Yes They may have just amended built-in policies but then not used them. Click on the Job Monitor tab and then double click on one of the failed jobs. This then makes the Job History and Job logs visible - click on the logs tab and this should give you more information including why the job is failing. The most common we have here is "corrupt data encountered" because the Head's PA doesn't close her Outlook before going home and it sees her pst files as corrupt.

They knew that the technician was leaving at the end of term (July) but did nothing about it and at the end of Sptember still hadn't placed an advert for his replacement. Then one morning I was in very late as my father had fallen out of bed during the night, hit the bedside cabinet on his way down and made a mess of his face around the mouth. On arrival at work my boss asked me how I was, etc. and then the HT arrived. Straight away he asked if I could cope on my own until April. When I said no he said "We just don't have the money Michael". I've always been known as Mike, that's how I introduce myself, so found that very patronising. I simply said "well you won't have a Network Manager for long as there is too much work now" and told him I was going for a walk. I started job hunting that night, got an interview about 2 weeks later and the day after that handed in my resignation. Also be aware that latest versions of software sometimes require latest OS version on a Mac = Paying to update them all! As some of our Macs are 3 years old (still newer than most PCs) we also ended up upgrading the memory on them. I only have a limited experience with Macs, like you within our Music department, but with regards to point 3 we now have the server version of the macmini and just adding that has made managing them much easier. It hardly takes up any room and we can easily VNC to it when required. Another positive has been installing Apple Remote Desktop on the teachers Mac.

If they claim to have checked everything you asked them to (switched on, plugged in, on correct setting, etc.) NEVER assume that they actually have.
