Hi All, I am considering moving our school away from ESET to Trend Micro Worry Free Advanced. Is anyone using Trend? For email security too? We were originally looking at email security and removal of phishing emails. But this has now progressed onto looking at anti virus as the Trend product is a bundle. Interested in experiences of the products and support to help me make my decision. For info, if we stay with Eset we will likely use Barracuda for email security and phishing protection. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have found out the hard way and wanted to share this information to see if this might help anyone else. During the summer we got onboard with Senso, coming from Impero. Software does seem like it worked well and so we pushed the client out to all devices. During the same summer we also upgraded to ESET Protect, which is also fully cloud. Not long after doing this and all staff returning we have discovered that the devices which both software were installed on started to Bluescreen randomly. And by randomly i mean literally no correlation with anything the staff members are doing. After many attempts to fully update, reinstall driver packages and resetting the devices the bluescreening would always come back straight away. After extracting the crash logs it looks like it came back to a possible issue with NETIO related to the ESET client. I then contacted ESET support to see if we could get this resolved. ESET then responded with the following "Do you run Senso in your environment? This is a known issue causing BSOD with ESET currently and we are still investigating and working with Senso Support to identify the issue and provide a workaround/solution." upon finding this out we liaised further with Senso and ESET to come to the following workaround; Disable the WFP Driver within Senso - This will resolve the issues at the expense of the following features; Dedicated Teacher Machine - https://support.senso.cloud/support/solutions/articles/79000116254-dedicated-teacher-pc Broadcast Screen – The options to select their own screen as “my computer” , you can add the teachers device to the group which will allow you to select the teachers device to be broadcasted. Website logs and control – We will not be able to record any visited URL’s nor we will we be able to control website access with block web etc. Application Control – Application logs will in fact still collect, however you will not be able to apply restrictions around what users can access Any element of Senso that will require packet \ IP level inspection will fail as this is what the WFP driver is used for, this is a complete list of functions you would lose when disabled. Upon applying this to a staff senso group, this was automatically disabled by senso and the devices have now seemingly cleared up, I'm only a few days in but will update if this is still an issue. This is the script they inputted into senso as a batch file under policies; $BlankFile = "c:\program files\renato\senso.cloud\disablefilter"$FileExists = Test-Path $BlankFileif($FileExists -eq $True){Return}else {New-Item -path "C:\program files\renato\senso.cloud" -Name "disablefilter" -itemtype file}Start-Sleep -s 10Restart-Service "senso.cloud.service" Hope this helps anyone out who may be in the same situation - Senso support can do all of this for you if you need help. At the time of me writing this there is still no fix and they seem to be pointing fingers at each other being the issue. Our hardware was Surface pro 7,8,9 Running windows 10 and 11 fully updated. Cheers, Quinn

I've been forced by Eset to migrate the virtual appliance (centos). This is something in years of ownership I've not been required to do before.. The push to the cloud solution is pervasive, the nomenclature is misleading. it took 3 attempts at reading guides, not understanding the nomenclature to find out what was required or the problem was. I now know that the upgrade involves me creating a new virtual machine, the instructions are spartan and not thorough. They tell me to make a new machine and spec the gen and ram but they don’t tell you to use the provided VHDX… I guess obvious but these are instructions not vague guides. Their support said they expected users to be familiar with hyperV! I thought I was going crazy, missing a step! Got a new problem, can’t log in to new VM, can’t find the answer, ask again tech support… article, great… Article says what the issue is and how to fix, type in the instruction “blah blah blah”…. Where? How? Again No Details…just assumptions. Terminal on the VM, nope, no option, SSH.. maybe but won’t accept credentials… reset credentials.. complexity not met?!?!! (fine) too short 18 or more chars….FFFS.. fine.. (existing creds just created 30 minutes ago didn’t meet these either but FML I guess.) Finally login as Admin… you need to be root to make these changes…… buttt clench. Root access denied.. access denied…. FFS.. more reading “root can’t use SSH” FFSS SFGSFS. This is why FULL instructions are needed! I hate ESET! I’m not renewing, this blows.

We have recently introduced and rolled out ESET AV into our environment and since we've installed on Devices, users have been experiencing slowness when browsing and accessing sites. We have identified that this is a conflict between ESET and Senso as uninstalling either resolves the issues, we initially thought this was due both having SSL Filtering and they were conflicting that way but even after disabling SSL/TLS protection within ESET we are still being presented with the issue. Has anyone had similar problems or have any ideas?

OK, I've got to create a new virtual appliance for ESET as centos is no longer supported. The upgrade involves making a new virtual machine, this is provided in the form of a vhdx file from ESET. The ESET instructions assume a working knowledge of HyperV The gist is to create a gen1 virtual machine and point to the downloaded VHDX provided. I'll assume if I did this it'd be running from my downloads folder not the SAN. Do I have to create the new VM from the cluster manager (not hyperv manager) but I don't know how to access the SAN storage correctly.. I do see "cluster storage" folder in the c drive of the hyper v hosts, this seems to have all the virtual server drives in it. (I assume this is a shortcut or pointing folder) can I just pop the VHDX in here? cheers! I've moved from Vmware to HyperV thanks to Broadcom:(

Hi Guys (and Gals!), I've seen in my travels loads of businesses and schools using Sophos and I have always wondered one simple thing - why ? I'm not saying it's bad or anything as my curiosity is a result of my lack of exposure to actually using/managing the product as the few times I have come across personally was when it's has caused a problem with something else and we'd been called int to look at the situation (e.g. multiseat / server application solution stopped working all of a sudden etc). Is it a pricing / features / management thing that drives people to choose Sophos over other products on the market ? We have been a ESET partner for a number of years and I've always been rebuffed/met opposition when suggesting people take a look at it, our VAR arm has about 30 small businesses on SLA's who all use ESET (either NOD32 AV or Smart Security) and I can't remember the last time they reported an issue with the AV (last time was a issue with SBS) or a breach and I've definitiely not heard of or seen it attacking itself ! (*cough*sophos*cough*) I'd love to hear some feedback from people on the above and not only on Sophos / ESET but what else you guys are using to plug the holes !
