Or just put ads on like the other channels, which makes them able to broatcast for free because the ads pay for all the costs! -
sure not a problem, i'll do this tomorrow, the files are on a USB stick at work at the momment. EDIT: Yes its done by the authui.dll
-
I had to delete some code from authui.dll from the system32 and wow64 (64bit os) using Resource Hacker. If you want the files, I can email them to you if you want (pending of course you have a Windows 7 Licence, so were legal here) or I can send you a link tomorrow with the guide I used to do it, as I cant remember what code lines you need to delete.

Hi there If poss can we please have a logon wallpaper made, we have a wallpaper all ready for staff and student, don't know why we didn't do a logon background. I have modded our latest Windows 7 deployment image so it doesn't have the empty user picture frame (That was annoying) The Academies logo will need to be up the top really, same as the name. The is because you already have the Windows Version at the bottom and in the middle you have the status messages ie starting services, applying updates. If you don't mind, either matching the new logon background with similar colour styles with our current desktop background or creating a new logon background and a new desktop background (blue colour) My colleague made one, but it's terrible lol. Wondering if any one up for creating something better? See attached files Many thanks in advanced

Remote Desktop Services - RDWeb Internet access
pritchardavid replied to ReverentCreature's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
This is the link you require without a public DNS name. You will need to buy one if you wan a DNS name instead of a IP address which is cheap. tsk-sr-001.tillskills.local - You will not be able to use externall because this is not a vaild external DNS name, yor need oneending with something like .com or co.uk .net etc https://86.149.1.141/RDWeb/ I checked the link, it is working! -
I just has this problem, our San (CSV Volume) wouldn't boot without a DC running, both of our domain controllers were off, luckly I had a backup I could run until I could start our normal dcs. We now have two virtual DCs on our Hyper V Hosts and another virtual DC on our backup server with no san, so there is no problem off that goes off, we will be able to reboot it.

Adding an AP to a single classroom CAT5 port
pritchardavid replied to SimpleSi's topic in Wireless Networks
How will option A cost a lot? Don't you run you own cables Ethernet cables when you need to? (Can understand not doing a whole new ICT classroom, cause we have never done that) Agreed with everyone else option A if you can, if not option C Option B will half you Ethernet speed on both devices because it shared. (I believe) We have tried one before, took it out because of that. Or the speed might be worse than that, think it made both devices go to 10mbps -
Problems with our Windows 7 unattended image answer file
pritchardavid replied to pritchardavid's topic in Windows 7
ok all working now Must have been a problem with the laptop! I setup a virtual pc using hyper-v in the end. Ok that means that the domain answer file is sorted, it can finally grab the computer pc name from ADUC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now the next step, how can I mod the above answer file so it continues to grab the pc name from ADUC but make it NOT join the domain, but join the WORKGROUP?? Is this even possible to do? -
Should a school have a Facebook page, the risks and benefits??
pritchardavid replied to roneill631's topic in General Chat
I think schools should be on Facebook/Twitter but there needs to be an option to stop people commenting on your post/page/message. We had a bad message on Facebook from a parent and we were told to shut down both Facebook & Twitter. -

Problems with our Windows 7 unattended image answer file
pritchardavid replied to pritchardavid's topic in Windows 7
Hi DMCCoy - thanks for that Now my question is what about prestaged machines that you don't want to join the domain? You want WDS/ADUC to provide the computer name instead of manually typing it in. Can this be done. I'll edit the file again and try what you just said# EDIT: Does the rest of the file look ok? -

Problems with our Windows 7 unattended image answer file
pritchardavid replied to pritchardavid's topic in Windows 7
With pre-staging, I have set the WDS mode to require approval from an admin, So when a new computer hits the server I click name and approve (saves entering the GUID or MAC on every computer) Just looked at the computer I approved and named eariler, this is what the WDS entered {A0547C0F-F79E-DD11-A70E-001E3374A873} You can create the computer account in ADUC if the console is installed on the WDS server (Of course this requires you to do this on you WDS server) -
Problems with our Windows 7 unattended image answer file
pritchardavid replied to pritchardavid's topic in Windows 7
we can prompt the setup for a computer name on how old unattended file without even using mysysprep2 What im trying to do is make wds imput the name that was pre-staged already in dc and join to the domain. Any ideas? I think the only thing I changed in this file, was copied this part from you post about mysysprep2 DOMAINNAME USERNAME PASSWORD DOMAINNAME and added the computer name line, which was removed before for it to prompt for a pc name %MACHINENAME% Reading from TechNet it says to use %machinename% for it to pass the name I already set in WDS "Setting ComputerName to %MACHINENAME% will pass through the name you set in WDSs Name and Approve. Set TimeZone to your correct time zone, such as Mountain Standard Time. (Note: See technet.microsoft.com/library/cc749073(WS.10)for a list of applicable time zone strings.)" -
I am trying to update our windows 7 deployment so we can pre-stage all the computers How every changing our unattended file is not going well. We use to have the answer file prompt for a computer name and join to the workgroup. And then a power script on logon to join it to the domain. Whats wrong with this script, im trying to make it join the domain automatically using the computer name that was pre-staged DOMAINNAME USERNAME PASSWORD DOMAINNAME 0809:00000809 en-gb en-gb en-gb en-gb PASSWORD true USERNAME 1 true DOMAIN true true Work 1 false false PASSWORD true PASSWORD true USERNAME Administrators USERNMAE Local Administrator %MACHINENAME% The Ockendon Academy ICT false GMT Standard Time

Ok have managed to pull a vm image from the san (opened it from disk management, properties or the hard drive, then finding the volume) otherwise would have used a backup from a few days ago.... Regarding physical, my plan, once all the virtual servers moved over the san, was to place a another virtual dc on another server (Our backup DPM physical server) I can't physically install it on the DPM because your not meant to install it on a server with SQL..... The backup server is not on a san, so i'm guessing that should be fine? Need to make sure the other guys don't restart any hyper v host servers until we get a third dc running on the other server.
-
Ok seems our Hyper-V host servers have restarted due to updates I think. The Hyper-V hosts servers are setup on a SAN (Intel MFSYS25 with SAN key activated) for the storage for the Hyper-V, With the cluster feature installed on each host to enable the SAN to work. Now i'm assuming that because all servers have been restarted the DC were also shut down, i'm guessing that the cluster feature needs a DC to authenticate between the cluster group (Hyper-V host servers). I cannot open the cluster storage folder nor can the virtual server access the storage folder either. What the next best thing to try? many thanks in advance

Your thoughts on repairing or replacing wireless part of network
pritchardavid replied to confuseduser's topic in Hardware
You should be able to get the repaired/replaced for free. HP Procurve products have lifetime warranty! When we had our wireless routers repaired they sent us new ones first then we sent the old ones back after.
