If its the ports at the front then you can normally disconnect them to stop it shorting the pc. Unless they really need the USB ports then I leave the pc like this unless the department/school want to pay for the part to fix it. We have found though that if they do need a USB port, running a usb extension from a back port gets less damage than replacing the front ports...

I, for one, dont get the whole rep thing on this forum.

Since facebook's dire update means its a nightmare to use on my phone I've started using twitter a lot more for voicing my stupid rantings and annoyances :-) Its also rather good for learning whats worth watching on telly and whats not I have found!

Not sure I agree completly with it, but it is up to who ever has the invites to dish them out to whoever they want. No one should demand an invite from anyone. But there is no harm in asking, after all if you dont ask you will never get. (Unless of course incurring your annoyance is a physical thing, then it might hurt :-p ) I visit here most days, but I am a lurker, like on most forums I join. Simply because even offiline I am a pretty quiet person.

I feel like I am the only one that doesnt have this dire urge to sue when something unexpected happenes... Fair enough if you were one of the ones that your credit card details were stolen. But if people are sueing simply cause the network went down and they couldnt play a game then to me its just silly. Its a free service, and they kept it down so no more damage could be done. I prefer the fact they pulled it down rather than keep it up with the front door wide open...

Nope... Even if you have the docking station you cant boot to the network. I had 6 to build onto RM CC4 a while ago. They came with Win7 home so had to install Win7Pro from CD then smart client them. RM were extreamlly unhelpful when I phoned up pointing out this rather idiotic way of building them.

Business & Education - Chromebook Google is advertising them for schools, through a lease system I think. Not sure if this is US only though.

Doc Martens for me too, I've worn them for years and they have never went wrong. Once broken in they are the comfiest everyday boots and with a bit of polish can look smart.

I did simmilar with BT. I was on the 20GB one, but they charge you if you go over the allowence two months in a row. What I did was on the 'even' months used between 15GB-19GB and 20GB-25Gb on the 'odd' months. Within 6 months they upp'ed me to a 40GB package for free I use it for streaming telly, PS3 and browsing, and easliy reach the 20GB mark...

Not sure about the new ones, but the old macbooks use to do this. The space to the right of the trackpad would heat up to quiet a nice temperature

I dont really like coke in any form (Coca-cola, pepsi, Dr Pepper, Smart price cola...) Its to sweet and gassy for my tastes. I prefer fruit drinks, like Sprite, Fanta or Lilt. Or just normal diluting juice :-)

As much as I want it, I cant see why I should... I bought all the extended collector versions when they came out on dvd, so I have all of the 'extras'. I cant really justify paying £50 quid for a movie that I already own, :-/

Thanks for the great read. Hopefully this has opened companies eye that they should not assume hackers cant do something. To me, its best if you assume anything you can do, a hacker can do too, and possibly more! It does sound politically motivated though...

Oh this reminded me of another point! If dvd's came with a 'digital' copy, without costing an extra tenner then I would be more inclined to buy them. One of the benifits of downloading is not having a bookcase full of dvds, and the abliitly to play then on a range of devices. (I know you technically could buy the dvd then rip it, but thats illegal aswell still is it not? so whats the point...)

In my veiw 'the powers that be' are trying to take control of something that was not made to be controlled. I think it is wrong that they are being allowed to even try. To me it is simmilar to controlling who you get to interact with when you are out for a walk... You are not quite sure who you will meet on it, but you make up your own mind if you want to talk to them or not. You dont have a nanny on your shoulder to tell you off for talking to a stranger. It should be the same for the internet. People are already loosing the ablitly to think for themselves, no need to hasten it further!

I work for the local council, so their are 2 of use to support 1 Academy, 7 Primarys and the surrounding council offices. We are based in the academy and go out to the primarys/offices when they have an issue that we cant fix remotely. They all log jobs through a central IT help desk and we get the jobs assigned to us. And since its all the council 3 and 4 dont apply.

Mine is included on my bank account, includes accidental damage aswell, which I was supprised at! Although I was amused that iphones cause £50 extra to insure. Androids are free though :-D
