Look at the hard drive and see if theres an adapter on it - most old compaqs were IDE with an odd connector - take it out of the caddy and pull off the adapter then it should be standard IDE. THanks James

I can see both sides of this argument and agree with virtually all the points raised. Can i suggest a solution if all parties agreed?? that Simon considers part exchanging the drives for the correct ones as required (on payment of the relevant difference in cost). Simon then has 10 drives that he can sell to the next person that asks, uses as competition prizes or uses as part of any custom PC builds he has coming up that only need dvd rom drives. The client would have what he needed - Simon would not be too far out of pocket and everyones a winner?? A relatively easy solution that hopefully would suit all parties and maintains the good rep of Simon ( an excellent guy in 99.9 % of peoples eyes).

Change the adapter type attached to the virtual machine - i was using the default and getting problems - change to an intel one and a bridged adapter and it worked straight off. Thanks James

Use group policy preferences and client side extensions in server 2008 They are great, easy and fast.

You need to install to adminpak from the servers install disk - your machine will need o be a domain member as well if it isnt already. GPedit is for the local GP not domain.

Thats a little high for a Nursery - i normally aim for 12-18" in a nursery, 15-22" in reception and then 20-30" in KS1 - if its not as required by the client its a freebie im afraid. THanks james

Are you leaving outlook running during your testing because those rules only run when outlook is open?

Are you using the rule function in outlook or setting a redirect in AD or the management consoler?

Not wishing to be a stuck record but its the voltage drop - theres enough to power the basic im a scanner electronic but not enough for the please scan electronics.
