Yep time to explain them there are other ways - do get them to look over Windows Parental Controls which can help montor usage but when it comes to personal messages without consent you have a whole world of hurt coming up...
-
Not that I'm a parent and I'm sure you have your reasons but would it not be better to use parental controls built into Windows to monitor/log PC usage and as far as passwords goes its usaly best if you discuss your potential concerns and obtain the passwords through consent.
-
Are we talking about a parent tracking their kids passwords or something for a school?

Check both your NTFS and importantly the share permissions on your DFS setup - I can only imgaine that this is a login issue.

Too right - little bit extreem but just look at how the Nazis took over.....
-
Its a sad thing - this just isn't what England is about
-
BNP Link - it makes bad reading, only thing is I can see people agreeing with them.

Nice going and thanks for letting us know what the problem was in the end!

Please see later comment as well about that split second reaction....

Further to that and using your 2003 and 2008 part - I know precisely where many settings are in 2008 and this can translate back fine to 2003 (which indeed I have used as well) however because I'm used to using 2008 it might take a second or two longer for me to figure out just where that setting is. In a IT situation that’s no biggy - however put that in a fast moving riot....that one or two second longer of thought/action could mean a big difference between putting someone down hard on the ground and restraining them and putting someone hard down on the ground and cracking their skull.

I'm looking wayy beyond basic here and more at pre deployment training. The basics may be there but not recently practiced (or put into practice for those who have come back from deployment) in the right context.
-
And what has their training been focoused on most recently? Fighting in Afgan - yes indeed to many senses training and policing out there as well however its a whole diffrent world here in the UK. To that degree as well who has the better training to police the UK streets? The Police or the Army? as such should we not use the forces that are best suited to the current needs.
-
Not targeting your point directly (bit more general and sweeping but hey!). The police are there to protect the people and keep the law and order - they are trained to handle complex situations on the streets of the UK. The Army/Military are there to protect the nation from other nations through the deployment of weapons - they are trained to handle complex situations on the streets of other nations. Indeed if you are a detachment of 30 men and you have a large force coming towards you your next move is to lay down as much fire as possible and reach for the RAF to rain down an air strike. So although the Army wouldn't go in with weapons they would go in with the wrong training/experience for the situation. I'm sure many members of the military would like to help - after all they feel a strong enough link to the country to fight for it but that doesn’t mean they signed up to start policing the streets.

I'd say Dells advantage (over HP and so on) is their marketing - ads in the papers, ads on billboards, ads supporting by PC World (ect) on the TV and ads on Google Ad words. This appeals to the 70% of the population who doesn’t know better and so they just go out and buy a Dell.... Having said that HP is still the largest PC retailer...so why is that? My thinking is its part to do with big businesses sticking with the company they trust (personally I wouldn't go near a Dell).

Boy do I love being a 21 year old with a few brain cells to rub together - although I do have the Cubs, Scouts and the Air Cadets to thank for a well-founded sense of community and what is the right thing to do. Now are more organisations like that going to help? To be honest I don't think so as the kinds of people who appear to be causing all of these problems have no interest in youth organisations like that. That then leaves it down to good parenting and the schools to install a sense of what is British – only thing is the parents are just part of the same vicious circle and the schools are well out of their depth when it comes to these kinds of things. I’m now a member of the RAF volunteer reserves and are more than saddened to see how this can happen in ENGLAND….by that I mean this isn’t Syria and this isn’t Egypt but for some strange reason in our western civilised world some parts of the population still feel that they can tear up out capital city!

I moved two servers from the B110i RAID controler (which I belive the DL G6s use) to P410 cards over the holidays - one of the servers took the RAID move fine but the other wasn't having any of it at all with problems as you describe above. In the end it was down to a reinstall of Windows and setup again - it was a virtual host though so it was easy enough to get everything going again.

It probably wont help you but if you go into folder options its possible to show those USB card reader drives - just untick 'Hide empty drives in the computer folder'.

You can run WSUS cleanup which will get rid of any out of date/expired updates as well as clean up the WSUS database. Also check your Windows product lists - its all too easy to be running a Windows 7 network but still getting Windows XP updates downloaded if you haven't unticked its box. Either way our update folder is 24GB.

If its a SAN I would guess there is something in the web management console?
-
Is it only that one networked drive and are any other servers/pcs having problems getting to that networked drive? Also try pinging the server that drive is hosted on from the server that you get that error message on - long waits for responses could show problems with network cabling/drivers.

ESXi 4.1.0 not seeing RAID

Not that it helps but its one of the reasons to use Hyper-V it works with anything that Windows Server/7 can run on. -
120GB does all I need (in my work PC) Its my good old WD VelociRaptor 300GB drive (home gaming PC) thats feeling the pain though - need to get one of the new bigger ones or just go SSD.

You can do something simlar from disk cleanup - just run it on your OS disk and select 'clean up system files' - then on the list you will find service pack backup files You can also use disk cleanup to get rid of old snapshots/system restore points which helps to cut down on the space usage (expecily if you have a small SSD!).

Have you flashed the firmware on your graphics card at all? Also do you have another computer that you can try running the graphics card in with those games - that would tell you if its a hardware problem or not.
