Personally I would want to centralise data storage and offer it out remotely - maybe offer a Citrix type solution from central servers - its fairly light on bandwidth and fairly secure - though without knowing what the data is and how its used - its difficult to say.

Hi - after a reorganisation, we've some old printers that will be free to a good home 2 x HP2200 5 x HP1100 1 x HP1005 1 x HP4000 2 x HP4650 - both seem to have paper feed problems 1 x HP3700 - only feeds from bypass tray They've all had a pretty hard life - but are working as far as we know - if you're interested - pm me - only condition is that you have to come and collect them pretty sharpish as the Site Manager is getting antsy for his storage space. Yes - it is that simple - copyright resides with the author unless an explicit agreement to cede copyright exists. This is also true of employees - and your contract of employment must specifically cover copyright and who owns it - the school does not hold the rights to resources produced unless the contract mentions it - as a firm I used to work for found out to their cost!

Not sure if this is the best forum - but... We run 2003 and XP, and like most of you (I guess) we have ended up with dozens, if hundreds, of tacky educational applications loaded for all the different departments. I want to monitor how often they are used, with a view to getting rid of the unused apps. I 've tried quizzing the departments, but alawys get that they are all needed - though this is demonstrably not true as we found a couple of apps that had failed after upgrades and no one had even noticed. Can anyone recommend any software that does this? I've thought of scripting "wrappers" for the calls to the apps - but haven't had time to do it - so an easy solution is to be favoured. Cheers

Yeah - Ghost is nice if you can afford it. Also had some success using AutoIT for really painful software.

Have you set the Java registry settings? That sorted out all manner ePortal problems for us - it seems very stable in use now - changes detailed below: Memory settings in the registry can also be checked by going to Start | Run and typing in regedit. Please note that registry settings are very delicate and no other changes should be made to this area. The settings to check are JvmMs and JvmMx. These should have the values 0x00000080 (128) and 0x00000200 (512) as shown. To edit them double click on the name and type in the decimal number that appears in brackets for each value.
