  1. Yer we have Google Sketch up installed to, will have to see if we can get rid of it, infact I think the staff member that done the training has left, so thats means we are not allowed to use it anymore on the licencing terms So one has to do that course and that means the new version, unless no no longer want it
  2. Many thanks, just what I wanted to here Once I get settled with our new domain, will try the Forefront TMG Any idea what the difference between TMG & UAG? Im I correct that with TMG you can just have one single external IP address and have as many external DNS names as you want Doing More with Just One Public IP (Part 1) « UnplugThePBX We have quite a few External IP addresses already, im im sure we are not allowed anymore without paying which I doubt the school would do! We have a few things that we will be wanting to setup, Lync Server, that requires a few, our new library software that we should be getting, moving the vle to a subdomain, maybe trying out sharepoint, so that would require quite a few IP Addresses!
  3. Hi there Im getting a bit confused here, for external/internal dns/certificates, etc you need for RDS We will soon have it setup this way Server Called RemoteMaster - Gateway - Connection Broker - RD Web - Licence Server Server Called Remote01 - RD Host - Remote Apps Server Called Remote02 - RD Host - Remote Apps Our wesite address is www.{domain}.com Our Active Directory Domain is also theockendonacademy.com At the momment all the roles installed on RemoteMaster are installed on Remote01. I have made a new virtual server with these roles on it, just need to know how to configure this right. We want RDWeb to connect through remote.{domain}.com And the same using the Remote Desktop Connection Client And the same for adding Remote Apps & Desktop Connections for the start menu. Now am I right here? 1x External IP address that resloves everything to remote.{domain}.com The Broker/RDWeb/Gateway will find the correct resources from a farm I make for example remotehosts.{domain}.com (that DNS name only being internal and only internal IP addresses) And has I said above, that means two DNS names, which I gusse thats means two Security Certs.
  4. sadly tried running it as a admin already.. I have always been runing every program as a admin before letting the computer scan for all the files/registry changes to the computer after the install. this is quite annoying becuase its this and tuxtype only thats not working
  5. Same one we have, damn I hate pat testing!
  6. Ok very annoying, even without the update (dont mind making the package again later if anyone has updates I can have) I have made the package serveral times and everytime I open it up virtually using the app-v 4.6 client, it trys to start up, it comes up with the prodesktop logo, then it closes it self down
  7. Just wondering if any one has any updates for ProDesktop 8? Just converting it to a virtual package, thought might as well try to get any updates for it. Will ask one of the technology teachers to go on one of the courses so we get the update version if one of them will go! We already have the sp1 update I know there is a sp2 update, dont know if there are any newer patches than that. Thanks! EDIT: Ok the sp1 we have will not even install, says we have the wrong version install or something, even this sp1 update was included on the oringinal disc with the oringinal setup!
  8. Many thanks mate! Sorry jusr reliased I didnt type in the version for Flowol, we have 2.93
  9. Cant see I think thats call, touch doesnt even work yet! now get a windows 8 (arm version) with the touch interface then we are talking!
  10. Anyone got a setup installers for the following - flowol plus the mimic creator and mimics? - Food In Focus (2005) Not sure if you can use a newer version if there is still one at the 1.0 level? ie free updates? - Geometer's Sketchpad 4 - Janome Customizer 11000 Cant find the installers for these, want to repackage theme, but want to start from scratch, some of these installs was made before I started over 5 years ago, so want a fesh copy if possiable And of course we have paid and have site licences for all this software! Many thanks!
  11. Check the event viewer to see if there are error, most likely is a security permssions fault. The event viewer would say if this is the case!
  12. Make a deployment Windows 7 image using HyperV? This would be deployed onto physical machines. I know well you have a virtual manchine/server, HyperV installs the intergration services (which you see in services.msc) Does this get removed during sysprep and generalize option, or do you have to do this manually, wouldn't want to keep it in the image, plus may cause problems Using Hyper-V would make this much easier to update our images! Can this be done guys?
  13. Does this sound good? Setup a new man profile and setup the remote app and desktop connection on that, this way when students or staff logs in to a school computer the remote apps shortcuts should download in the startmenu. Keeping Office 2010, Adobe Flash, Shockwave, Air, Reader, Java & Quicktime installed locally. Three Severs Remote Master (Virtual Server) - Broker, Gateway, Web Access, Licensing Server, plus any shared databases the network software use (Oxbox, Wordshark, Ultrakey and also the Lexia Server) Remote01 (Physical Server for the time being) - Remote App and Desktop Host, All Software installed Remote02 (Physical Server for the time being) - Remote App and Desktop Host, All Software installed Also setup so Remote01 and Remote02 are setup as a farm to load balance between Does this sound good? or is it better to share the software inside school via the File Server Role? & keep remote apps for just outside school. Or is it better just to leave it how it is? (Software installed to clients expect from the resources discs departments buy, like oxbox etc, which they can get from a fileserver via a shortcut, as these programs are on another server we havent setup remote apps for them, but we could copy them over I suppose.) I dont like the fact the the software is in two different places! We can update it easy if its on a file share and the remote servers. Please need a fast response, would like to try and sort to out tomorrow at work.
