hi, two things that i really need help with. 1. i need to add a printers admin group and add some users to it to make them printer admins. How do i do it? I know how to create the group, but how do i give it the correct privilages. 2. i want to restrict the teachers from resetting passwords using ad, how can i do this? thanks in advance nick

hi I have a script which will enable a teacher to reset a students password to Password1. The script works well however i would like it to expire the password, so that the user has to change it to something unique. I have tried asking the teacher to ensure the students change the password, but they do not. when you say that box, do you mean that server, or the esx box?

hi we use epo4. It was all working fine then today we had a DOS attack and the whole network went down. Ever since i cannot log into epo. I enter the username and password and press enter, nothing comes up (no error messages) and the username and password boxes become empty. There is also loads of red writing underneath the login box. (Cant remember what it says, but can check) I do not know if this is related to the network going down or a coincidence. has anyone else had this with epo 4 and how did you resolve it please. thanks in advance nick

hi everyone we run most of our servers as virtual. (about 8) They all run fine, and we can configure/use them via the console tab in vm infrastructure client. They are all working ok the only problem is the print server will not show up on the console. I just get a black screen. However it works fine and i can use remote desktop to get into it, it is just annoying not being able to use the console. I did not set this one up so i do not know if it was an option that was ticked during setup. please help cheers nick

all printers use the same print driver. This means one stops they all stop. What we did is installed them with the HP universal print driver and this solved the problem. nick

are the syncronization issues over a wired or wireless network? we have this problem at the school, i find the easiest way of sorting it is taking a copy of the profile then deleting the original, so they get a new (empty) one. Then when they come to you to say they cant find a file that was on the desktop copy it to their my docs. This is why you need a copy of it! nick

HI i am an it technician in a school. we use remote desktop to remote into our servers from our office for ease. I have just started there and have loaded loads of programs onto my pc. now i go to remote into our servers and when i try to open windows remote desktop it throws up an error like evaluation version has expired plesase install full version. Does anyone know how i can just reinstall remote desktop, and not have to format and reload. The only reason i need to do this is there is no image for this machine and it took a day to load all the software. thank you nick

hi i am looking for a job as an it technician. i am just wondering if anyone needs one at the moment in their school/college. i am looking around cambs norfolk lincs northants i have a btec national certificate in computer system support i have no experience working in a school, however i have set up several hotels with servers pc's and user accounts policys backups and imaging etc i also have experience in hardware disgnostics and repair as i currently do this as a job. thanks nick

hi I am just out of college,however i have quite alot of experience. i have set up networks and servers with 14 pc's and 32 users. i am also a field engineer. my problem is i have applied for 4 it technician jobs and not even got an interview for one. (there are not many i can find in this area) I guess as i do not have alot of experience i will be put at the bottom of the pile of applications. Does anyone have any idea of any jobs like this in cambs, or norfolk (around kings lynn) or lincolnshire (around boston). Secondly,if i can not get a paid job i thought i could voulnteer for 1 or 2 days a week in an it department as an it technician so i can then get some experience. does anyone have any idea of where any jobs are or anyone who will take me on as a volunteer. i do not mind travelling to northants or beds or herts. i am just desperate for an it technician job. i have good experience of hardware diagnosis and fix as i am a field engineer. thanks everyone nick

hi I wonder;does any one know of any ict technician or junior network administrator jobs in or around the peterborough area. I do not mind driving about an hour and a half. I have done a BTEC in computer system support and have setup ICT systems in local businesses. I can use and program servers and ris servers. I have good knowledge of all aspects of computing and networking, i am happy to prove these to a prospective employer. I am currently an EPOS field support engineer, this has given me a good knowledge of hardware fixing as in the field you have very little spare parts with you. I want to get out of epos support as i feel this is not challenging enough for me. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED thankyou nick
