  1. have emailed you kim, thanks for your help bud.
  2. hi We have a sunray setup running through to terminal servers. We also have thinstation running to utilise some old desktops, we have the thinstation running to the sunray terminal servers. These terminal servers use the sunray audio driver for audio to the sunray, this is enforced with a windows logon script.(else the audio wont work on sunrays) Is there anyway to get thinstation to use the sunray audio driver to enable us to hear audio through the thinstation pc's. (maybe add the driver to thinstation?) thanks nick
  3. if you want to have a look at a moodle as a website feel free to look at ours www.thepeele.co.uk nick
  4. Sun/oracle also do an ultra thin client as above, I can recommend these sun units. They are the sunray 2, although the sunray3 is out now. If you need any further info or to hear how they work for us feel free to pm me. We use terminal services with these, it works very well for us. However they work well for vdi aswell. If you need to speak to a supplier for these units i can put you in touch with one on edugeek. nick
  5. sorry i was not clear. The iphone wont boot into the os, it always shows the itunes logo. I think her son tried a restore and fluffed it! nick
  6. hi one of our teachers has just handed me her personal iphone for me to have a look at, she wants it restoring to factory settings so she can sell it. it is in restore mode. (when it switches on a picture of itunes and a usb cable appears on screen) so i plug it in, try to do a restore. (i have tried downloading the firmware and restoring offline, and tried restoring using firmware downloaded by itunes). It unpacks the firmware and 'prepares iphone for restore' then throws up an error '1604' on the itunes console. I have googled this and not very much detail on it, anyone got any ideas on how to get it restored. thanks
  7. Have used wireshark on both dc's (the 2003 and a 2008) the problem appears to be a header checksum. The san makes a session request to the 2008, the 2008 replies with the wrong checksum. Wireshark shows an error, which says wrong checksum. This is obvioustly what is wrong. The 2k3 sends the correct checksum which is why it connects. see pics anyone any ideas why 2008 is sending wrong checksum?? thanks nick
  8. Hi synack i think it is using credentials i will try wireshark now. Where can i get it?
  9. Thanks for your reply, firewall is off and time is fine nick
  10. hi i have tried the above, no luck. I have posted below the San admin interface error when trying to see the dc's. "..Not able to communicate with PDC 10.*.*.15 trying 10.*.*.15...10.*.*.15 is alive found PDC EXCALIBUR at 10.*.*.12 ..Not able to communicate with PDC 10.*.*.17 trying 10.*.*.17...10.*.*.17 is alive ..Not able to communicate with PDC 10.*.*.18 trying 10.*.*.18...10.*.*.18 is alive ..Not able to communicate with PDC 10.*.*.16 trying 10.*.*.16...10.*.*.16 is alive" as you can see, it can see the 2k3 (excalibur) but can see the rest just not connest to them any ideas? nick
  11. thanks for your replies, The san is 4 years old. We did, until 2 years ago have a netapp support contract which included firmware. The head then refused to pay for it, said it wasnt worth the amount being charged. To obtain firmware now we would have to go back on support, and its a no from the head. Surely the problem is that server 2008 has increased security, can that be set to 2003 level? If i get my way the SAN will be replaced at the age of 6 years. thanks nick
  12. Hi people we have a netapp fas 270 SAN, which has been doing fine authenticating to the 2003 domain controllers. We have upgraded all the dc's to 2008 except for one. We want to upgrade this one so switched it off to ensure everything runs smoothly, and it doesnt! When the 2k3 domain controller is switched off the san says it cannot connect to the 2k8 dc's. This is affecting file permissions. So is there any way to lower the authentication level to the same level as 2003. nick
  13. Hi We are looking at using dansguardian for our internet filtering. We have squid installed and dansguardian is now installed and running through squid. The next thing i want to do is have DG or squid (not sure which one it would be) look at the ad groups (students, staff, admins) and pull up the relevant filtering for that group. For example students filtering would be stronger than staff etc anyone done this? nick
  14. hi LeMarchand no they havent, these are sunray thin clients so usb drive redirection uses a set port letter. thanks
  15. Have a look at FOG. We use this and it is the best in my opinion. Any questions feel free to ask. nick
  16. hi edugeekers, We have 6 windows 2003 terminal servers, these are connected to by thinclients. When anyone logs on, weather they be student or domain admin, the My Computer screen is blank, no drives are showing. However the drives are there because if i click the drop down arrow on the address bar in my computer they are in that list and accessible from there. The setup is group policy hides drives A,B,C and D, and thats it. there should be H, T and u showing. This has been working for a year and has only just stopped working. As i say i know the drives are being mapped, the only change recently is we have assigned an active desktop wallpaper, which worked for the first day and is now not displaying! anyone got any ideas? nick
  17. i believe you can disable the desktop via group policy. couldnt tell you where to find policy at the mo as not in office nick
  18. wont that block the whole of the h drive?
  19. Hi I am after a way of blocking certain file extensions from running from the users h: drive (redirected my documents). inperticular .mht files! is there a way to do this via Group Policy? thanks
  20. Hi guys and thanks for the replies. yes we do have a published owa url, how would i go about setting the phone up to sync via OWA? nick
  21. hi people The head has an iphone, i understand i can sync it to exchange 2003. I think i can do this with IMAP? has anyone done this? Also how would you do it outside of the school network aswell? thanks nick
  22. I agree. I would use reservations.
  23. hi people We have been running compaq 615's with xp for about 9 months. we have had no problems with the false shutdowns or loops at all. We did not use the downgrade media that came with the laptops but our usual install cd for xp then put the product key stuck on the laptop in, and load drivers from hp.com. All i can think is maybe one of the dribvers on the downgrade media cd is causing your issue, try an xp base cd then download the drivers from hp, if you can to eliminate this. just to point out, we are not CC3. nick
  24. has any one applied for this one yet? and Does anyone know where it is? (maybee grumbledook knows? )
