Do you know if it's possible to install with SCCM/Group Policy? As we don't know where the problem is going to strike next! Or, is there a way to run on a system that's already gone down? #longshot
-
Nothing interesting at all. The system seems to be completely booted. I can VNC to it, access shares, see eventvwr/registry... but nobody can log on, and we haven't found a way to get any back to a logon screen. Everything points to malware, but it's not event spreading in a logical way. All last week we had one computer go down on Thursday, that was it. Today we've already had about five or six.

Nope. Restart doesn't fix and we don't have Impero.

Absolutely at a loss where to go next with this. Over the last two months computers on our network have been booting to a black screen and cursor. Unable to do anything from there. The one key combination that does do something is Windows - P, but all the options give the same screen. Black screen, white cursor. We've tried adding a second monitor, nothing. Safe Mode is the same, as is taking out of AD The computers can have been recently reimaged, or in service for years without issue. It's affected every type of hardware that we have, from the new i5/SSD desktops, to older laptops. There's no logical pattern. We've not worked out a way to bring a machine back online once it's died. We do have access to admin C$ share, as well as connecting remotely to eventvwr/registry... so Windows seems to boot, but gets stuck somewhere! Shell - Explorer is present in the registry. Latest graphics drivers deployed for the newer machines (but like I said, it's not hardware specific) Virus scans are done daily on all, nothing detected. Definitions are up to date. Anyone seen this before? So far it's affected around 50/850. Some immediately after reimaging, some after years without issue.

Nice one, cheers. Wasn't aware of this. -
Nice one. You win the internet for today.

Perfect. Thank you. One of our ICT teachers spoke to stoneware and they gave incorrect information that this feature might be available in future versions and we should revert to 7.7! I thought I was really in for it!

After 'upgrading' from 7.7 we've found that the mouse cursor is no longer visible from the teacher's station. This is really important to our ICT staff, anyone know how we can add this functionality back *crosses fingers for a simple registry entry*

Upgrade from v7.7 with teacher's stations as the server to v8.0 with a new LCS. LCS sees the teacher and student computers - channels and LCS settings deployed with ADMs After a couple of restarts all computers in the rooms are connected but a lot are losing connection and entering standby mode, this is happening at random. For example a teacher can be viewing and remote controlling a student without any problems and then the console will report that the student has gone into standby mode when they clearly haven't! Any ideas? The old 7.7 worked flawlessly, now my ticketing system is filling up with reports of LanSchool problems :/

Yeah, there are three APs that support 50 clients each. There aren't faults with them, but real world is much more flaky than it should be. Blame big machines/wireless hotspots/kids moving around/turning off wifi etc (a spectrum analyser would go crazy in any CDT department!) We're due to upgrade at Easter but the staff have just lost faith in it, and there isn't a fix we can apply as it's all up and running. Yes, firmware/drivers are as up to date as they can be. APs are end of life.

Thanks! What are these called? Manufacturer?

The tech department would like to use laptops on wired connections. How do you solve the problem of needing to use the work desks for cutting/drilling, and computers? Suspended from the ceiling? Popping up from the middle? Something else?
