At what speed is your File Server connected to the Network?
pritchardavid replied to Frazzle's topic in Hardware
Currently 2x10GBe Aggregated per Physical Server, have two servers in a box using sas drives. (Capable of having 70 drives) Will be moving this to a Clustered two VM setup, to whatever needs to stay on site, will be moving everything possible to OneDrive. -

Seems to be a new feature that allows a fast sign in to Shared PC Faster sign-in to a Windows 10 shared PC Do you have shared PCs deployed in your work place? Do you wish that signing in to a PC with your account was faster? Starting with this build, we are introducing “Fast Sign-in,” which enables users to sign in to a shared Windows 10 PC in a flash. I do wonder what changed, disabled or delayed at login? Might have to give a VM a spin, see what’s different. https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-releases-windows-10-insider-build-17713-with-improvements-to-edge-notepad-and-more/

Hi there I'm having massive problems with our wireless controller (HP MSM760) for our HP Access Points I am using 4 VLANS VLAN 150 - Management Interface for Access Points VLAN 160 - Staff WIFI VLAN 170 - Student WIFI VLAN 180 - Guest WIFI We are using a Smoothwall Box for our Firewall/Router with the DHCP relay enabled for all of theses VLANS The problem we are receiving is that any client devices we connect on any WIFI network get a IP address from VLAN 150 IP range. I have only setup WPA2 to start with only each one Added Network Profiles for each VLAN and assigned them to the LAN port Assigned each SSID/VSC to each network profile. The APs and controller are untagged on VLAN 150 and tagged for everything else Any ideas what I have done wrong? Any ideas would be good I can also confirm DHCP work's on each VLAN, tried untagging the port on each VLAN with a laptop and a random switch, got a valid IP address for each one I think something is wrong on the HP Controller tbh

USB to Ethernet Adapter with PXE Boot
pritchardavid replied to Theldron's topic in How do you do....it?
Cool, do you think you can get hold of the part number? (We are using the 320s models, hopefully it shouldn't make a different in the models that are recent) -

Deploying Storage Spaces Direct For Virtual Machines
pritchardavid replied to FN-GM's topic in Windows Server 2016
Done this myself too. 4x Supermicro Servers 10x Intel 1.8TB NVMe in each 2x SATA DOM for Boot and DC on each 2x Mellanox 56GBE cards in each 2x Mellanox 56GBE Switch Cost a lot, but no problem with speed for storage Just wish we spent more on processors and more RAM Wouldn't mind another node or two through, more fail-over and load balance then Wasn't that bad to setup either...... I created a new VLAN myself, just for the servers to separate from the server from the network. -
Hi Guys I'm trying to setup new VLANs for our network, I'm struggling at the momment. Firstly what would you suggest/recommend to use for the Gateway? - Core HP switch? - Smoothwall? Currently we are using the Smoothwall for the Gateway. IP address for the gateway is (10.146.64.1) This IP address is from the default VLAN1 IP range that we are using for the whole network (Minus VOIP, because that is on its own VLAN) Network for the default VLAN is 10.146.64.0 - 255.255.248.0 This is the only gateway set on the HP Switch, actually can't see a way to set a different one for each different VLAN. What I have done for one new VLAN (Named: Switches) - Added a VLAN110 interface to Smoothwall (10.0.110.254 - 255.255.255.0) - Add firewall rules to Smoothwall to allow traffic from Port1 (Default VLAN) to VLAN110 and vise versa. - Added VLAN110 to HP Core Switch and gave this IP address (10.0.110.1) Haven't changed it to primary interface yet - Tagged all uplinks for this VLAN on the HP Switch Now I can ping 10.0.110.1 and 10.0.110.254 fine. But when I remove the IP address for the default VLAN on the core switch that we currently use to access the switch, I then don't get ping replies. I am just pinging this from a untagged VLAN1 port. Any thoughts would be great

Out of interest are you using something like iamcloud Drive Mapper with group policy to achieve this on bulk? Thinking of doing this for all staff and students, if it would work together.

