    SPAM

We are seeing a lot of the common ones here too - invoices, .zip files, word or excel documents with macros etc. We use SmooZap for our SPAM filtering have have the SPAM level pretty high but are still suffering from mail getting through. We are now actively blocking the domain on our Smoothwall box, and sending the e-mail plus headers in a text file to [email protected] which will hopefully start resolving our issues - if other Smoothwall customers who use SmoothZap could follow suit hopefully we will see a reduction in messages through everybody contributing.
  2. I just come across my yellow one today actually.
  3. Hi all I've got a server that doesn't play nicely when SCCM rolls Forefront onto it i.e. 100% CPU usage etc. Is it possible to exclude machines so that SCCM doesn't identify them not having Forefront installed and installing it. It seems near enough as quick as I remove it, it gets reinstalled. Thanks Andrew
  4. We also used to use Mediawiki but over the last couple of months have moved everything over to OneNote. Working really well and able to access it on devices using the OneNote app, web, PC or MAC.
  5. We used it 3 or 4 years ago, take up was minimal by students although it may be because it wasn't pushed by the staff as much as it should. It's a revision tool, rather than something the students would use in lessons at school. I guess you need to judge your own students and whether they would use another tool to boost their exam grades. How you manage the success of such a tool on exam results I am not so sure, but 3 or 4 students moving from a D grade to a C, could work wonders for your school figures especially in English or Maths.

  8. I love my iPhone6 plus now. I used to carry my iPAD mini all over the place to take my notes, diary etc with me but now do everything via the iPhone6 plus.
  9. If your using Promethean boards the same thing happens.
  10. I don't really use either product day-to-day but our exams and data people rave about Sisra. To be honest, I think they work well side by side rather than as a direct replacement for each other. We've given access to Sisra to our Heads of Department and provided training which has taken a lot of work away from the data manager and they have become quite self sufficient.

  12. I think all Catholic Schools should have received the following e-mail today: It has been brought to our attention that a Catholic online website (Bible - Catholic Online) which is used as a resource by some schools, contains links to graphic videos in its ‘popular news’ items. The materials are unsuitable and we would strongly advise are not accessed. We would suggest alerting those as necessary in the school community and preventing access to the site from the school. 13. Excellent, I think I'll get our name down for this. I'll give the support desk a call.
  14. For those schools who have already installed it do you have a preference for a full install or patches? I've upgraded to Autumn 2014 and personally I find installing the patches easier than doing a full install - if CAPITA are releasing a version 2 and patches that would probably be better.
  15. We've got an issue with hiding / unhiding columns in Assessment Manager - this may be one of the other issues. Theres quite a few on the SupportNet forum with the same problem by the looks of it.
  16. What platform are you guys on? We are moving to v2 on Friday which I am told will hopefully resolve the issue with our iPOD touches crashing. I have been told by support that isn't a major issue in a lot of schools.... but some of the posts on here beg to differ.
  17. CAPITA have consultants who will be able to visit and help you with your queries, they may be cheaper alternatives out there of course.
  18. Just to let everyone know, we ran the installer from the root of C:\ rather than the desktop and it wen't through fine just incase that helps anybody out in the future.
  19. I spoke to our normal reseller today and he was going to check for me, the one thing Microsoft don't do that the likes of Apple do is really promote this type of thing. If it had been a feature just added to the next version of IOS we wouldn't have heard the end of it.
  20. Hi We use Airwatch too, when it works it's excellent although the questions you ask we suffer from too. Not sure if it's just an air watch thing or if it happens to all MDM's.
  21. Hi all I had hoped to upgrade to the SIMS Autumn release this weekend and as normal attempted to update our self-hosted SLG site. However, when running the SLG Web Tier application, it gets through the process then errors out. CopyWSPFileScript Error C:\users\admin~1\appdata\local\temp\slgwebpackage\slgwebpackage.wsp: file not found : Microsoft VBScript runtime error It then proceeds to roll back to the previous version. I found an article on the Supportnet site with a similar error that mentions ensuring that theres no windows updates to install and theres not and i've given the server a restart to make sure too. I'll log this with CAPITA, but I just wondered on the off change if anybody else had come across this error before. Thanks Andrew

Was one of the best presents my mam got off me a couple of years back
  23. We have internal Photo consent, but also separate explicit photo consent for out website, school newsletter, Facebook, youtube etc.
  24. We moved across to the ID Store system over half term, and yes we had to register all our biometric details again. The system does seem more responsive and the biometric details appear to be more accurate but that just could be because they are all current. Even though the student fingerprints don't change the older they get, we always found the Year 7 students to be more troublesome then the older students or staff when attempting registration.
  25. We've had exactly the same issue today with our Mac in our office. Reset PRAM and booted into Safe Mode and ran disk check and permissions check and up to now it's sorted it. We got the same error as @Mark182 and we don't even have any printers allocated when running the permissions check.
