  1. Advert up until 31st March or we have applications and recruit suitable candidate. Post vacant due to current employee emigrating in mid-May/June Ideally there will be a significant handover as we have several large projects coming up that the right person will really get involved in! https://www.tes.com/jobs/vacancy/senior-it-and-communications-officer-princes-avenue-kingsbury-london-nw9-9jr-1794858
  2. Just noticed it's also skipping Staff accounts.
  3. Hi all, weird problem between SIMS and trust-e SIMS Extractor v4 When I run it it imports the photos for our Sixth Form students Y13/12 and then says 'Account skipped - ID:1234' etc for all the other students. The Data Manager has looked at the 'NRS Export With Photo v4' report and says it all looks fine. CIVICA are stratching their heads. Any ideas why it refuses to import the photos for Y7-11?
  4. What do you mean by 'the framework'?
  5. We'll be replacing our ageing (2007) network at some point when the stars align and it's a mighty job! Completely removing and installing around 90 managed switches and six core fibre switches. How do you find the companies you ask to tender for a job like this? I know I've asked about suppliers before and it created a really useful thread, what about the big jobs like changing all the wifi/cameras/projectors. Who do you recommend working with?
  6. Can anyone remember my NAS passwords?
  7. I've been speaking to Backblaze about hosting our offsite backup. As a split-site school I have the advantage of two server rooms in two different postcodes and use Veeam to duplicate everything. Unfortunately that doesn't cut it for our insurance so we need a disaster recovery in place to store around 30TB of VMs somewhere that isn't this school. Veeam and Backblaze have said that in order to backup to them we need the SOBR feature (only in Enterprise Plus) which is an extra £4000 a year just in software licensing So, open to suggestions! Has anyone else come to an agreement with another school to backup to each other? Just thinking out loud!
  8. I went with this one found on Google: By accepting this agreement and accessing this wireless network, you acknowledge that you are of legal age, you have read and understood, and agree to be bound by this agreement. (*) The wireless network service is provided by organisation and is completely at their discretion. Your access to the network may be blocked, suspended, or terminated at any time for any reason. (*) You agree not to use the wireless network for any purpose that is unlawful or otherwise prohibited and you are fully responsible for your use. (*) The wireless network is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied.
  9. I'm sure this has come up before, but I've searched and couldn't see one. Does anyone have a template for this? Nothing too wordy, just need some terms and conditions for guest users to agree to? Thanks!
  10. I've clicked on that site and think you might be misunderstanding what I mean! That doesn't even tell you want they supply! Are you just pulling my leg?
  11. Do you just email to [email protected] and go from there? It's not much fun having emails bounce back because companies are obsessed with assigning someone to be the one and only contact. How often are they busy on a call? We're all in the same boat, it's easy to compare hotels and car hire and insurance, why isn't there a product for companies to bid for a contract? Like Fivr but for computer leases!
  12. Like most of you (I think) I'm sick of companies cold calling. I don't have the time or inclination to build a 'relationship' with a salesperson at x supplier. I don't want their emails or calls or junk mail. By the time you need to contact someone they've inevitably moved on to a new company anyway! So, what I want to create is a few simple lists of suppliers that I want to get quotes from and then when I need a new box of magic smoke then I can BCC them all asking for quotes. Time saved. Best price. Has anyone else done something like this? Do you have a set list that you keep updated? I'm only familiar with the companies the old Network Manager worked with, and ones that I have worked with before. Has anyone else contacted suppliers and asked them for a basic 'give me a quote' email address that doesn't require endless requests to 'do lunch' and discuss 'business needs'. Last but not least, who are your outstanding suppliers? I want their quotes!
  13. Our Office 2016 deployment just looks for {90160000-0011-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE} Any reason you have this working with anything more complicated than that?
  14. Nope. Seems to work most of the time, every now and then we can get it to freeze up again on a new page. Problem is that we're getting a lot of complaints from users because when something is happening 1% or 2% of the time it happens a lot over 1,000 computers! At an absolute loss for what to try!
  15. Anyone else seeing problems with printing from Google Chrome? We're on 74.0.3729.131 (Official Build) (64-bit) and getting lots of reports of freezing up and crashing. Intermittent, and immensely annoying! We've spoken to Google but no solution offered yet. Happens on Windows 7 and 10.
  16. Don't visit the Daily Mail? Is anything hitting your firewall?
  17. Did anyone come up with a solution to this? Mine is perhaps slightly different in that the actual Windows clock times seem to be within 1 minute of each other, but the login screen is showing a drift of two or three minutes. It's actually causing problems with students arguing about when they need to leave the library. (I know)
  18. Having problems with deploying this using SCCM. Anyone have any luck? I've tried the silent parameters. And extracting the .msi from the temporary folder but it's not playing nicely.
  19. 'Fixed' = only found *a* fix. The problem still randomly (albeit much more rarely) happens!
  20. Sorry, I missed this. We still have the same issue, it's much rarer now, but still happens. No idea of the cause. Hoping that the move of all machines to Windows 10 will resolve!
  21. Fresh install. Set regional settings to UK with GP. Before a restart it was asking for admin login to access anything like an elevated CMD prompt or installing programs, now it just goes to a blank screen. The only way out is Ctrl-Alt-Del. Anyone seen this behaviour before? Is this maybe a UAC problem, or am I looking in completely the wrong place?
  22. I used psexec to run sfc /scannow and that's fixed it! Thanks for putting my brain into that way of thinking This works! psexec \\COMPUTERNAME -u administrator -p -accepteula sfc /scannow I've now got the logs from two machines so hopefully can identify what is getting corrupted and fixed. But after I get back from holiday *passes job to colleagues* Cheers all.
  23. No luck with that. Even took the card from a machine with a Quadro 600 in it and used the on board with no drivers.
  24. Happening even with computers on Nvidia dedicated graphics. The latest Intel HD drivers are installed (by SCCM) and you can see from the registry that it's correctly installed. We pushed out the latest drivers in the hope that was the problem. Since then plenty of non-Intel computers have developed the same fault! :/
  25. Yeah, I thought that, but it's been tried. See above.