Hi Guys Just a quick one, we have had someone or a group of students connecting to our Epson networked projectors, they have been displaying random pictures on the projector from the iProjecter app on their mobile (Haven't caught who as done it yet) So we have had a wireless key that has been used for over 10 years now for our wireless, no wonder why students have found the key now, so I think a change is in order! I don't really want to use a wireless key again, just in case someone finds/figures it out it. Would Radius work fine with a Smoothwall box and over two wireless systems connected to the same network? (HP MSM760 controller and Ruckus controller) And what's the correct way of doing this if it would work? Setup Radius on both controllers or just Smoothwall? or all three? Sorry haven't had a play with this before and haven't got a lot of time to research and experiment at the momment Thanks

Hi There THE PROBLEM Mac clients will not boot and install the deployment image At one point the clients would find the server and attempt to load the image once I told it to load it (The progress loading bar did move across), but after the client would just reboot go back to the current OSX install. I did notice when it rebooted it gave me a black screen with some writing on it. The Mac clients will not even find the server now. When I press the N button on the boot screen the globe icon stays there for about 5 seconds, just blinking then disappears. If I press the N button again, it just stays there forever and keeps blinking. HELP PLEASE...... I Hate Macs Windows FTW ------------------------------------------------------- We I have done...... Starting our Mac setup from scratch.... CLIENT SIDE I have taken our newest iMac model upstairs to our office to make a new image from the classroom. (10.11 is what I have installed) Installed two copies of OSX one just to make the actual image, and one being the base image. All updates installed Installed the following applications - Logic Studio (All content) - Finalcut (All content) - Audacity (With Lame MP3) - Pages (Probs pointiness has we have MS Office?) - Numbers (As above) - Keynote - iMovie - GarageBand (All content) - MS Office 2016 - Impero Client - MS Remote Desktop App - Yamaha USB MIDI Driver Tested Profile Manager settings on the other clean copy of OSX, worked fine. Created the image, I did untick the recovery partition tickbox SERVER SIDE Reloaded our Mac Server with 10.11 (xServe) Setup static IP and wrote in our Windows Servers DNS IP addresses Setup server name Installed Updates Installed MacServer app Configured new OD Bind server to our AD Setup group on OD with all our Students/Staff from AD for Profile Manager settings. Installed all the applications as above on the client so we can add these apps to the dock and use app restrictions. Setup Profile Manager restrictions for the OD group NetInstall, chose the same partition the as the OSX is installed on, for data directory. Copied the nbi from the client to the server into the NetBoot folder and enabled NetInstall. Thanks, bet this is something stupid and easy to fix (I hope)

Hi there I want to migrate our Exchange to Office 365. I also want to build a new fresh Local Active Directory Domain when Server 2016. If I was to migrate our Exchange users to Office 365 and then later migrate to new Local Active Directory Domain what would happen with our users on Office 365? Would it just notice the same UIDs and sync to the new domain, once Dircsync is installed on the new domain? Also, is there yet a way to sync users home drive to Onedrive for business yet, so they can get to there files anywhere and any device? Thanks

ah never mind, all fixed Seems when the mailboxes was moving the mail log header file got corrupted because the hard drive space so it would write any information it needed to that file. So managed to repair the database move all the logs, and it just recreated this file. Thanks FN-GM for your help anyway.

Hi there, hopefully you can help here We have had a lot of corrupted mailboxes (Can't search and keep going into quarantine) So I migrated some mailboxes to another database, so I could delete the that database. We are on Standard and we was already using the max of five databases. That bit all went fine. I then made the new database and started to migrate 150 mailboxes, this was still working fine when I left work on the Thursday. Came back on the Friday and found it had failed migration, it had moved 85 mailbox other through. I found out that the server only hard drive only had about 7gb left, I'm assuming that's why it had stopped. All the other databases how circular logging enabled, which I forgot to do on the new database, that's why it ran out of space, would have been fine if that was enabled. Problem this as now left me, is I found the database un-mounted and will not mount. Any suggestions?
