Yup, couldn't open the car doors this morning for fear of pulling off the door handles. Then had to scrape both the inside and outside of the windows for about 20 minutes. Good job they went gritting last night the roads were surprisingly clear. Matt

It is off the drawing board, we've had all students setup for accounts since early last year. Distributed logons to kids from september it works alright, kids just use it in lessons like it is MSN. Matt

I'd use ADModify.net or wisesoft's bulk modify, both nice gui way's to do it. Matt

If you power cycle a P2015 and hold down the "Go" button for 10 seconds it will reset to factory settings. Maybe one of the kids has found this out? Matt

My joomla site 1.5 has been done over as well!
saundersmatt replied to reggiep's topic in EduGeek Joomla 1.5 Package
Or so you would hope. But i did that this morning after seeing the "my site has been hacked" threads and panicing slightly. Did a backup of current site and ran the upgrade patch. Which failed spectacularly. Tried recovering to the backup, also didn't work (due to me being a complete idiot with the ftp client). So i've spent all day reinstalling joomla, themes and components. Oh well, needed to bugfix a few bits anyway so got that done at the same time. Matt -
We're suffering similar problems here at the moment. Just going to outline our issues and hope that somebody can point us in the right direction. We have 5 rooms, of identically specced machines all running vista. The random freezing is only a majot problem in one room. Things to note : We are running all applications via microsoft application virtualisation. Freezes most often occur when running office 2007 apps (namely publisher) The machine will only recover with a forced reboot, but it is not totally dead, i.e. the computer will ping, you can access it's shares, view event viewer and initiate a remote desktop session - which justs there saying waiting for current logged on user to respond. Nothing is logged in the event viewer. I have no idea what's causing this but it is becoming a real headache. Somebody, please have a brainwave for me.

Hyper-V standalone, called Microsoft Hyper-V Server, will be released within the next 30 days apparently. It'll be coming along with System Centre Virtual Machine Manager, and Application Virtualisation 4.5. All 3 things i'm waiting for with great anticipation. Matt

I'm running 10.4 clients and server authing againsts and accessing home folders on 2008 server. Also got no problems. Matt

Anyone considering this should also consider an HP MSA2000i, got one this summer and I am totally in love with it. Matt

Has anybody noticed that adding a networked printer to a vista machine takes an age? From entering the share name to finishing normally takes upto a minute, both manually and via GPO, which is a real pain in the proverbial when adding multiple printers at logon. Adding the same printer to an XP machine takes at most 10 seconds. It looks to me like vista priotitises it's own driver cache over the drivers supplied from the print server and takes ages scanning, just wondering if anybody else had noticed this and can give me some advice on speeding it up. I've got a 6 node cluster running at the moment, glad to answer any questions you've got. Matt

Our latest batch of machines with gigabyte motherboards would only get dhcp intermittently, was a real pain in the ass as we pxe boot to image. A bios update fixed the problem though. I'd try setting them up to boot from the network card to rule out the bios as the problem. If it's not the bios it's got to be windows drivers. Have you reinstalled the machines with a fresh windows install rather than the factory install? What happens if you boot a linux live cd, that will rule out the laptop hardware as the problem. I've also seen issues with some hardware connected to certain brands of switched, have you got a different brand of switch you can plug them into to test? Matt

Oh my god I want to kiss you. Been looking for a dual tuner freesat card for a while but hadn't been able to see one. Just out of curiosity are you running 32 or 64bit on your media centre box? Matt

I set up a Vigor 3300V earlier this year using the guides available at Support Center -- Application Notes. If you're stuck with anything give me a shout, i've got it working nicely with various xp and vista clients. Matt

Any time i've come across similar issues it's been becuase the host doesn't have write permissions to the lun. Matt

I'm a similar distance to that and was on their 24meg service, was syncing at 7.5/1.3 so switched to their 8 meg service. At £14/month i'm not complaining. Matt

You are correct, if does save the image first and then expand it, which is my only bugbear with it. It isn't significantly slower than ghost, as we seem to get higher multicast transmission speed (although this may be due to testing on newer hardware). Matt

I'm using a bebox with multiple ip's, hooked up to a draytek vigor 3300 router. There is a multi ip profile that will do as you are suggesting. I don't have an issues with dropped connections and the line syncs at 14/2. Be do tend to be helpful if you've got sync problems. Maybe you should revert back to the bebox and raise a support call? Matt

I think your best bet would be to configure wds to distribute images from one server via multicast. Unfortunately I think multicast is only supported in wds on server 2008, but it might be a good chance for you to explore 2008 af you are not already. Matt
