Was anyone else having connectivity problems with EMBC between 3pm yesterday and 9am today?

I'm still awaiting a fix for the Solus upgrade to FMS without SIMS issue. We've just had Capita in to do the 6.91 upgrade - by god I'm glad I didn't try and do it myself - in the end he had to copy everything off the server onto a laptop, do the upgrade and then copy it all back - he came with a fist full of CDs that I wouldn't've had access to - what a shoddy system it is...

I don't reckon thats anywhere near enough - you wouldn't get a plumber or electrician for that money. I broke a key in our back door the other day - it was £70 call out for a locksmith and he was only there about 5 minutes.
-
You can get an image of 6.85 from Capita support - they are on their FTP server - I had to get them last week for our upgrade (though it did take them 2 days to realise that they were available) - while I was on - I did notice a 6.100 image there too - not a 6.91 though.

The demise of eLC (E-learning Credits)
SpuffMonkey replied to Ex-MGSTech's topic in Budgets and Expenditure
I put an unrestricted PC in the staff room for people to play with trial software - it was never used and ended up dumped on the top of a filing cabinet in the end....and it didn't stop teachers throwing a nasty home copied CD in my desk and telling me to install it by after break ...as if... -
Hi Alex - I think you need to forward to "relay.embc.uk.com" not smtp...
-
our Citrix portal and logmein connections are both broken since Thursday - any ideas anyone?

I've just been told that we are embarking on the trip from CMIS back to SIMS - anyone else done it and have any useful tips/warning stories? You can PM me if they are too painful to share in public

Is anyone else's internet completely down? Ours went off late on Thursday night and still isn't back - which is irritating as I was supposed to be doing some remote work...
-
Many thanks - I'd missed that one!

We seem to be receiving emails OK - but when I go to the EMF (http://smtp.embc.org.uk/) screens to free up Quarantined and SPAM emails - there is nothing there - (unlike the 100s every day that were there up til last week) - should I be going somewhere else to do this now??
-
Yes - I can see that - in there it shows the credentials as administrator, as I would want - so where is it getting the other stuff from? profile??
-
Nope..

Hi - Just installed a new PC for myself - but... When I Remotely connect to servers, it "remembers" lots of old and inappropriate login details, and offers them up as the login first - anyone know where these are stored or how to get rid of them??

Any other Mensa members here?

When I was a student - some lads got a ladder to the local National Westminster Bank (as was) and rearranged the big plastic shop sign letters to read Nation Bestial W@nk - which made us smirk - plastic letters removed and name was painted on shortly after..

Nagios and Cacti - I think Cacti is a brill bit of kit - and has helped identify several network issues.
-
We have set ones - but different colours for staff/students etc - so it should be obvious when someone is accessing an account that is of a different level to theirs (ie students with staff logins & passwords)
-
Surely this is the ultimate aim and the motivation behind these moves towards VLEs and personalised learning - push all the "teaching" onto a standardised externally managed system and let kids access it from wherever they want - all you need are access points and "facilitators" and you can be rid of expensive, highly unionised teachers for good. Or am I just too cynical
