Are you running it over HTTPS and also check your config files that the drive maps have the permissions listed there as well. e.g. Where you see the enablereadto and enablewriteto thats the permissions that HAP uses in the first instance.

HP finally release the replacement to the ProLiant ML115
jamesfed replied to ServersPlus's topic in Hardware
I don't think HPs target was to ever replace the ML115 with the Micro Server - more to introduce a new end of sever designed for the small business who just want to store files (maybe not even run AD) and for the home users who want to run Windows Home Server. Its not like its even 'server' class hardware going in there like you might find in the current ML series. We’ve got one of the MicroServers here for our IT class and they love its simplicity in design and they are getting a lot of learning out of having their own dedicated kit. All the same though when we kitted out our last Primary School it was done using a ML110 Quad Core as this is a more serious production environment. -
Any specifics on the error? (screen shots ect) We have HAP running on our internal web server with the data on a seprate server and I can't think of any extra setup.

New Server for Exchange 2010 (500 users)
jamesfed replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Enterprise Software
Sorry pulled that one out of the whole new features of DAG where (as far as I understand) you don't need a SAN to have HA That’s all why HP have come about with their new Exchange server hardware where you get two blades in an enclosure with a tone of SAS connectors to hook up to D2600/D2700 arrays - and so using uberly high speed direct SAS links. -
HP finally release the replacement to the ProLiant ML115

I'm wondering if AMD just have a load of the Neo processors just lying around that they are practically giving away to HP to make space for the newer E-350 (and similar) APUs. Especially considering the Neo line was supposed to fill the gap that AMD had in the ultraportable line (which it did very well with the HP dv2 in my opinion in using this laptop daily) but with an extra graphics boost which is now totally filled by the APUs. -
New Server for Exchange 2010 (500 users)
jamesfed replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Enterprise Software
You could probably shave a little off by using 10k drives instead of 15k if you are using a SAN. One little point to note (and not that it may concern your deployment) is that Microsoft suggest that Exchange 2010 uses Local/DAS storage. -
[for sale] 2x Western Digital VelociRaptor Drives (150GB)
jamesfed replied to jamesfed's topic in Classified Adverts
Would be the perfect reason to put my new 500GB one in my media centre PC (at least when I build it) and to get one of the Gen 2 drives -
Basicly our setup is 2x HP DL165 G7s with a P812 1GB FBWC and a D2600 with 8x 15k 300GB SAS drives (RAID0+1) The setup is so insanely fast (but then again I've never seen a SAN in action so I'm only comparing against what I know). I think the 2x P812s, D2600 and drives came to a little over £4000.

[for sale] 2x Western Digital VelociRaptor Drives (150GB)
jamesfed replied to jamesfed's topic in Classified Adverts
Actually at my 11th hour of research that's what I have decided to go with - have a 5% discount at OCUK and are getting one of thr 500GB and one of the 250GB drives -
Most of what you probably want to know is here - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01451157/c01451157.pdf Basically think dual port SAS allows multiple redundant routes to data in a Smart Array.

Sorry should've included - Windows 7 index rates them as 6.1 in the RAID0 array using the built in AMD RAID tool - see image -
[for sale] 2x Western Digital VelociRaptor Drives (150GB)
jamesfed posted a topic in Classified Adverts
Hi all, I have two WD VelociRaptor of the following specification for anyone who wants them- 1x SATA 1.5G 150GB 3.5” VelociRaptor 10,000rpm - £30 1x SATA II 3G 150GB 3.5” VelociRaptor 10,000rpm - £40 Both drives are in good condition and have been used in RAID0 for about 2 years with no issues. £5 postage to anywhere in the UK (recorded) per drive however if you would like both then I’ll wave the postage (so £70 total). Basically selling them now as 300GB is no longer enough storage for me so I am switching on up to the 600GB version - if only SSDs were as cheap! If you need a SATA cable then just let me know and I can throw them in. As usual more happy to deal with a fellow edugeek than someone on eBay Any questions just PM me or post them here, James -
Its all in the config files - from there you can also say which drives are visable to which users (e.g. staff shared visiable to staff but not students).

[video] Don't get stuck in the IT past
jamesfed replied to jon_Walsh's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
Odd one there - I found it as easy to setup as installing a copy of Server 2008 R2 on any normal bit of server kit. Setting things up for HA was again very easy with System Centre doing all the leg work. -

Besides real live migration I don't see what Hyper-V is missing - also if you take a look System Centre VMM already supports both Hyper-V and VMWare and the BETA includes XenServer support as well. -
Name 3 types of connection that can be used for a hard drive?
jamesfed replied to mhussain's topic in General Chat
When used with the word 'connection' as in the OP I think that would count as 3 -
Have a look in the GPOs that you can download from the Microsoft website should be what you need in there - Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - 2007 Office system Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool version 2.0

Some questions about....Green & Energy Efficent ICT
jamesfed replied to JonnyAcousti's topic in Green Computing
Server Virtualisation and Desktop Virtualisation are our two big 'Green IT projects' with the desktop side being the biggest savings. Especially when it comes down to a 110W PC or a 12W thin client - which do you go for! Stick in a highly efficient server in the background (iLO says ours is running at 160W at the moment with 20 desktops running). Personaly I am all for Green ideas - it may have something to do with the fact I'm 21 and would like to keep this planet going for as long as possible -
What do you want your intranet to do as well? Ours includes staff and student home pages, room bookings (MRBS), some basic SharePoint and a few other things.

Remote Access Connection to our other schools
jamesfed replied to stebo730's topic in Wired Networks
A simple VPN would probably be your best bet then use RDP or VNC to provide the remote desktop. Another option would be something like log me in 123 which would run just over the normal internet connection.
