well we have a tool to make a report from sims to get the cvs but the problem is we dont have sims we have secro i believe I have made the cvs in the correct way has required (got a staff member that deals with the secro to uplodad the data to a excel for me also we dont use moodle, we user the crappgy secro vle, which im gonna try to get changed to frog vle or second choice moodle

Any one had any expericence with this program? we need to import and update all the student data onto it, but never seems to work correclly. Been using a cvs file to import it, which I believe everything is in the correct place for it

no dont do it, its horrid! go for frog on moodle

well if you get the R2 version your have all the windows 7 policys on the server out of the box and not requiring you to get the policy files from the desktop, and of course more campatiable with windows 7!

Thanks for your help Copied your script has needed and edited for our proxy setting but keep getting this a message everytime when trying to make the exe error: variable used without being declared line 16 even a stright copy and paste and trying to make the exe doesnt work without editing something, so dont think its something im doing wrong nope didnt make reg files, just saying that could be an option to use, but staff member would know what to do but your way would work, i'll try to get the method above working first, if not, i'll try what you have then

thanks, that should work, dont know why I couldnt find anything when I looked ages ago about this +rep but is there anything better, dont really want more programs running in the memory a fair few teachers complain already there laptops run slow Is it possible for some sort of icon setup? One saying, home internet Second saying, work internet Double cick on one and it changess the settings has required anyone able to make something like this? So basiclly a registry file would do this, But cant have the yes no box coming up everytime so really it needs to be an exe with some sort of home logo and business logo for each, so the user does not get confussed when doing this needs to be idiot proof!!!!!! its a shame for the vista computers, when you have the home or public or work selection coming up, it doesnt save these sort of settings with that, would be a good idea

Hey guys just a little question here (yes i know i have been asking a lot, just trying to imporve/sort stuff out, best place I have found to do this with, great people here!) Im just wondering how you guys setup your staff laptops? Do you put these on your domain? Would like to somehow keep the staff laptops more update with newer versions of software But thinking managed programes via group policy would be a bad idea for example if a teacher turned their computer on for the lesson, she/he will be unable to use it until the new software install, which we will get loads of complaints by doing this Every year before the summer holidays we have the laptops in for maintance (We are not allowed to reimage these, because all their work, yes I know its easy to copy) So you can imagine the nightmare or services load of staff computer every year. Normally one department a day, or two deparments a day.

Hey guys need some help here Our ISP make us use a proxy, doesnt work without, teachers are having problem now getting the internet at home, some can get on, some cant because they forgot to take the proxy off or they dont know how to is there a little app that can be made to select whether you are at home (to take the proxy off) and whether your at work (put proxy on) anyone able to make something for this little problem, thanks

Is it possible to somehow without repackaging with thirdparty software to actually intergrate all the current Microsoft Office 2007 updates, instead of just copying the updates to the update folder. It would take too long to deploy on our network (defo the laptops), having it all intergated would take a lot less time. already had complaints, just for updating, java, flash, shockwave, foxit reader which are small programes or would you say just get office 2007 on computer at the time run we upgrade to windows 7 or would use say that there is a way or just too much diffrence at software at once? thanks in advance

why would you need to install it across the network? and let students take the software home too? You make the students do the work on Microsoft Office etc, there is no need for students to be using expect only when using the borad in the classroom, thats connected to the teachers laptop I just dont get why you install it on the network for?

Like you said Install updates and drivers and any software you need installed unless you use group policy to deploy software then use sysprep (I can provide you with a template sysprep setup file) and then if you have a server, install Windows Deployment Services (WDS) set this up and then you can bott the computer up from the network boot for it to create the images of your hard drive. Once this is done your be able to deploy this image just ask if you need more help, this is all free if you have a server!

Hello everyone Seems we have a problem with one of our 2003R2 Servers (A very weird problem) Most of the time when we lanch an exe for an example a installation setup file, it says it cant run it. On others we get a box saying what programe to open it in, even its a program itself Any ideas would be great, if you understand what I have wrote Thanks in advance

Yer thats very true Its annoying I dont know how much the school paid for the Secro Skillspace VLE we have at the moment, I suppose it could have been worse than that Having a server at the school would be better has we can have bigger files on the school (Think we can only have 10MB Files atm)

ok thanks for the info people Only people im thinkingwe would have, if we was to get this is that we have two networks, one for the admin/finince side and one for the students, we have switches that can configure the port to eithier admin or the student network, but how could both network communcate? would the frog server have to go on the admin network? and has its on the network were our secro server is, it can get to the data. So to get the site on the student network, im gussing that it work over the intenet, which means the student can get it on their network and anywhere? Sorry for the long reply guys, been very busy All cabing should be cat5 and fiber between nework boxes ------------------------- Kinda have sorted the wireless problem out, on the 32 laptops, before they could actually get all the laptops logged on for a whole lesson, whichs is 50m mins (Lucky if you got one on) Sorted this by using two HP Procurve 420 Wireless Points (16 on each), still they can take a while to log on, last time I heard, it took about 15 mins, for them to log all on. ------------- Mantory Profiles have well confussed me now, some has said it does stores it locally, and one has said it doesnt and always gets it from the server each logon What is the correct answer? ------------- Another thought with the speed issue, before I reinstalled windows xp on these laptops (Before they were reloaded, they was still using the pre installed factory image from toshiba, but on the domain with settings added of course) Would this cause a problem? I use WDS using a sysprepped WIM Image with all the updates and some programs like anivirus, and our monitoring software Cause I have heard using a image when reloading computers causing problems Im sure the laptops were quicker before I reloaded them ------------- Im in a rush to deploy Windows 7 because I want it all sorted and I really dont like XP anymore, and prefere the use the lastest, its problery easyier to mantain the deployment image too, I blieve you can just intergrate the updates without having to install the image, update it and then save and upload the new image to the server. Plus if the image is easier to deploy, we can reinstall the computers more often, causing less problems, has its maintaning the computer more ------------- Have found a very easy way for our support ticket software. Found a software package called XAMPP, this instal all software like php, mysql etc and confire it to run etc, Managed to get joomla running from that to test it. So this should work for osticket, which I couldnt figure out how to use ------------- Very intrested in joomla, loads of extensions you can get, should be better than normal html. Need to know more about Frog or Moodle first, our Skillspace VLE is rubbish and needs to be changed. What I need to know if we should have the new VLE has the homepage and have all the stuff we have now on the homepage but using the VLE software So maybe no need for joomla, what you think?
