Hi Cysklement, welcome to the forums My Option here (Other will probably agree here too) You shouldn't really even be really using Mutipoint Server 2012 yet, it is in Beta at the moment. You should try using the 2011 version, at least until the new version comes out. At my guess you should be about to download the drivers and not need the software.

Yes this is very annoying to being able to do this, I hope i'm wrong. We use APP-V so every time a user logs in, it adds it to the start screen. There doesn't seem to configure this remotely. We wouldn't meant it adding to the start screen, but it doesn't add each different folder to a named group. For example app-v create on windows 7 folders, ie english, maths etc and the software in the correct folder. So what we would like is it to group it automatically on the start screen.

I want Exchange 2010 SP3, can't test it without that -
Hi guys can you give me your recommendations for what to buy here OK I will tell you what server hardware/setup we have at the moment. We have two networks, admin and curriculum. We want to merge these together, these are separated by VLAN. We have three VLANs at the momment, one for admin. Second for curriculum. Third for VOIP. The servers for the curriculum network are on a Intel Modular Server Chassis (MFSYS25) and using 5 modular servers with this (MFS5000SI) you can actually put 6 of these modular servers in the chassis Chassis Specs - 14x Toshiba MBF2600RC 600GB SAS Drives 10KRPM - 4x 1000W PSUs - 1x Storage Controller - 1x Networking Switch - 1x Management Module - Integrated Shared SAN Modular Server Specs (All 5 are the same spec) - 8GB DDR2 FB-DIMM(4x 2048 @ 667MHZ) - 2x Intel Xeon CPU E5410 @ 2.33GHz (4 Cores) We have other servers, but they are no good for Hyper-V so I won't go into the specs of them. Other servers we have are - 1x SIMS/FMS Server - 1x Serco Facility & ePortal Server - 1x Admin DC/DNS/DHCP/WDS/FileServer - 2x Remote Desktop Servers - 1x Backup Server (DPM) - 1x Mitel Mobile Server - 1x Mac Server We don't have fail-over clustering enabled, we have too little RAM Hosts are 2012 Core Hyper-V with CSV storage enabled What virtual servers we are running at the moment. - DC1 - DC/DNS/DHCP/GC/FSMO Roles (2012 Server Core) - DC2 - DC/DNS/KMS/GC (2012 Server Core) - APP Server - Only a File Server for 6 apps atm, some just databases (2012 Server Core) - Microsoft APP-V Server (2012 Server) - Exchange 2010 Server (2008 R2 Server) - File Server - Gateway Server - RDGateway/RDBroker/RDWeb (2012 Server) - Impero Server (2012 Server) - Print Server (2012 Server With GUI & Tools Removed) - SCCM 2012 - Haven't even install SCCM On this yet (2012 Server) - SQL Server - SQL2008R2 & SQL2012 (2012 Server) - WDS Server - Will not need one SCCM is setup (2012 Server) - Web Server - TMG 2010 Server (Only used to publish websites/services to the outside world) - X86 Windows 8 Client - To make deployment images - X64 Windows 8 Client - To make deployment images - APP Sequencer Packager Client (Windows 8) We want to expand what we run with the new servers. Ideally we would like to run to extra things - System Center 2012 Suite - Sharepoint 2013 - Lync Server 2013 - Probably some other stuff too, that I can't think of now So what do you think is the best to get? We also have 14x 146GB SAS 10K SAS Drive spare from when we upgraded to 600GB Drives. Im thinking off the following Intel Chassis Components x1 - Intel Chassis (MFSYS25V2) x2 - 1000W PSU (AXXPSU) -This will make chassis have 4x1000W PSUs x1 - 2ND SAN Storage Controller (AXXSCM3S) x1 - 2ND Networking Switch (AXXSW1GB) x6 Extra Intel Ethernet Ports (AXXGBIOMEZV) - Make each host have 4 Ethernet ports x1 Intel Shared LUN Licence Key (MFSLUNKEY) - Enables the Shared SAN Feature. x14 - 480GB Intel SSDSC2CW480A310 x14 Hard Drive Connection Converter (AXXTM3SATA) This converts the hard drive connection to fit the Intel chassis. Intel Server Components x6 - Intel Modular Server MFS2600KI (No Memory, Holds 16 RAM Modules, No CPU, Holds 2 CPU) 72x M393B1K70DH0-CK0 (8GB RAM) - 96GB Per Host CPU - Options (Only will choose one of course) x12 - 2.20GHZ E5-2660 8Core x12 - 2.00GHZ E5-2650 8Core x12 - 1.8GHZ E5-2650L 8Core x12 - 2.5GHZ E5-2640 6 Core Now thing to think about How can we make use of the 14x600GB Drives and the 14x146GB Drives? Method 1 that I'm thinking of. Get a SAN and place these into it? Keeping the SSDs in the New Intel chassis for the Virtual Servers. And using the new SAN (Technically the second SAN) for a massive file server? Were only just using over 1TB at the moment on the current fileserver. Don't know where the MACs in Music/Art should be connected to this? And maybe buy a few more SSDs to place into the old chassis and configure the 5 old modular servers to use as Remote Desktop hosts only. Method 2 that I'm thinking of. Re install two of the modular servers on the old chassis to 2 Hyper-V hosts again, still with the 600GB drives installed in the chassis, this will allow for a large file server. Setting up two new virtual file servers and somehow configure it so if one of the virtual server turns off, the other takes the load, ie helps with maintenance without everyone losing the link to the file server. And also configure the 3 other modular server to Remote Desktop hosts. So anyone got any better ideas/suggestions on how to configure this setup software/hardware, just need peoples thoughts Thanks, also sorry for the long post! EDIT: Sorry forgot to say, that is got to last 5 years! Another EDIT: If a SAN, what SAN is best? HP? Windows Storage Server? or is that just software?

