Hello everyone, We have just set up an RD Farm which consists of two RD Session Hosts with Connection Broker to help with load balancing - and it seems to work quite well. We also have RD Web Access on the gateway server as well. Our setup is: Gateway Server - gateway.domain.com (Joined to domain.local) - This is accessible via the internet Session Host 1 - SessionHost1.domain.local Session Host 2 - SessionHost2.domain.local My question is: Is it possible to open up Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc) on a computer and then type in gateway.domain.com which then logs the user onto one of the two session hosts. When trying it, it seems that it tries to connect the user to the RD Gateway Server rather than one of the two session host servers. Any help regarding trying to get it to pass the remote desktop connection to one of the session hosts rather than connecting to the gateway server. I know that you can specify the Gateway server and then enter the FQDN (sessionhost1.domain.local) in the computer to connect to. But we were just wondering if there is a way of it automatically passing these RD connections to the session hosts. Thanks in advance!! J.Worth.

Hello Everyone! We are trying to setup an RDS Farm and are confused with what certificates we need to use. Our setup is as follows: Server 1 - Internet Facing (remote.domain.com (joined to domain.local)) - RD Gateway - RD Web Access - RD Licensing - RD Connection Broker Server 2 - Non-Internet Facing (Session1.domain.local) - RD Session Host Server 3 - Non-Internet Facing (Session2.domain.local) - RD Session Host The confusion lies in signing the remoteApps. As they reside on a server that has a .local domain how can I get these to be signed by a Public Certification Authority? We are currently looking a purchasing a Wilcard certificate - *.domain.com and obviously this cannot be used for the session hosts. So my final question is how can I sign these remoteApps so that they can be used externally without any issues. I hope that the above makes sense! Thanks in advance. J.Worth

Hello everyone, We have the following setup for our terminal server environment: SERVER-TSG: RD Gateway RD Licensing RD Connection Broker RD Web Access SERVER-TS1: RD Session Host SERVER-TS2: RD Session Host We are finding that when connecting to a "full" remote desktop connection it hangs on Configuring Remote Connection for about 1-2 mins before actually connecting. This is also the same when launching a RemoteApp. We have configured our certificate on all of the servers and we are not getting any certificate errors. We have a dns record: RD-FARM.SCHOOL.LA.SCH.UK which points to both of the session hosts. Our main question is: Is there anyway of reducing the amount of time it takes for a remote desktop connection to be established? Thanks in advance! J.Worth

Hi, I have been setting up RDS and RemoteApp. I am having an issue when I open sims via remoteapp. I click connect then it disappears. Has anyone had this issue. Thanks in advance

Hello Everyone, We are wanting to deploy RemoteApp and RDWeb to allow staff to access SIMS.net remotely. What is the best way of setting this up? I was thinking that we should have one server hosting RD Web Access and RD Gateway (this will be internet facing). We then have another server that will be the session host server for the RemoteApps. Additionally, where should I install the Certificate Authority? When we were doing a test setup, there was an error launching the RemoteApps because the Certificate Revocation List could be found. How do we solve this issue? Lastly, how can we get Single Sign On (SSO) to work properly because we were finding that when logging into RDWeb we then had to enter our username and password again when launching an initial RemoteApp (after this happens subsequent RemoteApps launch without a password prompt)?

Hi all, I'm having an issue with a published remote app at one of newly joined MAT schools, they are CC4 and i have zero experience of it so I'm not sure where to start. Our parent MAT school has a published a series of RemoteApp for other partner schools to connect to (mainly management apps), these work in 3 our 4 MAT schools perfectly fine. However this one school it does not work the issue is: 1. You can visit the RemoteApp website, login, see a list of App, download the RDP file, run the file, prompts of username/password, (on incorrect entry it will throw an error so we know thats working), finally the error is displayed "Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporarily unavailable. Try reconnecting later or contact your network administrator for assistance" 2. You can add the RemoteApp via the control panel, it appears in the startmenu, again then you click on the shortcut the following message is displayed: "Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporarily unavailable. Try reconnecting later or contact your network administrator for assistance" 3. This system works in 3/4 schools fine, the accounts are identical in settings, groups, etc and from multiple other locations (home, other school, mobile apps) it all works fine. We have tried the following but cannot think of anything else: 1. Enable remote desktop connection in the GPO (CC4 school) 2. Tried 3 different proxy servers available (we have 3 in total to use one is SmartCache, the other two are county level servers with 0 authentication) 3. the events logs on the RDS Gateway show the user connecting and disconnecting in 1-2 seconds 4. Windows firewall if off 5. Updating to RDP 8 and 8.1 6. Using a mobile app on a phone connected to their wifi works Sorry OS Windows 7 SP1 fully updated. I'm stumped, has anyone got any suggestions. Hi, We have twenty laptops that are given to staff currently. We are using Local Profiles for these machines and all are joined to the domain. The DC is running Server 2012 R2. We use RemoteApp to deliver apps such as Word, Excel etc to the laptops. This server is running Server 2016. We have issues with staff leaving the laptops at home (as they are strictly for home use - as they have a work PC in the office) and are only required to be brought in once a year for a re-image. Windows Updates is done locally and I have SAAS software installed so I can make sure they're up to date. We have an increasing issue of when Staff change their passwords, because the computer can't contact the domain as they are offsite, they are having to use old passwords to logon which is starting to become a problem. Also, it breaks the RemoteApp connection as they have opted to "save" passwords for quicker connection. From my understanding, something like DirectAccess would fix this and emulate local network access always, however adds additional complexities we don't want. In short, is there a way I can have the computer "update" the cached credentials without it being brought back into the office, no VPN or without using local accounts? (i.e something I could do with RemoteApp?) We only have RemoteApp open as a port in the DMZ anyway, do don't want to open other ports when what we have, apart from this issue works very well. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, When launching RemoteApp for our users, it takes a while to launch due the group policy setup. Normally our login times are about 20 seconds. Most of this is it pulling the mandatory profile off the server, and configuring folder redirection. I was thinking of setting up loopback processing on the server, to only do a few GPO's. Is this recommended, or advised to speed it up? Our RemoteApp login times are about 30-45 seconds (too long!) for our Staff to be happy I'm not looking at instant, however 10 seconds ish would be helpful. any advice speeding this up would be appreciated! thanks.

Hello everyone, We have HAP+ working well. We also have RemoteApps listed on Home Access Plus+ available to staff. My question is there anyway of having SSO so that when a user signs into the HAP+ site, they don't need to enter any credentials to login to a RemoteApp? Thanks in advance. J.Worth

Hello everyone, I have a Windows 7 Home Premium computer that I use to connect to RD Web and launch RemoteApps. The problem is that I get prompted twice to enter credentials to open a RemoteApp - I get prompted at the RD Web Access login which is fine but for some reason SSO is not working and causing me to have to re-authenticate when I launch a RemoteApp. It also asks for credentials everytime I open another remoteApp during that session. I can confirm that the server side setup is working properly because I have tried it on another Windows computer which is not connected to the same domain. This other computer is running Windows 7 Professional - is it possible that this is the reason why, when launching remoteApps on Home Premium I am asked again when I click on a remoteApp - I can't think this would be. Any help/advice would be appreciated as it is quite annoying when trying to use a number of remoteApps!! Thanks in advance! J.Worth.