  14. Give the free trial a go for hyperoo, then your know whats it like!
  15. Ok first question if I wanted to host a program on a server I need both Application Server/File Services Roles installed right, or is the Application Server only for special application built specially for it? Now I have made and transfered all the users and mailboxes already, have a few servers left to do, then will transfer all the computers over Now my main question We use to have one server to host applications, for example discs deparements buy, ie oxbox, any education discs etc...... This server any was the main file server that hosts everything. Now im thinking this needs to be improved, or should it be left alone expect the software just hosted on a different virtual server? Im thinking all this software should be available in one place, currenly in the school they would have to go into the studentshare or staffshare (shorcut on a desktop)and there will be a shortcut in the for that program. (this is just for the resource discs programs) At the momment we have two remote servers, both are setup has a farm for load balance, dont think we need it because we dont have many users on it at once. Both also have the remote app role installed. One server as all the other roles install expect the virtual desktop role. Would it be a good idea to have one just for remote apps, so all this software can go it plus of course all the other network software. And one server just for the actual remote desktop? Now has I said I would prefere everything together, will make it a bit easier for everyone. Now if the remote app was to go ahead can I had the remote app adn desktop conection to the mantory profile and when a student of staff login in using the mantory profile they will have the remote apps folder in the start menu with all the programes they will update if I was to add anymore. And when they click on the shorcut in that folder it will bring the remote app stright away without any dialog boxes or security errors? Also is there away you can sort the remote app programs in the remote app start menu in folders so for example I can have all the science programs in just one folder etc, is this possable the same for remote desktop web access? If that would work is it worth moving all the network software expect from office 2010 to remote apps? Thats mean everything comes from one server, one place, plus makes it easier to update if any updates comes again for these programes, we currentlly dont deploy any programes, I have just install them onto our wds image. If this was to be done, I would just install Java, Flash, Shockwave, Adobe Reader & Air, Quicktime onto our Windows 7 Image, this would be easier to update because I make a different image for staff laptops and student desktops. This will make them the same. Whats your thoughts on this? How do you guys do all this? Sorry for the long message!
  16. Ok everything seems to have gone well now, all users and mailboxes are moved over to the new domain, only computers and group policys left to do. I have found one problem through! It seems the last user export which is around 10-15 users failed to copy the passwords over. Now I wouldn't mind this but some of these user are checking their email during the holiday so the passwords need to be migrated (one inc the head) I didnt noticed this failed, I have already copied their mailboxes over to the new domain, what would happen if I reran the admt migration for these users again, has your meant to do prepeare mailboxes powershell script, admt, then move mailboxes Any ideas if this is safe to rerun? Also is there anyway of moving the computers over to the new domain without having to turn all the computers laptops on? Looks like admt requires you to do this!
  17. Dam it, missed closing date
  18. Ok sort of sorted the last problem over I now have now have all the users done for the perpare move request I believe the admt has worked now, only done it for a few users to start with just incase Now the next problem, moving the mailboxes! I cant seem to be able to add the old exchange 2010 server from the old domain onto the emc on the new mail 2010 server on the new domain It just dont want to login This is the error message I get The attempt to connect to http://mail.ockendon.thurrock.sch.uk/PowerShell using "Kerberos" authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: Access is denied. FOr more information, see the about_Remote_troubleshooting Help topic. I believe to move the mailboxes over to the new domain you must do this on the emc on the target server. So this need to connect! Now the weird thing is, I can add the exchange 2010 server on the new domain to the old exchange 2010 server on the old domain to emc without any problems. I have add this connected before, it just wont work anymore for some reason. Or is there a way to to all the move requests from the old server, I did try that but it wouldnt work, unless I was doing it wrong Any help would be great!
  19. Intrested, just waiting for a job description
  20. Ok in need of some more help Was following this guide Exchange 2010 Cross-Forest Migration Step by Step Guide Step 1 - I have have done the prepare move request for all users, all the users are in the new domain disabled as there meant to be Step 2 - Use ADMT to move the user accounts over....# #Step 2 = The problem - It fails When I transfer just the one user over its saying in the log that the user already exists so it skips it and does nothing, but this is the way many sites say to do this Another one here I have been looking at to - Migration | Exchange 2010 & PowerShell Also when I dont the prepare move request the userprinicialname is the old domain name, how can we change this to the new one? atm if you want under the account propertys you have a drop down box for both domains, I the userprinicialname on one user to the new domain and it got rid of the drop down box and just having the new domain name in the box, which is ofcourse what we want. Or will this all change when the users are migrated?
  21. Current Exchange version thats running is 2010 SP1 Will be the same on the new Virtual Server on the new domain. Yep two forests Yer new exch org so will have 2 until transfered over Still waiting for the hyperv host 2 to install, takes ages using the intel kvm and using an iso to install 2008r2
  22. Thats seem to have done the trick, but had to import/export the zone from the old dns server what the easiest way of migrating users with the mailbox to the new domain? will reload the next server and install exchange on that next will be the file server after that would like to do network share/user/mailbox at the same time not all at once of course need to make sure it works
  23. Cheers mate will try this out, so I dont have to create any records for anything in the new zone for the old domain? Ok need a bit more advice The Default Security Groups in Builtin & The Default Users folder. Something I have always been confused about Why extually are there two folders not all in just the one? Or are there differences between these two folders? With our old domain we use to add a lot of security group to our admin account, can we just add the one group for full rights to everything?
