  1. It looks to be manufactured by FIC http://www.fic.com.tw/product/umpc.aspx if you google a bit for Everex Cloud Book, Packard Bell Easynote XS20 there are reviews apparently it was targeted to compete at the same price as the EePC when run with its gOS http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/01/10/ces_everex_battles_eee_pc/
  2. I think the cost may be prohibative on this unit if people are directly comparing it to the EePC, it is already available from a number of OEMs as well here is an example http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133791
  3. Get the N95 8GB if you can, think of it as the N95-1 with the kinks worked out (although the N95-1 has closed the gap a little with the latest v20 firmware as previouly mentioned).
  4. Looking at it from the back at the base there should be 3x screws top left, top right and top center (of the base). If you remove either the top left or top right hand screws you should be able to slide the black covers off.

    xp activation

Pretty much yes, a PSU change on its own cannot trigger the need for a reactivation. However if the faulty or new psu affected some of the other components in some way it may cause this behavior.
  6. I see this board has one IDE port driven by the chipset and the other one is driven by an additional controller, alot of the time in the BIOS you will only be able to see drives connected to the onboard IDE connector while anything connected to the addon IDE controller will be displayed during post on its own rom display screen. Its probably best to have your hard drive on the native IDE connector ATA100 and your optical drive as well and once you have installed windows and all the drivers move the optical over to the ITE addon port.
  7. What model is the mainboard? Have you just changed the board out with a similar specification? If not you will probably have to repair windows.
  8. No problem, the boards will normally ship from the factory with GUIDs but if Elonex flashed them during manuafcture they may have cleared the DMI data and not generated new GUIDs
  9. This should be what your after, usage DMI_2043.exe /u to generate a random GUID. DMI_2043.EXE
  10. As already mentioned your looking at a workstation board £200-£300, Intel have launched a platform called V8 which is a workstation board 2x socket 771 quad core CPUs but you would require FB Dimm memory for this.
  11. Is it still under a three year warranty? Depending on how you feel about it most monitor service providers just do a swap out so after that if they are not happy there is little they can do.
  12. 945GC based MicroATX 1-2GB Ram Pentium E2140/2160/2180 or Core 2 Duo E4500
  13. Too right I never remove mine from my phone for fear of loosing t.
  14. Just some follow up info from the Inq LCD sizes controlled by flat glass vendors
  15. what was the stop error number on the BSOD? Which Sata port do you have the HDD on? Which BIOS version is do you have on it v1.30 can be problematic try upgrading to v1.60 (or v1.7B4 if your feeling brave).
  16. Thats just the PHY, the LAN controller will be part of the chipset. What chipset are the mainboards using? Nvidia?
  17. Which HAL is it using?
  18. Its more like 8800GT 256MB 8800GT 512MB < This would be my pick 8800GTS 640MB < this is the old model, its out performed by the above card so I wouldnt bother with this one 8800GTS 512MB < not out until the 11th I believe and no solid price info All of the 8800GT cards are PCI Express 2.0 as well as the new 8800GTS 512MB.
  19. 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.1 but not 1.0a (apparently some manufacturers are offering a VGA card BIOS to take the card to 1.1 giving compatability with 1.0a slots) Its been shown that there is no real performance decrease using the current 2.0 cards in 1.1 slots. Although future cards may benefit from the extra bandwidth.
  20. P35 + 4GB Ram + 8800GT 512MB + Q6600 or E6750 Intel chipsets generally tend to be the most stable (although I have had some really great nForce boards) the only department Intel tend to lack in would be thier integrated graphics. While the 650i/680i tend to be good also there are question marks over the compatibility with future quad core chips. If this does not bother you then these are also a good option. Regards
  21. tomscraper is IM+ better than windows live messegner? Might have to check it out I used to use Agile messenger before windows live messenger.
  22. Or bootbale flash pen drive? Stick dmi_2043.exe on it and run it with /u job done.
  23. I would put the latest BIOS & Intel VGA drivers on one and see if that helps.
  24. And which mainboard model or chipset is it?
  25. Which board model is it? What monitors are they? it sounds like the software is trying to run the monitors at a resolution/refresh they can't do.
