All ok to do But to be honest you don't need to buy and put in another hard drive, just burn a recovery disc if it doesn't come with one. Or it might come with a recovery partition with has long as you don't delete that partition when you reload it, you will still be able to use the recovery partition to restore if ever needed.

Another way of doing this, this is the way i do this sort of stuff 1- Create a folder, best to name it the name you want for the share. 2- Set the correct share permissions (groups recommended) and also NTFS permissions. 3- Copy all the users folders to the folder you just setup. 4- Then in Active Directory highlight all your users for this folder change and then right hand click and properties, tick the box for the home drive, choose the drive letter and then type in your share path and then %username% so yours will be \\student data\yr11\%username%\ This will change all the users folders to the correct permissions for each user. For this to work through you need your current users folders named with their username I have used this method a few times, works great!

That's good dan! Just to tell you for future use, if you were to have highlighted all the users, then go to the properties, tick the home drive and then put in the path, it would have done it for all the users.

This is because the path you have done, you need to do this on a shared folder. You should do this share the students folder, make sure you do the share name with a dollar sign at the end, with the correct security permissions of course (both the ntfs and the share) Then you can you this path \\servername\students$\%username%

Same here, we have it running also (version 3.1 of Autograph) no problems. A far as I remember, it installs the product key into the registry, which as long as you don't delete any autograph or even any registry items after the software as been sequenced (advanced mode) you should be fine

Setting permissions are the new domain/server is easy Copy all the users folders to a temp folder on your new file server. Then make your directory's for the users so highlight them all in Active Directory, properties, tick the box for the home drive, choose the drive letter and then type in your share path and then %username% so for example '\\fileserver\year7$\%username%\" This will create all the users folders with the correct permissions for each user. All you then need to do, is move the existing folders that you copied earlier in the temp folder over. Have you got a link for this app? We have only Toshiba laptops on our domain, would make it easy work to have this app on the login screen instead of having to logon when students cannot logon to the laptop because the wireless is disconnected.

whats the file size limit for the students and staff with this for the free package? Im thinking to could technically replace our fileserver, haven't got to worry about backups either. Only an thought at the moment, really need to know the size limit.
