Ran Ping Castle and found an outdated Windows 10 - seems to have slipped the net in the summer. The version is 1607..... does anyone know if I can do a TS in place upgrade to 20H2? Have done a TS upgrade from 1903 to 20H2 but not sure if it will do an upgrade on such an older version. Cheers.

I've installed Zabbix and have it monitoring switches and APs at present - hopefully will add the agent to my Hyper-V cluster at some point. I've installed Grafana and I'm having a play and creating a couple of dashboards and so far so good. For a UP/DOWN dashboard for switches/APs. - Am I best using using ICMP or SMP availability to determine if a device is up or down? - If using ICMP, how often does it ping the device? - If using SNMP availability, how often does that check? For Traffic graphs, I have noticed there is approx. 5 mins lag in the graphs in Zabbix and Grafana, so the graphs in Grafana are always behind..... is this by design or am I missing something or doing something wrong?? Ok, so I changed to Raid Controller from Raid to JBOD mode. Created a Software Raid using ubuntu and all reported fine - until I start copy data to the array. At first I thought it could possibly 2 faulty discs as they appeared to be the same discs each time, but that idea went out the window as tried again this morning and 2 different discs are now showing as removed Cannot see it being the actual card as it worked flawlessly when running with Windows, same goes for the discs and the raid config. Will continue to have a poke around and if come to it, may end up having to re-jog some things around to re-use another server which will be a faff as will need to migrate data across first......

We had sharp for the last 6 years and hardly any issues - but current supplier has mentioned that Sharp were or had closed their UK parts center so all parts now come from Europe which is now causing a delay in some repairs - that a knock on effect from China as some parts are made in China...... Have cone back to current supplier who are quoted for the Develop machines - was nice to actually see some nice completive quotes for a change and we ended up looking into copy cost and the charges within the SLA to pick the supplier.

Currently going through loooking at renewing our managed print solution and wondered what peoples thoughts are on the following devices..... They will be managed via Papercut and follow me print queues....... I've not used any of these devices so I have no idea what the quality is like. Sorry for the late reply, was away last week with next to no signal. All disks report fine and no issues being reported by the controller. - worked fine when running as a windows server with all the 23 VMs running from the array. As it is for Veeam Immutable backups, they recommend XFS, so not sure if ZFS is supported - will have to take a look later today. May try removing the array altogether and leave the disks as single disks and see if Ubuntu can handle them better in a software raid. Cheers.

I thought I had managed to install Ubuntu 20 on an repurposed Windows Server which use to hold VM data, so I could use it to hold Veeam immutable backups. I wiped the array and reconfigured it so that the existing arrays are as follows. Server has a MegaRaid (Avgo) Raid Controller. 8 x 120GB (Raid 0) SSD Caching Arrary 16 900TB (Raid 6) Data Arrary. and 1 x SSD Intel onboard controller for OS Installed Ubuntu 20.4 LTS, and managed to get it up and running and since this morning, it had been working fine or so I thought...... This afternoon, copy backup jobs have been failing - when I have looked at the server, it mentioned IO Buffer error and just now it mentioned Raid control in critical error. My Linux usage is basic - so I have no idea who to start diagnosing the issue. I'm wondering if the controller is struggling to cope with the amount if data hitting the discs..... Anyone any troubleshoot ideas for Linux?? Cheers Cheers

I’ve just updated from 1.7 to latest version but I’m running a Linux VM to host then Xibo back end and windows clients to run the signage. Opted for a clean install and then I manually exported all the layouts and imported to new server without issue. Also did the same for the media. Uninstalled the old windows client and installed the latest client. So far all going will without issue.

Installed on an i3 NUC to test SCCM deployment and I’m happy no changes required to my TS (apart form swapping the install.wim for Win 11) even happier the existing credhost changes I have worked straight off! So looks like others have said - Windows 10 reskinned and going to take some getting use to for some staff if and when we deployed it when Windows 10 goes EOL.

Well that’s fun - imported into SCCM and shows as Windows 10 and which I doubled checked I downloaded tbe correct ISO, I noticed the MAK keys are the same as existing Windows 10.

Back in 2013 I CPU minded Einsteinium and later upgraded to a couple of 28mhz scrypt miners. After swapping and changing between different coins I had 6.4 bitcoins..... cashed out in 2016 for approx £2,500 and paid for honeymoon and I was happy with the decision to sell. Now if I had kept hold of them..... at recent prices....... Well I have no regrets about selling them back then and I would have done the same if I had a crystal ball as it paid for some wonderful memories. Would I start again - I'm on the fence but as other have said only spend what you can afford to loose and remember - and remember to figure in capital gain tax depending on the amounts you earn.

Interesting as I’ve seen some of these of late. Ended up going to the office 365 portal and removing the office activations for the user and that seems to resolve the issue (or they not continued to tell me still not working) Once removed if the close and open any office 365 app, all then ok (when I’ve tested as the use via impero)

I’ve got a canon ipf8400se which does up to A0 and is a great bit of kit. We print canvas print, outdoor banners, pop up banners and also poster printer (mainly A2). Poster prints are mainly for art course work. What I like is the accountancy module that come with it (not sure if other models have it) put we put in cost of ink purchases, paper etc and it then works out total cost of a job by how much ink and paper is used. We then charge departments only the cost of the job. Typical cost of a poster print was approx £1 - £1.50 Outdoor banners typically cost £5-£10 and when we did some out other schools we charged approx £20 All depends on amount of ink used etc.

Going to hold off for as long as possible but run in IT Support so we can test, test and get ready for the complaint of how different it is.

Just having a rejig after swapping Hyper-V hosts so had to re-organise backups etc. Since end of August, Old Backup had 26TB storage and is kept offline as it holding old backups prior to new servers going in - and was configured to copy the most recent week/month in a second location New Refurb HP Gen8 has 48TB storage with a 10Gb SFP+ connection. - this is my only backup at present since end of August. - I know, no need to say anything! Just about to set up another server for immutable backups to hold weekly/monthly secondary jobs. - Will be a another HP Gen8 in another location.

Currently a NRS user and must admit I must fall lucky when dealing support - that said we only called them twice in the last 12 months. First time was to change the timing on the kiosk machine and the other was to replace a broken LCD screen - which admittedly they mess up with by ordering the wrong part but worked out well for me as I only paid for the cheaper, wrong part! Currently on version 7 and will only be looking to upgrade/move once Windows 10 become EOL. Think support is an issue at most companies these days as they are lacking the training and/or number of staff to provide effective support.

Morning all I have a GPO which enables and disables the switch user option depending on who is logging on. Since moving to 20H2 I have noticed it has become hit and miss as to if it applies even thought the registry key appears. Anyone having issue or come across this? Cheers

Naming conventions was already in place when I arrived many moons ago. Students Year of intake + Initial of first name + first 5 characters of last name Jenny Johnson in Year 7 = 21JJohns Staff Initial + Full Last name John Smith = JSmith

How many schools use a house system - and of those schools, do you export your house points from SIMS and display them on your signage screens? We have just started using a house system and been asked if I can display the house points on the signage screen. I have a vague recollection of someone doing something similar on here but searching has turned up nothing. Anyone any hints, tips, scripts that could help? Cheers
