Mcafee's EPO offering is terrible - for SMB's the SAAS offering (McAfeeASAP) seems to work fairly well and is all cloud managed. I PM'd the cost of Avast to Ed which was 4.5k for 3 years for 900 devices - just shows Avast is fairly good and cheap plus very easy to manage.

Avast network edition is rather different to the free home product. The management console is easy to use and tends to "just work". I'll pm you the rough cost of what I paid for it.

Personaally I don't like sophos - have just removed ESEt from a client and as we are a mcrappy partner sold them the SaaS offering which at desktop level is ok as long as you don't install firewall or Browser services! I purchased Avast for my last school about a year ago which was really good and half the price of the others.

As long as the PDC has the correct time it should be authoritve over the secondary DC - which means the second DC should sync from the PDC. Just make sure when using the Pools that you can actually get out on the correct ports as all well and good pointing servers to the pools but if they cannot contact they will just fail but not tell you

You will need to setup the PDC to get its time from an external time source - normally RBC's provide time servers and things like time.windows.com are blocked. You will need to run something like "w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:”time.windows.com” /syncfromflags:manual /reliable:yes /update" replacing time.windows.com with your time server whether it be the RBC's or use ntp.org's (as i do on all my clients). 0.pool.ntp.org you will then need to run "net stop w32tm" and net start "W32tm" EDIT: if your servers are virtual make sure your host gets its time from the external source as well otherwise the host and DC get the time from each other causing issues

Yup open up your SQL DB find the table MDL_users search for the users which have different account names and just change it in there (plain text). And then when they try to login is will be the same as the ID (separate field) is the same. I did it using some excel magic for 1700 users when moving the install from LEA to our control.

I would look towards something like VMware View - Xen Desktop etc. VMware view manages all the Sysprep information and you can create extra machines on the fly. You create a "gold Image" and then take a snapshot. This snapshot is then used to create "linked clones" which are essentially a seperate PC. When rolling out a new piece of software. Install on the gold image create a snapshot and then resetup your pool. Users wouldn't notice a thing and updates are applied etc etc. All handled via the VMware View Agent. You can load balance this across multiple hosts and the new features in VMware mean you can essentially run everything using High Availability tricks such as VMotion without the need for a SAN (From version 5.1 which is released in a couple of weeks). VMware view is brilliant and I'm currently working on 4 separate projects using it and I love it!

Which mode did you set the Teamed nic's? Did you setup a trunk on the switch?

I think the only way you will do that is having to do the stuff on the Ipad screen itself.

My one had a faulty management module flash card - although I couldn't make any configuration changes the switch carried on switching/routing for all the vlans. I also had an SFP module fail which didn't crash the switch. Apart from the obvious of not switching to the areas connected to the module.

Yeah I saw that but not 100% sure it does what I am trying to achieve. We want to be able to put a full HTML wrap around an email text adding an image to the top and then stamping the disclaimer at the bottom. If you see the example above - not just the text to the bottom.

I've spent ages myself doing that. But a mobile phone camera is really useful when trying to work it out.
