When you have computers that are saying stopped do you also have other machines connected and working? What OS is on the Geovision box? Do you know what model Geovision card is being used? If you use the deicated client software on those machines can you get a connection?

Sounds about right to me

Yes I would go with this and the other comments of this nature, the name of the game in PC World is 'Cherry Picking'. A friend of mine was after a large monitor and PC world appeared to have a good enough price and he wanted it that weekend, we trotted off down there and they had nothing on display bigger than 19" Asked one chap that hasstled us as we walked in but he went off to find somebody else then we were greeted by a fairly old chap (not saying there is anything wrong with that) he dissappeared for 10 minutes and re appeared with the monitor and explained 'this is the last one' & 'had a run on these we sold one yesterday as well'. LOL no wonder they were selling so WELL they didnt even have any on display and there was me thinking they were all about the up sell !

What model is the mainboard, also what CPU and Ram are you using? Don't suppose you have a post probe It is true that Foxconn arent the best as they are still finding thier feet designing boards themselves, they do have a deffinate cost advantage as they also manufacture alot of the actual components that go on boards and their main business is contract manufacturing for tier one brands.

Must you use HDMI, I'm sure if you used component and stereo audio over cat 5 it would work out a lot cheaper?

This is incorrect, here is an answer from an MS system builder Q&A Downgrade rights are not restricted to volume licence users for XP Pro Vista Ultimate/Business.
-
Microsoft makes it hard to downgrade Vista to XP Pro You need to use an XP pro oem product key (if you are installing from oem installation media) and MS activation line as supposed to provide this.

Are you loading windows from the network or from a cd, when you say you dont have access to the drives are they all visable in windows?
-
Not sure why companies go for the hard sell like this and risk alienating thier potential customers?

Anything like ours here SCL AIO These are a pretty good mid range solution as far as small form factor / all in one are involved as you have been told they take a standard micro atx mainboard, cpu, memory, hdd and optical drive so dont have the draw backs of being completetly proprietary i.e standard desktop parts can be swapped in and out with little hasstle.

Sorry my bad, prescott is the code name for a core used in older pentium 4 and celeron cpus, the Pentium 4 and Celeron cpus available new are Cedar Mill core and will most likley not work in these boards (hence your supplier wanting to offload them) Best thing to do is get the exact model numbers of the boards and then gotp http://www.foxconnchannel.com and check the cpu support tables for the boards. If you were thinking about picking up cpus from the likes of ebay there are plenty of older models on there that should fit into these boards.

Was it an all in one system?

Mikesoft is this them? I cant see that spec on there though?

Well the 648 boards sound like they will be based on the SIS 648 chipset which does not have onboard graphics, I notice three models on foxconn's website Here here and here By the looks of it these boards will accept a prescott core at the most. There are many 661 sis based boards by the looks of it from foxconn I think you are best off getting the model numbers for these. I would guess these will also only take prescott cores if they are going spare. Did you want to use these as spares for older machines or were you looking to get some cpus as well?

Lol, well when I finally got the upgrade I cant remeber if I even got round to installing it, just thought might as well get it since It was a free upgrade. I think SBS is a little under rated sometimes I know plenty of small businesses that are hobbling along with weird P2P networks that are mish mashed together and think to myself they could really imporve thier productivity with a proper network.

Quoted for the truth! How long did it take to get yours? Think mine took 4 months in the end and that was only after I was emailing them everyday (not sure they would have bothered otherwise)

Panorama's "Wireless in schools" Program 8:30 Tonight
PeterW replied to pete's topic in Wireless Networks
Only caught the first ten minutes as I had to put the little one to bed, is it me or were all the scientific studies very general? Along the lines of "Professor X has been examining the effects of wireless radio waves which are similar to wifi and he says its all bad!" "Turn all wifi off in schools tomorrow" Did anybody on here actually change thier view of wifi health implications by watching this or did you think it was blown out of proportion? Please excuse me while I rush and turn my phone bluetooth off and unplug my dect phone -
Passmark BurnInTest Passmark Software is pretty good we use it alot here. Think there is a trial version you can download you will need to re start the tests every 15 mins though on the trial version

Most people seem to be going for Athlon x2 3800 or Pentium E 2160 with 1GB of ram. Still get a few people go for entry level semprons or Celerons with 512MB ram. Hopefully the celeron buyers should get a nice boost next month when the 400 series is released, I fully expect the 1.6Ghz 420 model to give a P4 3.0Ghz a good kicking Also with the way memory prices are at the moment there really wont be any excuse for not buying 1GB

Looks to be a =Twinhead model maybe worth dropping them an email to see if they can advise where to get replacement parts. Or maybe have a look on ebay with that model number?
-
Sometimes its best to know who makes the actual notebook chassis, is there any kind of model number on the bottom of it?

Most DVD recorders will have a DV input so no loss of quality, that will also give you DV deck control over the camera so select source DV and just hit Record These cost about £80.00 max
