    Using ACTIVE boosters (i mean the ones you have to put an AA battery in) i have gone about 60m with USB before, unpowered extensions will go up to 10 maybe 15 depending on what you put at the end - powered devices (printers etc) that have a seperate power supply are better at the end of a long run than a usb powered device.

    Yes there may be but the 802.3AF standard allows for this and most POe injectors provide at the top level voltage but devices work at the voltage to the voltage -10% to allow for the voltage drop. Thanks James

    Actually Cat 5 is certified to 110m total length You are allowed a 100m structured run and a maximum of 2 5m patch leads (one each end) or a combinantion of the above.

    No youd have to migrate but thats easy enough i you are moving to a new server(virtual or physical) just not the same box - although thats possible but a bit more long winded.
