  1. Thats the one login with rangerinstall - it will launch an application on load and it should automaticly blast into the install (if not select it from the drop down menu there). Simlary rangerremove will do the opposite
  2. Could you post a screenshot of the IE error message? We've got HAP+ setup here with TMG as the firewall and all is working well - also have you enabled authentication on the TMG server at all?
  3. Are all the graphics drivers on the PC running ok? Also what is the specification of the PCs as it does sound more like a problem with graphics/aero than printing.
  4. I use Windows Live Mail for one key reason - one day I might change ISP and as such I would loose all the emails (besides anything on my PC). So as said above I'd suggest you look at another email provider and use forwarding rules to get anything new going from your O2 account to this new account - this will scrub out the problem of using your home Wi-Fi as Microsoft/Google/Whoever don't care what connection you are using.
  5. Ok I'll throw it into the mix - the fastest PC in the school at the moment is my PC that sits on the back of my monitor. Its a Zotac barebones custom build and the key part of it is the AMD Fusion APU sitting inside. Smaller than a postage stamp but with enough power for me to do EVERYTHING! and that includes- Photoshop CS2 (largest I've worked on was A1) Windows Live Movie Maker HD editing All the office applications VirtualBox (8Gb of RAM and I've had about 4 VMs running on it at the same time) A million IE9 tabs (well maybe not a million but you get the idea...) and everything else that a IT tech does.... The processor is the E-350 (1.6ghz dual core and a 6310 graphics core) but the key part of it is the OCZ Vertex 3 SSD inside which kicks out fast application load times. So my upshot is....for classroom use (even on multimedia editing) the world of the i3 is limited to low end gaming (and my E-350 runs Crysis 2 at low level anyway) and the thing you need to look at is the storage/RAM - that is where the 'speed' of a modern PC is.
  6. Further to my last post if your school is anything like ours then you will find that the VPN totally changes the way staff work remotely (at least if they have a decent net connection), we have about 80% of our staff now on it using their issued laptops and home PCs. The way its setup is it allows them to fully access the network from home and as such they don't even need to come in to fully work on anything in the shared drives or on SIMS.
  7. We have a SSTP VPN setup powered by TMG 2010 here - only works on Windows Vista/7 though as XP doesn't have the techonlogy required inside it. All we did is assigned a static IP to the TMG 2010 NIC that the VPN was hosted on called our LEA they provided a public IP addressed and NATed the two together opening port 443 as well. Frosting on the cake was updating DNS as well so we have a DNS name that points to that public IP address.
  8. If you have a proxy server does the TMG box have the required exceptions in it? Also does the site you have created have a DNS name and if so does that resolve (ping will tell you) from your TMG box?
  9. Not that it will stop it but I guess its a good thing for the whole freedom of the web thing.
  10. Out of interest (and this may well help you as well) do you have any goals for the project and a clear vision of what the application should look like and actually do? Although I don’t do programming (at least not since college!) whenever I undertake a project like this my first step is to get a sheet of A3 and map out just how I think it’s going to work. For you that would cover the database connection to the web platform (or local application) and then how the end user GUI will look. Also would be a good chance to map out the fields you will be using in the database.
  11. Blu Ray is the way to go - you can pick up a cheap and chearful one for probably the cost of your old DVD player when new (Samsung D5500 3D Smart Blu Ray Player). The other option if you are that way inclined would be to build your own HTPC - just get one of the new AMD Fusion ITX motherboards, put it in a case, add a HDD, RAM and drive (not to mention windows!) and you have a full on entertainment PC through Windows Media Centre.
  12. Thats most odd and I can never say I've had that problem and we are all 2008 R2 here (both fresh install and upgrades) - oviously it is a page file thing if that GPO works but I would look at other causes too. Maybe something to do with the hardware you are running?
  13. It works a treat, the Acers and older HPs that we've got have a SD card which goes all the way into the machine so it dosn't even stick out. One of our new buying musts for staff laptops is a TPM chip now
  14. Certinly be - we've got SD cards in all our staff laptops that don't have TPM.
  15. SSL all appears to be working fine for us - are you using HTTPS inspection at all?
  16. Are you deploying your XP images to the same hardware as they were captured on?
  17. Boot your PC onto Windows PE (if you don't have a copy of PE to hand you can just boot onto a Windows 7 or 2008 R2 disk and select 'repair my computer' and then go into command line). Run the command 'diskpart' Run the command 'select disk 0' Run the command 'clean' Thats all without the 's
  18. Try booting into just normal Windows PE and running the 'clean' command on the disks inside the PC - this will not only delete the data but the disk partitions as well. Other than that could you post an photo of the full error?
  19. Even with no one in there most of the time you will still want something that works 100% of the time without any hastle - and wireless radio links between the points probably isn't the best way to go. Idealy if you can laser links or at best just some Cat6 between the sites and then your Wireless APs inside. With so few devices one single subnet range would work fine
  20. Bitlocker helps out with this - not that every machine has a TPM chip in though......

    ThinClients

10zigs all the way here - nice tiny little machines that just get the job done. We use them with our Kaviza VDI (which is based upon Citrix HDX) and can't complain. The cheap Linux ones go for about £180-£190 as well and all come with a 3 year warranty.
  22. Oh well - As I said to be honist just using simple terms on a day during the holidays when I am working over Lync 2010 more than coming on here!
  23. As a proud ex-student of Physics and someone who is keenly interested in the world of science I take offense by anyone saying that 'magic happens' isn't lying when referring to the splitting of the atom by a neutron. lol!
  24. Semi proving my point - you have to start simple first.
