hi people We have set up dansguardian and squid, and it is filtering lovely. What we need to do now is have dg or squid (not sure which one has to do it) look at our ad and pick up our IEBLOCKED and our students groups. The IEBLOCKED is students who are banned from the internet, and the other is the normal student group. Anyone know how to do this? nick

Hi I have written a php site which will enable teachers to change students passwords without sending to us. (thus not having kids wandering round school wasting as much time as possible) I have this hosted on my php/apache server and have used adldap to call the commands etc. What i need to know is how to set up secure ldap. I have a certificate authority on our IAS server that i can use. Just dont know how to set up ldaps. please help. (will share the webpage if anyone wants it providing it works) nick

hi I have rebuilt our AD recently and want to reinstall certain parts of talmos classroom manager. We only use the password changer, i have tried to install it but it says cannot find user. Does anyone have an install/config guide for talmos classroom manager. I suspect it is to do with my AD setup. thanks ps we have no support and it is hosted on our servers, not a talmos supplied box.

Hi Peeps I have six terminal servers which have cached TS Roaming profiles on them. I got a vb script to delete all profiles except the 'system ones' and it got rid of most of them. However on some profiles it would not delete the profile it says cannot read from source file or disk when trying to delete a folder in c:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\SiteCache\folder that wont delete. the file path is always the same. I have uph cleanup running and the gpo but has no effect on this issue thanks nick

hi gibbo_ap I followed this and it worked, the only other thing i had to do was stop and restart SMTP service. Another important thing to note is the FBA must be switched off before the settings are saved to the file. any problems feel free to post and we will try and help. nick

i think the problem is actullyb the permission required to install the updates whilst the students arer logged on as limited accounrts.

Hi We have got wsus running , updates install fine where the user is a local admin (staff on their laptiops) However when the user is locked down heavily (students) then the updates fail to install. anyone know whatb the problem is? i have spent quite a while looking at this thanks nick

My network manager did a plankish thing. (if plankish is a word:) he was upping the ram on a vmware virtual server (which happened to be our SQL server). instead of pressing the green 'play' button for power on he pressed revert to snapshot. This took the server back to dec 2007!!!!!.... ........so i had to bring up a new SQL server and restore sql backups!!
