  1. I'd have to say that, really, that rampant house price inflation hasn't be caused by people who bought their homes a long time ago - I bought mine 19 years ago - right at the top of a previous price spike and then watched myself fall deep into negative equity and face redundancy - so certainly haven't contributed to the silly prices seen now. IMHO, what has caused this situation is irresponsible lending by the banks, combined with small pockets of people on ridiculously high wages. If (as when I was buying my first house) you were not allowed to borrow more that 3.5x the biggest earners salary - there wouldn't have been this stupid inflationary spiral. The banks were deregulated in the 80s because they didn't need to be restricted, and could be trusted (cough cough). The restrictions had been put in place by Govt after a similar frenzy in the 1920's lead to the 30s depression - and we know what it took to get out of that! Alas - this time - there doesn't seem to be the inclination to step in and do something, apart from throw good money after bad and reward the banks by passing on even more cheap funds to them.
  2. XP_Pro/2003 further details, though the fix wouldn't work for us Folder Redirection Broken in SP3? - MSFN Forums
  3. Just a heads up - we're trying to create a new "build" and it looks like SP3 breaks folder redirection unless the user's profile has all of the folders that are being redirected already within it. Which kind of makes it a bit pointless for "Desktop" and "Start" - there was a fix for this in SP2, but not in SP3 yet (apparently). We did try copying over a dll that was suggested - but it keeps being "healed" Ah well, back to SP2 and a big download...
  4. If you look at Virgin - make sure that you get it in writing that you won't be hit by the new traffic management stuff - its already live on the domestic side - so if you use over a certain amount of bandwidth between 10am and 9pm, your connection is reduced from 20M to 5Mb for 5 hours. Rumours on the ng's suggest this might be pushed to the business connections as well.
  5. I'm glad we're past the nappies and midnight feeds stage...
  6. Or ... A geek was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The geek took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it, and returned it to the pocket. The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you and do anything you want." Again the geek took the frog out, smiled at it, and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The geek said, "Look, I'm an geek. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool." :D:D:D:D
