Any one got Puffin Academy to work on iOS behind smoothwall?
Sylv3r replied to ass17's topic in Educational Software
Quick question, does anybody know how secure this Puffin App actually is? What websites are you thinking about connecting via the app. Could they be harvesting all username / passwords used whilst browsing? I am not trying to create an argument, but I just wonder what sort of information may be getting passed onto a third party. It's the one reason why we haven't installed it on our iPads. -
I am guessing you lot haven't received these e-mails.... Sent 27th October. As you know, we have been working hard to improve a number of issues that we have been experiencing with our Modern Languages Kerboodle courses. Thank you once again for your patience this term. We want to keep you updated with our progress and let you know what we will be working on over half term. Hotspotting The Digital Books for GCSE French 1st Edition Foundation and Higher and GCSE Spanish 1st Edition are now hotspotted. Hotspots include all audios and activities that are referenced in the book. We aim to complete this work for GCSE German 1st Edition and all the A Level courses over half term. Course structures We have now completed our work on the course structures for all GCSE 1st Editions and A Level courses. These structures now match those in the books, making the courses easier for you to navigate. Over half term, we will continue to work on how the content in each course is titled to make it even simpler for you to find what you need. Assessment content Test content, including On Your Marks for all GCSE 1st edition and A Level courses, practice assessment questions and Examination-style questions, has moved from Resources into the Assessment module. Any item marked as 'Test' in Assessment can now be assigned to students and results can be tracked in the Markbook. Remember to select any associated audio support files. Audio files We are also addressing the issues with opening audio files and aim to complete this across all GCSE 1st edition and A Level courses over half term. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience that these issues have caused. We will be back in contact after half term to further update you on our progress. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact the Kerboodle helpdesk directly on 01536 452960 or email [ mailto:[email protected] ][email protected]. Sent 5th November We contacted you before half term to update you on our progress as we work to improve the issues surrounding our Modern Languages Kerboodle courses. We are now able to confirm that we have completed the following work: Hotspotting All GCSE 1st edition and A Level digital books are now hotspotted. Hotspots include audios and activities that are referenced in the book. Renaming content In addition to the work we have completed on the course structures, we have now renamed the content in the GCSE 1st edition and A Level courses. This will make it easier for you to find the content that you need. Audio files not opening The error that was preventing audio files from opening has now been fixed. If you continue to experience issues, these may be caused by your local settings. Please contact our Kerboodle helpdesk using the contact details below and our team will be happy to talk you through the correct settings. GCSE 2nd Edition courses We are starting work on the GCSE 2nd edition courses this week. We will first be working on improving the course structures. We will contact the users of these courses shortly to keep you updated on our progress. Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience this term. If you have any further questions, our Kerboodle helpdesk will be happy to help. Call 01536 452960 or email [ mailto:[email protected] ][email protected].

Lamps are swapped when the projector dies depending on age, anything over 5 year old is replaced. We also, listen to feedback from staff and if they complain, we take a look and if the image is exceptionally bad the projector / lamp is replaced. We also audit the projectors a couple of times a year and anything deemed poor is replaced - projector or lamp again.

We've had a number of 'invoices' sent to us over the last few days. Containing a .doc attachment with what I guess a macro.

Isn't the intention to move to a live update scenario where when a new update is released your server will upgrade to the latest version? I think thats what the support guy said to me the last time I needed to speak to them unless i've got my wires crossed and it was anther conversation with another company.
-
Couldn't agree more with the comments above. Like everything with IT theres issues, it's down to the how quick the issues are resolved is what I think makes a good company.
-
Never used SuccessMaker here but have used Lexia fine for 4 or 5 years. Inclusion department seem to think it's wonderful and from an IT viewpoint it was relatively easy setup. We've also managed to get a deal for our primary schools and 5 of our 8 primaries also purchase and use it.

Another vote for Impero, although sadly not free.
-
I thought existing SLG customers were getting it free whether hosted or self hosted, It will be interesting to see what it's going to cost us - although I can appreciate certain costs need to be passed on.
-
We use Sage 200, we aren't a multi academy but it will the job what you need if you setup multiple companies and accounts for each organisation.
-
We are a self hosted SLG school and looking forward to this being released.

Thanks for letting us know Tony. I spoke to Dave on a couple of occasions via telephone but never met him in person - he seemed a great knowledgeable guy.

I've always used Evernote as i've never really looked at OneNote although the number of people recommending it on here makes me think I need to give it a go.
-
If your a Smoothwall school, I am 99% sure theres a mobile client on that that will connect to your Smoothwall proxy on site. Not used it though so can't comment on how good it is.

SIMS Learning Gateway mobile site showing up in IE
Sylv3r replied to pinkerton's topic in MIS Systems
Yeah, we get it very very occasionally with parents. Running via the Compatibility view sorts the problem -
We had the same issue and messing about with the deployment.properties eventually did sort it, although I admit I was on days!

Spam heads-up: Adobe Creative Cloud
Sylv3r replied to howartp's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Yeah, I received one of these today as well. -
It pulls the data from SIMS now automatically as a schedule.
-
We use this: Room Booking System - Online Room Booking Software Not free, but couldn't recommend it highly enough. Integration with SIMS is perfect and saves so much time on administration. All setup linked to our AD, so staff logon using their network details and only have access to the resources allocated to them - flexibility in providing the ability for staff to add, amend, delete their own bookings plus useful for reporting purposes.

I've ran the public beta on my iMac and MacBook air since it was released. No major issues or major changes really.

iRIS Connect - Teacher CPD lesson Ob software
Sylv3r replied to timbo343's topic in Enterprise Software
Yeah if your an existing customer then it's free. @RowlandoGloom i've never noticed the upside issue, doesn't the iPod not just rotate as normal depending on the direction the iPOD is in? -
LA wasn't really what I was expecting and I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. The best view of the hollywood sign your likely to get is from the top floor of the highland centre (it's basically a large shopping / entertainment centre) but too be honest your still miles away so I hope you've got a decent camera. The stars in the pavement is outside the Chinese theatre, pretty much next door to the highland centre. Think about Blackpool with sun and you've got Hollywood!

iRIS Connect - Teacher CPD lesson Ob software
Sylv3r replied to timbo343's topic in Enterprise Software
@timbo343 It only lasts for an hour or so running via the iPOD battery. We generally plug them into the mains (if the classroom allows - although I admit not every room is catered for this here). We've done 3 observations today in 3 different rooms via the Discovery Kit. 9:00 - 10:00, 10:00 - 11:00 and 11:20 - 12:20 with no issues. -
This has been a useful post. I've been seriously considering moving our on premise Sharepoint 2010 box to the Office365 platform, but I think i'll hold off for now.

It won't show SIMS photos, but this works well either via the website or an iPAD app. Socrative
