  1. Where can we get hold of the HP T100 boxes, really would like to test this out (We need 4 classrooms worth of new pcs which is 140 computers plus spares) So this should be cheaper to do!
  2. Hehe i wished just bloddy weird that the fiber port decided to go faulty abot 30 an hour later if i changed the settings still managed to use the switch, in another location that just needs one fiber coneected to it -------------------- The next problem never ends......... our school building work has finished (So staff are moving back to the front of school, to their new offices) We need to setup 4 new switches Has I explained before we have three vlans (Student, voip and admin) We have tried to configure the switches extually the same has another switch. This other switch is extually the same model (HP 2650-48) that switch can get the voip and admin network which is what we need. So we copied all the settings on to the new switch Think when we done this, everything work expect no internet (We got admin network connection through, which should of course get the internet) We also configured the port that the switch connects to on the main network swith unit (Not connected by fiber because it right next to the main network switch) to the same has the other switch that works So any ideas why this is not working? It should work has it has all the same settings! Even tried configuring the ports of switch and the main network switch on vlans, to untagged, tagged, no etc, we done lots of combonations, even throught, has I throught, would not work because the settings for the other switch should work! This is very weird Believe this needs to be done by monday/tuesday So back to stress again Dont understand we copied all the same settings form the same model swith, it should bloddy work (Expect ip address of course) Thanks for all your help so far guys
  3. Hey guys Ok for some reason our xp image (WIM) started to not work, every time we install it onto a computer, it keeps looping. We have two images one for mutilcore and one for single core processor Now when I have tried to make a new image it still does it I have even just tried a install xp sp3 on a computer, not changing any settings or installing drivers, sysprep that and make wds make the image After of course the problem happens when installing it again I have installed it onto the same model of the computer too I have tried making the image on a sata hard drive with the ide mode enabled, tried installing that onto the same computer and also a computer with an ide hard drive (Same model computer, expect different hard drive) And same process above but made the image on a ide hard drive I dont remember what computer I used to make this before, so that does not help, never had this problem before, also never made sysprep install any drivers. We really need to reinstall 3 ict rooms, there a mess at the moment (Hopefully new computer soon, with windows 7) but there that bad they need reloading They have very little space too, saw one today with like only 30mb space left, for some reason its only has 15gb partition while the hard drive is actually 80gb, any ideas with sysprep has done that? Any ideas would be great
  4. OK all fixed, found changing the vlan configuration around got it working in the end, seems somehow the settings had changed for it
  5. ok have got a bit futher with this Seem that one of the switches had a broken fiber port (Was not lighting up) So have changed the switch now But still cant get it working It could not get a ip address from the dchp server (I created a static address for it) So I set this to the ip address to static on the switch has well (Same address I set on the dchp server of course) Still got problem - 169 address form both the wireless router and connected by Ethernet stright into the switch Even took the static ip address off the dchp server just in case, no luck So im gussing has it could not get the ip address i set for it from the dchp server, it cant contact it even with a ip set on the actual switch?
