  1. Hi, No I haven't check out the packages but I've even played around with Joomla for a bit. Got it up and running and did some simple things. It's too time consuming to learn and read everything when there's money for us to pay for setup and maintenance. I want someone to train me and someone to call when I need help. Were you refering to the site Joomla Packages : Joomla Development Made Easy or did you have another site? We are ruling out freelancing because we want to work with a company who has dedicated staff for maintenance and support. Thanks, KY
  2. We are trying to update our school website because it's so out of date. Anyone have any thoughts on SchoolWorld Anyone using something similar or have any recommendations for school websites? We're a small school and as the IT Admin, I have a lot of other duties so I need something easy for me to learn and maintain. So I'm stuck doing this. This site seems to have the features we need. Such as lesson planner modules and more. Their portfolio has nice templates. They fit into ERATE so we'll be getting 90% of our money back for hosting and maintenance. Any input of ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks, KY

    smart board

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Decided to go with SMART. Our four boards just came in yesterday and I was able to unpack, install it fairly quickly with the mobile stand. As for the software and drivers, it installed with no problems. Haven't got any errors yet with the software. One teacher with experience is using it already. The kids love it! I'll say I'm happy so far from the technical view. KY.

    smart board

Hi everyone. We just received our grant and we're going to purchase some. 5k for three classroom setup. I'll just want a feel of what people has used and what has worked and didn't work. Looking for feedback on tech support, warranty, ease of use, teacher curriculum/lesson plans, features. Looking into mobile board as it'll have to be moved around. Some of the brands I'm looking into are: Smart, Numonic and Promethean. Any thoughts would be appreciated. KY.
  5. Thanks for the feedback everyone. From research, the Ruckus seems really nice and would fit all my needs. With my site layout, any recommendation on getting 2 or 3 APs? 3 would be really close to my limit. Any thoughts on SonicWall products. The school currently have it as the main firewall. Be nice to keep one product line. It seems to be around the same price line as the Ruckus. -KY
  6. As part of our technology plan for the next few years, I've taken the task of implementing wireless technology to our school to broaden our education needs. Looking for some help or advice from people in the education system first that understands our situation. Talking to vendors, they will just try to take as money from us as they can. We have a 3k budget for this. I've setup small home wireless networks but I know with this project, it's going to require a more secure and managable system. Site Overview: Already an existing LAN system with firewall/AD/exchange/file servers so the wireless will just be an integration. Location is approximately 210ft x 75ft. Plan is to cut the school into three zones (70ftx75 per zone). There is an upper and lower floor per zone. There are a mixture of concrete and dry wall throughout the building. Depending on how strong the wireless router is, I plan to put one or two AP per zone. These are some of the things I've figure out from research below that I'd like. AP requirement: 1. Wireless N, G, B compatibility 2. Level of setup: moderate as I'm planning on researching and doing it myself. 3. POE if available 4. Seamless roaming through different APs 5. VLAN to separate internal network. Guest account capabilities. (Multiple profiles: student, staff, admins, contractors) 6. Need Wireless Access controller to maintain all APs 7. dual band. 8. gigabyte APs I've looked at the HP ProCurve brand but it seems to be way out of the budget. I've also look at the Cisco WAP4400N and it seems to be what i'm leaning towards (can't seem to find a controller to match with it). Are there they other products that you guys have used that has worked really well. What is reasonable with my budget? Any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks, KY
  7. Hello, I just found out about this program too and it would be awesome if i can actually get it to work. I'm the technology teacher and network sys. admin. At first, it did work. I was able to set up the master computer and and see all the clients and process all the functions of this program. but shortly after. I got this same error as everyone. "no valids keys or they are broken" and then ICA service not running error(even though it is) and lastly, the "authentication error X.X.X.X. " on bottom taskbar. windows firewall is disable. 1. The ICA service is running. I killed it and restarted it. I see the "I" on bottom. Same problem 2. I took a client computer and reinstall ITALC with the client/master capailty. took same exported key. same error. 3. I did complete uninstall using command prompt on master computer. re-install and set up new keys. still same error FYI. pretty much set the default for everthing. I exported the key from the master install and use it for the clients. when i did the install on clients. I copied the key to their desktop and pulled it from there during installing. So i didnt do any off shares. could this be a problem? I 4. Is there anything in WINDOWS (ports, settings..etc...)that I need to enable and disable that is preventing me from accessing the master application? Basically, what am I suppose to do now? I cant do nothing on the master computer (also clients) since it's stuck.. uninstalling and reinstalling creates same error. I might just have to scrape this program and actually pay for one. Which I dont want to since we're low on budget. I'd really have to push hard for funding. Is there any other similar free program like this? or what other program similar do you recommend if i have to actually pay for one. Any Help would be appreciated. K.Y.
