About time been using the pre-release version of it on 8rtm

Ok We have a spare server that I'm now testing Remote Desktop Services 2012 on it. I have created a profile for staff and students. I created this without any software installed. Now the problem, when I install and setup APP-V on it , it creates a title for each app-v software the user has access to. This looks a mess, it's not in alphabetic order and not grouped by subject. I could make a new profile and unpin these programs, but again the problem would arise when we setup more app-v programmes. I only want a shortcut to the folder app-v creates in the start menu for each department. For example, We have a few programs for Science, APP-V is configured for all domain users to get this on their start menu in a folder called science. This is the folder I have pinned to the StartScreen. Or being able to control where the titles are and be able to group and name the group to. But just redirecting the start menu doesn't seem to do anything. I cant see a way of controlling this, why haven't Microsoft put something in group policy for this? or am I missing something Any ideas how to do this? Guess we would have the same problems if we did try Windows 8 in a classroom

Agreed with a paid one, we need to buy one as well, were having a lot of problems with ipsca wildcard. Don't know what ssl company to go with through!

Were having the same problem too, im thinking its to do with the ssl certificate. Were using a wildcard from ipsca which is free for education. But what im noticing is most computers don't seem to find the level 1 certificate for ipsca. Thinking it may have to be a paid certificate. Or would this be a different problem? Sometime we even have problems remoting onto the servers when needed.

Actually forgot something, I did have a major problem, if your use a cluster, you will have to build a new one, because the 2012 cluster cannot work with 2008R2 cluster or below, it will fail to connect to the existing cluster if you try! So that may cause major problems depending how many hosts you use!

Yer 2012 seems very good Have you used the integration disc to update the virtual servers? Your best to, word or wise through it updates your nic card(s) driver, so your need to type back in your networking settings. I upgraded all our hosts and most of the virtual servers now (clean install of course) just two virtual server I can't touch, TMG2010 and Exchange 2010, they will not install and is unsupported. Just 2 virtual servers left for us, WDS, which instead im gonna try out MDT with it this time and Remote Desktop Gateway. Also Physical wise, one DPM Server, 2 RDS Hosts.

This would be because you also need to change the external or internal or even both urls from the exchange console. Your old domain must be wrote in, this is why it redirects to the old one. This would be somewhere under client access

The TMG server is a virtual server and it has two virtual network cards. So I'm not sure why its saying that, or is it because I did setup it as a single network adapter topology when I setup TMG. I added the second virtual Ethernet card the other day when this message came up, thinking it would get rid of this error! So you think this is the problem then mate? Does it need changing to a different topology? if so how would you do that a reinstall? Or would UAG provide this in a single network adaptor topology? I wouldn't know what other topology to pick if needed.

Hi such Internal mail works fine (active directory user to another active directory user in the same domain) External mail we just don't receive Now I have again just look at the Forefront Online and I decided to take a look at the reports, email is getting to Fore Front Online, no problem. So the problem lays between either Forefront to TMG server or TMG Server to Exchange server I have noticed a error with I have corrected on the Forefront Site. Each domain you also have to change the Outbound Mail Server IP Addresses, I didn't notice this. Wouldn't have even thought you would have that there because on the main page it's got the same option. Still not receiving after changing that. We don't seem to be getting any NDRs

We use to have our exchange on one public external IP address. I have now moved Exchange over to use TMG. I done this by creating three rules 1- OWA 2- ActiveSync 3- Outlook Anywhere However we now have a major problem. We cant receive external mail! I can seem to send mail out, but for some reason when I look at the source of the message, its still using the old public external IP address. ---------------------------------------- The only DNS records externally we have is * CNAME Record - remote.ockendon.thurrock.e2bn.org www CNAME Record - remote.ockendon.thurrock.e2bn.org mail.messaging.microsoft.com - MX Record ---------------------------------------- remote.ockendon.thurrock.e2bn.org then goes to the council DNS and then to our TMG server. mail.messaging.microsoft.com is Forefront Online Protection, this has got both the outgoing and incoming IP address (updated to match the same IP address of the TMG server) Also have got the council to delete the old NAT settings for the old external public IP address so it would not interfere.