  6. sorry! tge? I dont know much about vlans on how to setup them up I know that the swith I configured only had the student network vlan enabled, has no other vlan is needed on that percicular switch How would I check the routing? I didnt change anything about that, wouldnt know how to Hows its a different ip address would a new route need to be added? everyhow you do that This is the problem with the company that sets them up dont tell you how to set them if every needed (Like advance settings, we have had loats of problems with vlans on new switches, has they didnt tell us how to set them up)
  7. Most of our switches already had an old incoreect gateway setting applied to them to them (Quite suprised they were working, about six months or more ago the gateway ip address changed) Just to clarify; you have changed all the various address without any problems until you changed the address on one particular switch Yes that is correct, the last few switches I done was yesturday, which I didnt have have any network prolem complains then. I was has soon has I changed the settings on this routor. I have beens chainging all the same things. The weird thing I noicted, is when I had a static ip address for this switch (not set satic ip address on the switch) I didnt get the ip address, like it has done on all the other switches, so I had to set it ip address actually on the switch instead I didnt check the internet on the actual switches behonest, only on the wireless routor (Well I dont think I did) Could someone make a list for me for things to check/try, better go in eariler tomorrow then
  8. I pretty sure all the settings i done on all the other one are the same I done on these two ip addresses are not used ip addresses are in the range Im thinking some sort of conflict In not too sure how this data boxes are connected I know one is connected to another data box by fiber which from that box it goes to the server room. (The box it connects to, i believe is fine) Im not too sure on the other other box, thats eithier connected to the box that has the trouble which connects to another box which also has trouble or a fiber from the server room which connects to another box which also has Not to sure hows its been setup since our builders cut the fiber, not sure they connected backup the same way The first one would sound the correct way, has one I configured that it didnt work, reconfigured it and it worked. Was then told some classrooms could not connect to I reboot one of the data boxes (Which has the problem) once this was done the data box I just reconfigured stopped working So there must be some sort of conflict, but I cannot figure was throught, they defo have different ip addresses (So its three data boxes not two, sorry)
  9. Hi guys I have been redoing our ip address for all our equipment and upgrading the firmware and taking serial number of the devices Made it so: Wireless routors start from 10.123.67.01 Printers start at 10.123.67.30 IP Cameras start at 10.123.67.50 Switches start at 10.123.67.100 That way they are all one after each other and not mixed all in total different ip address, mades it much easier and tidier Have done wireless routors, printers and nearly all the switches now But have now seemed to have broke the internet and connectivity, from by the looks of it two data boxes The switches we in those two boxes are HP Procurve 2610 (We have three VLANS, One for admin network, one for student network and the voip network) All I have been doing is chaning the IP address and changing the system name on them Have at no problem with the other 18 I have done, doing this For the IP address I have just been setting the static IP address on the dchp server, not on the actuall switch, but have tried just setting the ip adress on the switch on the data boxes that have the trouble, but still no luck Any one have any ideas? Any more info needed just ask Thanks I have stoped quite a lot of people working, at if its not fixed asap, i'll be in a lot of trouble
  10. suppose vmware would be more tricky and more confussing for users, has they will alos need to select a vdi image to use (Would this appear if they are only offered one?) Has your one about 1:10, this computer would be pretty high powered, or was you thinking the oppsite way? saying I can put more users on it (That number was from the microsoft mutilpoint site, so just going by that tbh) Is there any screens integrated with ica/citrix then out of intrest?, or can using TS just byitself any good? that would be easier i suppose, we alredy have two citrix servers for students and staff to connect from home
  11. Thats the idea Does wmware use the TS role?
  12. UMM very tidy! Possible to get it even tidier through, you could use screen with a zero client intergrated into it like the Samsung NC190 So only wires is, one power cable, keybord and mouse and ethernet cable Question is should we wait for the hp t100 zero client which connect by usb using a displaylink chip and have about 3 computers in the classroom, so 10 users for about each computer or get a pcoip box or the samsung intergrated screen and serveral server/blades in our server room and using wmvare
  13. Yer we have 4 2003r2 domain controllers The weird thing is that this problem didnt happened when I first connected it and joined it up has a DC, serveral months later
  14. Yer thats true But we all know that windows server software is more reliable than the normal operating system One way to stop that happening i suppose, is to have a few spare ready to swap over if needed
