  1. Good typing practice? A decent typist isn't going to take too long...
  2. Cynic.
  3. Ultimate Boot CD - Overview CPUstress Memtest86+ That'll tell you if there are problems with the CPU or memory overheating or faults.
  4. Mate, feel for you! This is too funny. If I didn't know better I'd think you were a parody tech account set up to amuse me. Hope your life starts to improve imminitely!
  5. Malice is so rare in primaries that the time and work invested in maintaining a 'secure' system generally isn't worth it. I generally explain the different ways things can be done and ask what the school want me to put in place. Secondaries are a very different world!
  6. It would if you found it. Wouldn't worry - most of the time I've found old routers/APs they've just been from a test environment that wasn't properly decommissioned or a member of staff trying to 'help' by bringing in old kit from home!
  7. Or there's no security and the kids have just been clicking on it...
  8. I'd have looked at the SSID it was dishing out and tracked it down (feeling all Columbo!)
  9. Something, somewhere is just running it's own DHCP. Try and track it down it's probably just an AP - are there any odd wireless SSIDs around?
  10. Buy an animal onesie. Sorted.
  11. There's only one bike to own in London. I heart my Brompton.
  12. Scratch has been manually installed across the site and I've been asked to remove it. Running the .msi with /uninstall has no affect. Suggestions for the best bet for removing it cleanly?
  13. Every time it's closed and then opened again? #mysterious
  14. Actually had this once and the customer insisted that the liquid from the Liquid Crystal Display had ruined the keyboard too. His fury was almost convincing but we had great fun proving that you can't get liquid from an LCD! Expensive repair bill for that ID10T
  15. I just it on record that I love teachers. They're the best.
  16. More often than not in primary schools. I agree that the ICT curriculum doesn't go far enough and there's far too much focus on creating PowerPoint presentations but you're definitely trolling. Nobody LIKES Gove.
  17. There's this over in the ads: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/classified-adverts/125558-dell-latitude-st-tablet-ethernet-usb-hdmi-stand.html
  18. SNAP! I found a macbook pro in one of my client schools the other day. Looked like a cupboard of empty boxes but I think everyone had just read the 'DO NOT TOUCH' on the MBP and followed that instruction!
  19. Dean Burnett writing in The Guardian, perhaps dangerously close to the truth? Michael Gove reworks the science curriculum | Dean Burnett | Science | theguardian.com
  20. I love my Tascam DR-05. Recorded some brilliant audio for interviews, at live music gigs and pub open mics. Think they're around £90... the mics are amazing quality for the price and it'll record various formats. Screen is great and it's easy to configure. Audio out goes to my SLR too ADDED: £79.99 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tascam-DR-05-Digital-Recorder-recorder/dp/B004OU2IQG/ref=sr_1_2/280-6514997-4735617?ie=UTF8&qid=1382103125&sr=8-2&keywords=tascam+dr-05 Bargain. (records straight to MP3 on microSD cards)
  21. Oh, hell yes!
  22. I see a lot of different schools - it's representative of some. Bit concerned that it might affect the learning of some students and that it reflects badly on Yorkshire schools. London schools can worlds apart when they're only a few hundred yards apart! It's all down to the staff and headteacher (normally). Anyone want a list of the good ones? I should work undercover for OFSTED
  23. SMART boards usually rely on pressure. A pen is not sensed differently than a finger! Weird.
  24. I want one!
