Well done once again - sorry, on a side note, what professional qualifications do you have? If you don't mind me asking. Cheers Oh, good luck for Monday's start!
-
Well done mate!
-
Shouldn't be, we're running Roaming profiles.
-
Do ensure you're not running IE7 on the affected machines. This was my problem on our new image. Resorted back to IE6 and all worked again!
-
Why not create your exam accounts, upon creation stick them in a security group, and then run a start-up script on all machines to add the security group into the permissions on the required folder.
-
Any luck? I have installed the SSL Certificate - however I get that the secured page contains secure and non-secure items! Not ideal!
-
Not ideal, but I’ve used the Web Page Web Part Viewer and then pointed that to our ePortal address.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7063716.stm - when reading the article, I was thinking... how many schools are actually using 'Open Source' such as 'Open Office' for example. Personally I would go for it, think of the savings in licensing costs? How many of you would go for it? We are running Office 2003 simply because that's what everyone is used to - but 'Open Office' isn't that different! Let me know your thoughts. Worryingly, it's a Friday night, 12:30am, I'm under the influence of alcohol and I'm still thinking about work!!

mandatory/roaming with folder redirection here... EDIT: my previous school used local profiles with folder redirection...

Ok, now i'm stuck! I have manually created the database, in SQL. I have put the information in, I.E. user, database name and so forth... Anybody aware of what I need to put in the database path when linking to an SQL database? Cheers! -

Real quick question, I am staying along the A14 at Kettering, to be precise: Kettering Thrapston. How long will it take me to get to the conference in the morning? I don't want to leave too early and arrive too early, or vice versa! -

Devizes School Online Booking System
plock replied to plock's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Ok, I've setup the booking system with a clean install, now it comes to the database bit! I'm going to manually create the SQL database completly copying all tables and stuctures from the Access Database. Has anyone got any templates on their setup in the DatabasePath.asp when linking to the SQL database? Cheers -
We have typing any address in the address bar disabled, this is achieved via GPO.

Me too! @imullings - I'm planning on starting with a fresh SQL Database and so forth. Could you provide any documentation/quick guides to get this setup and functioning? Cheers -
My setup is pretty much the same, we GPO as much software as possible so we can have a 'standard' image as much as possible. By this I mean any specialist software will be deployed via GPO so we can administer what machines have that software. Our 'standard' image therefore has the software which we would like across the whole site. We are lucky to have the same computers throughout the site, or slight variations so it works well. One of the perks to being in a brand new Academy! hehe We have slightly different images for our ‘media’ machines; these have slightly different hardware which means the image has to include the specific drivers. We run three or four different images throughout the whole site. Very nice to administer!
-
You would setup roaming profiles in AD and so forth, then using GPO redirect the 'Desktop' to a shared folder, and restrict permissions to change anything, using NTFS permissions.
-
I hate to say it, but it could possibly be the students changing the time? Have you restricted this using the Mac OS X Server? Sadly I can't give you a complete guide to doing this, this was implemented before me, but I have done little bits and pieces on it.
-
@mattx My setup is very similar! Does anyone actually store the images locally? Storing the images on a server using Ghost 8, RIS and so forth... is the way to go!
-
I don't see why you have to worry - it's not difficult to take an image just before you run ‘sysprep’... then ‘sysprep’ the machine... then take another image? Surely this is common practise?

Umm... don't suppose you've made any special amendments to the coding? What platform are you running it on? IIS? Cheers -
Profiles I have found for one!

I would love to have done this too! Would be so beneficial! However, the head of the department where they are based is a 'control freak'! You're probably aware of this, but just making sure, with regards to authentication not taking place. Do ensure that the system time on the Mac's is exactly the same as the OS X Server and Windows Domain Controllers. Otherwise authentication fails; a security feature part of Mac OS X I believe. You'd be surprised how long it took me to work out why every now and then a Mac or two would stop authenticating! Good luck!