  15. Really liking the look of this - DisplayLink: Virtual Graphics for Windows Multipoint Server 2010 Anyone know when HP is bringing them out? My plan is to have something similar of a setup, not actually use the multipoint console, just a plain 2008r2 server setup with lots of usb for the client boxes to connect to, has the clients connect by rdp, so should work that way. Yes I know we could use a citrix server, but I would perfere to use rdp (We do have do citrix servers, for students to work from home already) Would like two or three servers in each classroom for this to connect to (usb or ethernet into the server) This way the network would not slow down due to all the traffic, plus it would be faster. Also one know of any other solutions? I like the look of the ncomputing one, but dont like it that it doesnt use rdp, use its own one which is not has good School is complaining the amount of electric we are using, so this would sort it out, plus easier maintance on computer, head is wanting to upgrade 4 rooms has well, so this would save loads of money, if we can figure out something Anyone good any ideas? Needs to be done asap, Like I said, I like the look of the hp one, but have no idea when they are planning to bring them out Thanks
  16. ok today I have just redone my pc running 2008 r2 that I am using for setting up the policys until we upgrade the servers to 2008r2 So nice and fresh install, all updates and latest drivers, just the group policy role installed, nothing else Tried making a new policy, I put a few msi programs on the software list. Closed it, reopened it and tried to added another one, same problem and error again. This is really anoying There is some newer software we need to deploy, but I want to use the same group policy object, I dont want to keep making new ones. This needs to be sorted, I believe this happens in server 2003 now too (Need to double check)
  17. Ok what i mean about the mantory profiles What I would like to do, is instead of using group policy to apply the restrictions for the accounts, what I would like is that the mantory profile I will make has has restrictions applied to it already, so no need for group policy applied to the user expect folder redirection So what I would like to know know is how to apply the restrictions to the mantory profile when I create it. Is there a list of registry settings that I can use to apply the restrictions, or is there a way to get group policy settings to apply to the profile and once its applied and save the mantory profile and disable that grpup policy object the restrictions would say on that mantory profile. Has once its applied thsts one things less its got to do when its logs on Hope you get what I mean now
  18. What winPE version are you using? I find its best to use the winPE version that comes with the Windows 7 disc, has the drivers are more update and im sure it contains more drivers, so far haven't had to inject a single driver on my one yet
  19. When I was setting up the start menu redirection every shortcut on the start menu didnt want to work. Has every time I clicked on a shorcut, it did not lanch the program, instead it done nothing. I managed to fix this problem by putting the shortcuts into a folder. So every time I click on the startmenu, I have to click a folder called software. The other annoying part of the problem is for some reason on the start menu, this folder shows up twice. Any ideas how to fix this? Also would you recommend me making a msi to deploy a mantory profile to the root of the hard drive? So this will speed up logons on wireless computers and I suppose networked computers How about doing that to the start menu too? Would that sort my problem out? Also about mantory profiles, is it possible to make it so it has had the restrictions applied to it already? So I would not need staff or student policys enabled (Of course will need a policy for their network documents folder to be redirected) Also on our current xp student policy we are using (Have made a refreshed one, need to test it out) we have stuff like internet content and intent restriction etc enabled, is there really a need to have all that set, can I leave that out on the new one?) On our domain image, it has been setup to logon once and add to the domain with a power shell script and then reboot. Sometimes this seems to work, but most of the time it doesn't, for example I installed it on 32 computers, all of them did not join to the domain, still on the work group, any ideas why it would do this?
  20. well it works on xp no problem, just install it put in the logon details and proxy so its nothing to do with our proxy blocking anything They say its compatiable with windows 7, I just cant see it Yeo even tried disabling the firewall
  21. Teacher still wants 2003 in her room! So In the end I made a user account called o7 (Short for office 2007) in the administrator folder in its own OU and other policys disabled in that folder, the made a group policy with a log in script to lanch office 2007 setup when it logs on has its lanched with the setup.exe it installs the updates from the folder. Ok its another step we have to now do when we image a computer but it doesnt take long
  22. You still need to use folder redirection for my documents, once that is done it should work
  23. I believe you can set all these settings in group policy side extensions, so no need for scripts
  24. But doing this means problems right? It will not load up your computer policy nor install managed software because your not connected to the wireless right? This is something I would like to do, hate having to enter the wireless keys everytime a student takes a laptop out the trolley and uses it elsewhere
  25. Sorry for me being stupid, what is spark? This? Ignite Realtime: Spark IM Client
