I'm trying to add a FIDO/U2F USB security key as a sign-method at https://mysignins.microsoft.com. I've done this before but now I'm getting the attached error: Has anyone seen this before? Thanks in advance

We used Zoom throughout lockdown, paying for the Education version which gives granular control over security. Granted, it was criticised at the start of lockdown but since then, there have been many improvements and I'd argue the security is now pretty strong, at least with the paid education version.

I think you now have to enable Google Search And Assistant in the Google Workspace back end (Additional Google Services). Be aware though that this doesn't come under the regular terms of Google Workspace and that you should get consent for pupils and also ensure that Voice and Face match is turned off.

I think that probably explains it. Try logging them in using a mobile hotspot or from another network and see what shows up then.

How are your Chromebooks connected to your network? Are they on a separate VLAN?

We have a combination of the two - heavy duty rubber cable strip plus gaffer tape to stick it securely where necessary.....

We had an issue with a Hyper-V host where the caching had changed to write-through, from write-back, as the battery backup on our RAID controller had dropped below the required threshold, which had a big effect on our disk performance. We changed the battery and ren-enabled write-back and performance went back to normal. A slgihtly different scenario, as this was direct disk storage on the host and not a SAN but perhaps worth checking to see if that has changed in your environment(s) and ruling it out if nothing else.

I think limits are useful as a flag. So even if the pooled 1TB is way more than you'll ever need as a school, setting individual limits is a good way of checking that their are no "rogue" users that are abusing the pooled storage.

Throwing another option in the ring, if you have a QNAP or Synology NAS, you can backup Google Workspace back to on-premise, for free, using their native apps (Boxafe/Active Backup).

Bear in mind too that Azure AD Connect v2 and above requires at least Windows 2016 Server, so if you're running on Windows 2012/r2, you'll need to upgrade the OS or migrate to a 2016+ Server

Can you ping pc-mobility-print-host? If you have an A record in DNS then you should be able to.

Are you getting red crosses for all the DNS entries? Have you checked your DNS to make sure that the DNS entries exist? We have it set up with multiple VLANs and it's working fine for us.

If you allow Google Play apps to be installed on your Chromebooks, I believe that you can sign up for Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education for free and install Adobe Premiere Rush as part of the package. We had an issue where it was hanging due to blocked extensions on our Sophos firewall. Added an extension blocking exception to https://app.sketchup.com/* and this fixed it for us.

I'm not sure if I've missed this announcement (please forgive me if so) but looking on our Admin Dashboard in Google Workspace, it now seems possible to set individual storage quotas by OU. Not tried it out yet but a useful tool if you're on the free Fundamentals tier and want to manage your pooled storage more effectively.

For me, this is a classroom management/acceptable use policy issue, as much as a technical one. I work in the independent sector too and although some parents can be demanding at times, we set clear expectations of how students use technology within school, so all parties are aware and have signed up to the agreed code of conduct. If the students use technology in a way that falls outside what they and their parents signed up to, they really have nowhere to go with any push back on to the school. We use web filtering, safeguarding and monitoring tools extensively wherever we can to protect and control but ultimately I believe it's a fundamentally a policy awareness/communication/enforcement exercise.
