Thought I'd share our pumpkin with you all :-)

Our estate tends to be pretty good, there is a very definite no pumpkin no knock policy. We decorated our house this year though, and had quite a few knocks....certainly enough to get through a large tub of hero's anyway! Most were youngish kids with an adult, one group of two lads who weren't actually wearing any sort of costume....came in jeans and hoodies....scared the cr*p out of a group of our year 7 girls when I opened the door wearing a witches hat. Definitely got a couple of screams when they saw who it was :-)

I won an Ipod Mini one year, that was a good freebie (especially as I then sold it on ebay for £100) Other than that, my Edugeek Mug was amazing, the pick and mix was good....Mugs in general are the holy grail for me, pen drives an added bonus

I bought the wife the Kenwood IM200 ice cream maker about 12 months ago, and it's really good. It's a little bit noisy (but then I wouldn't expect it to be silent), and the bowl has to be frozen before it can be used (which takes up space in the freezer and means you to wait 24 hours before you can use it, but unless you buy one of the larger units you can't avoid this) but it makes good ice cream. I've only ever bought one car, and I took out a personal loan to pay for it. I knew I needed the car, I was able to shop around for the best interest rate and actually started paying off the loan before I found the car that I wanted to buy. Effectively it also made me a cash buyer so I was able to use that to my advantage....particularly at month end.

After an interesting last 18 months or so (and a rather stressful labour!) I'm incredibly proud to be able to announce the birth of Alexander Luke Faulkner at 22.45 on Thursday 15th August, weighing in at 7lb 14.5oz Loving every minute :-) I'll post some pics soon :-)

Ok, so we went right back to the drawing board with this. We separated the two networks again, and completely took apart the old/existing network shutting down all the old servers and sorting out our existing core switch. We restarted the old network and tested that everything was working.....which it was. So we reconnected the two networks....and everything remained working, and now we could get internet access on the new network as well. Very bizarre, and I still think it must have been DNS related, but at least it's all working and we can now make some serious progress! Thanks again for all the replies. Iain

Hi, We've run the tracert as suggested and they both come back with the same result and both seem ok

Ok tried it again this morning, definitely not a browser issue as we've tried it with IE, chrome and Firefox.

I'll get hold of actual configuration tomorrow and check ISA for what we actually proxy and come back. Thanks for everything so far

Thanks Zerohour, unfortunately I don't think we can remove the gateway on the old network. Our old network uses our ISA box's ip as its default gateway so removing it would stop all traffic going through it as it's through the isa box that we get out to the Internet.....sorry I should have added that to my original post :-s

We've done the setting of the proxy manually and by gp and neither makes any difference.... What do you mean about the DNS servers being in sync? Do you mean do they contain the same entries?

We lost Internet access for both networks, having run a tracert to http://www.google.co.uk, it gets through fine. We are still receiving email though which comes in through the same route.

Proxy settings are all ok, as I say we don't make any changes other than to connect the two networks physically and it just stops working :-(

Ok, apologies in advance for what may become a long and rambling post. We're in the process of having a new network installed over the summer and have hit a fairly large problem. This is the situation, the existing network is in place and all is working. The new network is in place, all servers are up and running however at this point there is no connection to the Internet, but there is a connection to the Internet on the old network. If we bridge The two networks and connect them to each other the old servers and the new servers can see and talk to each other, however we lose our Internet connection. As soon as we remove the bridge, the Internet connection is restored and works again. Naturally with two networks, we have multiple dc's with two sets of dhcp and dns servers, two separate default gateways, however the ip ranges are the same. We've checked the ip's and there are no conflicts. I assume this is going to be a dns issue somewhere, but I've no idea on where to start to try and fix issue. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks Iain

Yep same here, ours are in until Wednesday......and naturally we've spent the morning sorting out DVD and sounds issues :-s

I know a couple of the guys there in that team, they are good guys......just watch out if you're playing football with them ;-)

Brilliant, thanks again for that. At the moment we don't have anything that allows us to do sims registers via a webpage, it is all done directly through the full version of sims. We do have a remote desktop solution in place though, so that may well work as an alternative.

Thanks for the replies :-) We're looking to buy 5 of them for our PE department, so they would be used for Microsoft Office, bit of browsing, email....however the main thing is that we want to know if it will run Sims so PE can do their registers wirelessly before we buy them. They currently have some old Acer netbooks, which need replacing, and this looked like a device that might meet their requirements. Anyone used one for this purpose that could give me a brief review?

Morning all, I'm looking at hybrid tablet devices, in particular the Microsoft surface RT. Does anyone know anywhere that would lend me a demo piece of kit to have a play with for a month or so? Thanks Iain
