a 7-8yr old 1.4ghz amd athlon struggled to play back a 1080p video for me a few weeks ago so i'd dread to think how long it would take to process a HD video on your netbook.

The most likely thing would be that the SATA drivers aren't included in the boot.wim. the Windows automated installation kit (WAIK) should allow you to integrate the drivers into the image. I think server 2008 r2 has the option to integrate drivers in the WDS console but i'm not 100% sure on that. the other option could be hardware failure but as you say it's happened on multiple machines, I'd say that it would be a driver issue. Another thing to check is the ACHI settings in the bios of the client computers. EDIT 2 - I don't know if you have seen this but it may help Edit 3 - do the machines have recovery partitions (the dells should)? if they do this could be the issue. try modifying the boot.ini to point to the correct partitions/paths

I've successfully created an SP3 cd from a WinXP SP2 cd using nlite and the offline/network installer of SP3 which can be found on the MS download site here

You can run the (report) scripts manually by just issuing "/usr/bin/sarg-reports daily", "/usr/bin/sarg-reports weekly" or "/usr/bin/sarg-reports monthly" at the command prompt and without the quotes. As far as i know SWE doesn't have any mods for realtime log viewers (apart from the IM logger). I can't remember (for sure) if the commercial smoothie has a realtime log viewer or not (but i do vaguely remember me using a realtime log viewer in the commercial smoothie)

You can SSH into the smoothie and grab the squid.log from /var/log/squid/access.log or you could install something like the sarg mod and generate the reports that way.

you can download them directly onto the touch by using the inbuilt App store app as well as downloading apps via itunes on a computer.

Some installers have the option of extracting the contents to a folder by using setup.exe /a or setup.exe /e (may be different switches depending on the program) when run from the command line. Also have you tried saving the driver by using one of the various programs that allow you to save drivers?

Have you tried the windows inbuilt bluetooth stack?

also don't forget that the free versions of security software are usually meant for personal home use, not for use in businesses/schools etc.

add the 'sudo' command at the terminal. to enable the root account: 'sudo passwd root' and enter a new password (after typing your current password to allow privilege escalation)

and (from experience) they break more things with every release. I'd recommend either debian (ubuntu is based on debian) or fedora.

Nope. Its not recommeded to have more than 1 AV program installed as it will most likely reduce the performance of the machine and cause conflicts between the 2 AV systems
