For the record, we have two schools running Windows Server 2012 and SOLUS3. No issues experienced at all.

Go NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Install Windows Server 2012, attach SIMS and FMS to a SQL2012 instance and then attach SOLUS3 and Discover to a SQL2008R2 instance!!!! Confused much?

I thought SOLUS3 was supported on Windows Server 2012, but not Microsoft SQL Server 2012? Or are you on about SQL 2012?

When I got married, my best man who is a natural comedian said he came so close to doing something quality during the speech but decided the day before not to. He told me all about it a few weeks later. To do this, you need to have willing guests, and the grooms mother-in-law to be needs to have a good sense of humour! Here's what he planned on doing: 1. Get hold of a load of keys 2. Give a key to any of the male guests you can 3. Give one key to the brides mother 4. During the best man speech, comment on how lovely the bride is, also state that she is now off the market and previous 'love interests' should return the keys to her house 5. All the male guests come to the front and hand in the keys 6. Comment on how the same goes for the groom and that previous 'love interests' hand back keys to his house 7. Queue the only woman - the mother-in-law to be - standing up to hand in her key. It could also work well with an 'older' guest who's up for a laugh.

I love the Humble Bundles. Got a few backlogged to play too. Dear Esther has always intrigued me though when I've seen it on Steam and lots of people seem to rave about it. Anyone played?

Worrying if a stored procedure is missing. Maybe run dbUpgrade and point it to the FMS setups folder to check that the FMS database has not somehow missed a database upgrade file.

We did release an infrastructure update a while back (2 years?), so just looked in School Manager and the latest one listed is the 'Summer 2011 Infrastructure Package', no newer one available for us. Think I'll e-mail Capita. In your LA schools manager, what's the latest infrastructure version you have?

When I was a kid, I used to watch the re-runs of Doctor Who with John Pertwee as the Doctor. He's my favourite "vintage" Doctor. I like McCoy in the Big Finish radio shows. Even Paul McGann was good in them too.

Technically if your getting updates though SOLUS2, then it should check the signature files for all the applicable exe's and update all of them to the latest version. You should not really ever have an out of date setups folder as if SOLUS2 can;t update a specific file, it will throw out an error and roll back. You may find a few "old files" like the SQL2005 installer, migration tools etc, that are no longer used but the key installers for all SIMS components should be up to date, otherwise SOLUS2 would give you an error message when downloading/applying a upgrade and restore the previous files. And if you use SOLUS3 fully, than the setups folder is technically "obsolete" anyway. Sometimes, I will download and install the Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 installer and install it ahead of a migration but in most instances, I jsut use the existing setuips folder and have never had an issue doing it this way. Just a shame that the Capita installer only Has SQL2008 and not SQL2008R2. Funny, I'm doing a SIMS server move at the moment!

@vikpaw is not quite right. Running SIMSInst.exe will give you the option to install a SQL Express instance as well if you choose the "This computer will be used as a SIMS Server". It also gives you the option to create a new database, attach an existing database, or do nothing (which will allow you to manually attach your database at a later time). Once SQL is installed, it also installs the SIMS SQL tools such as dbAttach and the Discover backup utility.

Downloaded the update last night ready for a crack on it tonight. It's been a while since I played, my main was a Tactical Star Fleet Captain and went down the Escort class which I found to be seriously devastating in battle if played right. Current ship is actually Defiant class. Think though I'll need to roll a new alt to get back to grips with it as I can imagine it's changed a fair amount. Think my in-game name is Rawns (Maybe Rawnz?) so add me if you like.

Is this something a Minecraft n00b can jump right into? Did some Googeling on it and it looks pretty cool. However I have never played Minecraft.

Maybe worth getting a continual ping to google.com on the go to monitor any packet loss. leave it for a few hours then stop it and check the results.

Where are you based? My friend in Bristol is on VM and suffers awfully with lag spikes, dropped packets, high pings etc. He said it's been like it ever since VM doubled everyone's net speeds. He's a network engineer too so knows a bit about trouble shooting but VM seem to be claiming that there is no issue even though a vast amount of VM customers in the Bristol area have the same issues. I think there is even a Facebook group for disgruntled VM customers in Bristol! On example is DayZ. It takes him multiple attempts to get connected and stay connected to a server as the BattleEye file verification check fails at different times due to lost packets so he gets kicked due to signature check errors. if he times it right, it checks all files successfully and stays connected.

Would be interested to know what the outcome was regarding @adamf's post?

This is crazy!!! The fact that they ask you to provide a downgraded version for SQL 2008 R2 shows they lack major knowledge in the product they "support" as you cannot downgrade a database! As in my previous post, go back to them saying Capita OFFICIALLY support SIMS on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 now and therefore they should have a suitable test environment for when customers raise case logs and send their data in for investigation. Also point them to their own technical roadmap and then e-mail Jon Wood directly to complain! Might also be making @PhilNeal aware of this to see if he can offer any ideas as to why this is seems to keep happening?

I think the pilots can open it from the cockpit to allow greater air circulation around the hidden engine components.

Never mind, I;ve sorted it. I stopped the Deployment service for 30 minutes and restarted it and it seems to be doing stuff now. Odd though because I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the deployment service due to a .net error so though this would have cleared any ongoing deployments. Apparently not...

Does anyone know how to flag a deployment with a status of 'Rollback in progress' as failed in the database? Hoping for a quick solution then another call with Capita.
