it was buried within the CPU configuration menu (secure virtual machine mode) on my desktop's asus motherboard.

Have you tried creating a new build disk with the legacy option?
-
have you tried running the patch for server 03 on one desktop to see if it works? are you able to download a fresh copy of the files from the publishers website?

for those of you having trouble extracting the files.... http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/44072-win7-academic-offer-download-problem.html

its a known problem and i think it was something to do with digital river (the distribution partner for MS). Microsoft Acknowledges Problems With Windows 7 Student Edition Upgrades - windows 7 - Gizmodo Windows Vista Home Pre 32bit to Windows 7 downloaded 64bit

turning off the address bar in explorer would be one way to limit the kids from finding the server names out. i know this won't help in this particular case, but its worth bearing in mind.

it was stripped from vista as well. XP/2k3 were the last editions to have net send i think

mainly electronica/trance for me. most of the trance from the 90s/early 00s seems to be miles better than a lot of the stuff today which all sounds the same to me.

How to get linux virtual machines working in Windows 7
computer_expert replied to pod's topic in *nix
to be honest, you'd be better off with virtualbox/vmware server instead of virtual pc if you are going to use Linux VMs. however, thanks for the tips -
have you tried restarting mysql/or the computer hosting fog?
-
yep, i know, but i would like this one to last until i can get a new one

Hi everyone, i have a machine at home in which the CPU fan is making a racket. i think it may be the bearings causing the noise so i googled it and it was suggested to oil the fan's bearings. i was going to use WD40, but it's not recommended and i was wondering what type of oil would be the best to use? I know i could easily replace the fan, but i'd like to try and keep the current one going until i can get a new fan within the next few weeks. Thanks in advance! c_e

Windows Vista Business on Windows 2003 Server
computer_expert replied to DaveMurphy's topic in Windows
have you tried putting in the IP of the server into the domain box? also try typing the domain name in both following formats : domain.com domain if that doesn't work, try crating a temp account with permissions to join machines to the domain -
yep, thats pretty much the process. on a windows dhcp server, you set option 66 to the ip of the fog server and dhcp option 67 to the filename of the file (pxelinux.0) that brings up the fog pxe menu where you can image machines. hope this helps c_e

this page has something about the parameters needed for an unattended clone. even though it says PXE on the page, i'm sure you should be able to use those parameters on a USB drive

Webfilter for home

+1 for K9. i know you said windows only, but smoothwall express 3 and the dansguardian mod is another option but it requires another computer to install it on. -
Smoothwall - Hotmail attachments

on smoothwall express 3 (with the dansguardian mod installed), its in /etc/dansgaurdian/[profile you use, eg adult]/bannedextentionlist. in schoolguardian, i'd imagine that its on one of the filtering pages but i don't have a schoolguardian box to check it on edit - this should help you find the page you are looking for on SG. -

possibly check the bannedextention list/page to see if said attachments are in the list to be blocked? -
Thousands of Hotmail passwords leaked online!
computer_expert replied to Zoom7000's topic in General Chat
you do have an option to force you to change your password every 70 days or so. it's on the page where you change your password -
i'd imagine that it's my dodgy scripting skills preventing it from working, but i'll keep messing around with it until i get it working properly.

Thanks again for posting the links that program It now works fine, but the only thing i can't get synctoy to do is to sync the folders automatically & silently. however, i can live with the synctoy gui popping up every time i plug my flash drive in.
-
thanks for that! i'll give it a go and see what happens. after a quick flick through the webpage, i thought this was quite funny:

This is really annoying me now as i cannot get it to work. all i want to do is make synctoy run when i plug my flash drive into my computer, but it will just not do it I have tried the autorun.inf method and the Autoplay option (after adding an autoplay handler via tweakui) and it will just not work at all. i have created a batch script pointing towards the synctoy.exe file (and synctoycmd.exe with the -R switch) and put it in the root of the memory stick and set the autorun.inf to launch the batch script which then should of launched synctoy. i get as far as the cmd window flashing up and closing, but it doesn't launch synctoy.exe (or synctoycmd.exe either). i'm running XP Pro and synctoy 2.0. Thanks in advance.
