Just put outlook as a startup item and then it will show them how many messages and remind them every time they logon to read it!!

Virus's, hacking attempts, unsuitable content, unlicensed/illegal applications the list goes on for reasons not to allow them. As for locking down the flat network look at the various threads that already exsist about limiting access.

In which case server 2003 R2 so you can use GPO's to deploy the printers. (might be worth buying as a 2008 r2 License and using it backwards so you are ready licensed when you come to upgrade.

Dual/quad core 2/2.2 with 4gb ram and server 2008 r2 would be a good start with plenty of capacity.

Just be sure to check you are licensed with Exchange CALS, i believe you dont need a CAL to use Outlook web but you do to use outlook. Thanks JAmes

I would say the laptops (where provided) are for use in line with their work duties, therfore if they are off sick or on maternaty or paternaty and are therfore not working they do not need thier laptops as they do not have any work to do on them, what else would they need them for? Thanks James -

Depending on your drive config id be tempted to add a 4th drive to make a raid 5 array with a spare disk so it is still accesibile even if you disk fails (you wont gain any capacity but you will gain the redundancy) - other than that looks good. Thanks James PS - What OS are you running on it?

XAMPP - works on a windows box - dead easy to install and manage and can update htdocs folder from any where on the network like a windows share. THanks James

Why did you save a powerpoint as a .doc and not a pptx or ppt for backwards compatability.??

Is it worth doing the mcse - server 2003 is old now and server 2008 is becoming more common - better to go for your MCITP in server 2008 instead.