I'm sure I can make use of that SSD somewhere :)

[mdt] MDT2012 Deployment problem and questions
pritchardavid replied to pritchardavid's topic in O/S Deployment
Ok computer naming, kind of sorted now Ok another question, want to get this one sorted before anything Is it possible to make groups? For example - Staff Computers - Students Computers So with having groups can deploy different apps to them, basically I want staff computer to have Interwrite and SmartBoard and VGA Wireless software installed. I can see you add add certain app(s) to a computer if you add the computer to the database and add it through that. And with having group (If there is such a thing) select a default sequence for the group. I don't want to do this for every computer. Is there a quick way for example making groups, what ever is added to that group, gets the group settings. And also is there list a csv feature, so I can bulk import the MAC and Computer Names, to save a lot of time? Or do I need to look at SCCM 2012? -
@Vine Can you send me this to please, I never had the 64bit driver, so that would enable all the computers in the DT room to be 64bit email is ict @ theockendonacademy .com thanks

I think they got back to me the same day or the next day

[mdt] MDT2012 Deployment problem and questions
pritchardavid replied to pritchardavid's topic in O/S Deployment
Thanks mate, But I just beat you do, I had a look round the console for a while, spotted that and thought I would give that a try. That's all worked So just the naming problem left now How can I set this up to do updates before Windows is finished installing and then after applications are installed for example Microsoft Office updates -
not sure where my colleague put the memory with this one but if you email a request for driver to this email address they will email you them [email protected]

[mdt] MDT2012 Deployment problem and questions
pritchardavid replied to pritchardavid's topic in O/S Deployment
Yep got update one installed, infact there is a newer build number now, which I have just installed, but that only adds support for SCCM CU1 Yep also got this installed 'Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) for Windows® 8' -
Hi There Ok I have setup a Server on Server 2012 & WDS/MDT2012 I have done a new sequence to install Windows 8, nothing else yet, this is to test that it installs the OS correctly. This is an untouched Windows 8 Install, imported from the iso. Left this overnight to install on a Virtual Machine (Hyper-V 2012), came back to this error. Operating system deployment did not complete seccessfully. Please review the log files to determine the cause of the problem. During the deployment process, 8 errors and 0 warnings were reported. FAILURE ( 9791 ): Unable to find any version of USMT, unable to perform user state migration. Code: enExecutionFail Take sequence execution failed with error code 80004005 Error Task Sequence Manager failed to execute task sequence. Code 0x80004005 It is logged into as Administrator and joined on the domain with the correct computer name that I typed in at the start. I wanted it to join the domain, so that's a good start. But why is it logged in as admin? I would had thought it would have logged onto the user I created on MDT, doesn't matter I suppose, I fact I can’t even this this user in Computer Management. Another question if this error didn’t come up would this of logged of the user? If do I need to add something in MDT to make this do this. Of course we don’t want it do that straight away until it configures and install a few programs. One last question if I set WDS to approve mode so it creates the computer accounts in Active Directory with the correct computer name, is it possible to pass the computer name to MDT? This is what we do at the moment just with WDS, it just finds the correct name because of the extra information WDS adds to the computer name and having %COMPUTERNAME% in the unattended file. Also here are the settings I put in MDT if that’s any use? Anyone using system center service manager help desk?
pritchardavid replied to FN-GM's topic in Enterprise Software
We might give this a try when we get our new servers, how current servers won't hack the job It makes sense to use the if you have paid for the system centre suite. So sorry to say what haven't managed to give it a go yet -
Application deployment = APP-V and Some software installed onto the deployment image and a few bits over group policy for new software requested after the image was made Moving over to now- APP-V, Group Policy, MDT to install things that are to big to deploy like Interactive Smart board software to install after the image is installed and maybe just office installed on image. And at a later date when we get new servers to use System Centre 2012 OS Deployment = WDS Moving over to now- MDT2012 (lol im testing Windows 8 too, will be using one of these programs to get the start menu back through) And at a later date when we get new servers to use System Centre 2012 Print Management = None, we could use Impero if we wanted. Backup = Microsoft DPM2012 Profiles/Desktop/Start Menu - Local Man Profile on each computer (Might move it over to redirected start menu and desktop) Anti Virus = Endpoint Point Protection 2012 (Not using SCCM through, we need new servers) Monitoring PCs and Remote Support - Impero Filtering - E2BN Proxy (Council) and Impero Access from home for students and staff - Remote Desktop Services 2012 Email - Exchange 2010 Website - Wordpress (Want to try SharePoint w And at a later date when we get new servers to try out making the website on SharePoint 2013 when that's is released of course External Access for sites/services - TMG 2010 Reverse Proxy, Need to find something else now, considering this is now discontinued Windows Vanilla Most servers are on 2012 now Just Exchange & TMG2010 will be the only ones staying on 2008R2 because they don't work on 2012 yet. Once I have finished setting up the new deployment virtual server, only the DPM server left to upgrade. Windows 7 64bit here, some 32bit too for computers that can't do 64bit. But Some XP laptops still left, only because if we install Windows 7, students network drives never seems to map fairly often, found out it was the wireless card, changed one to an Intel one for a test, no problem. Don't think the school wanted to buy about 30-60 new cards, I'll have to bring this one up again. Want to kill XP Hyper-V 2012, not clustering through, only using a Intel shared SAN on a Intel Modular Server. Waiting on some nice new shiny servers. Then a nice new start, new domain from two. Clustering, using System centre. Hopefully Exchange 2013 will be out soon, so when we do this, we can install that. Basically we like to use as much Microsoft products as we can.

Hi thanks but they managed to get back to us in the end, so all sorted a while back but many thanks through Richard

KX drivers are normally the best drivers to use, is that what you have tried?
