building VLAN, VOICE, Printers etc which are all usually untagged (apart from Voice) and then I have my uplinks which will be tagged in all 3 VLANS. How do I define the ports that use STP and the ones that use RTSP. The configurations seem to apply to a whole VLAN and I haven't seen a particular example of it applying to a subset of ports. In a psedo code type of example I would expect to see: Vlan 6 "MainBuilding" Untagged 1-48 Mode RSTP Tagged 49-50 mode STP or am I missing something here and it just magically happens as it knows the difference between and inter switch link and an end user device?
  17. What are the hp port fast commands does anyone have an example? All solutions on google always end up talking about the cisco commands.
  18. What are the share and NTFS permissions on the share you are serving it from?
  19. It will not work in a user policy unless your users are local admins so you need to get it working with Machine policy. Try the FQDN path as it wont hurt to try.
  20. Sounds like an annoying offline files related thing.
  21. Try some of these videos they will help. LTIUnleashedVideos
  22. That's right. That is the official salary range for all Lancashire Network Managers now.
  23. Do not worry about all those options for now. The defaults that are selected will do what you want.
  24. If you just do a standard task sequence and just fill in the stuff in the wizard it will pretty much do what you are asking. This is assuming you have added drivers to the workbench.
  25. No it's a separate download. Microsoft Deployment Toolkit You don't need a server OS to install it on.
