Hi All I am having trouble remembering the name of a PC game that I played a bit probably in the early 90's. It was very dark and moody and in 2D with some pseudo 3D elements. Near the start you had to break a barrier to empty a cave of water to stop a waterfall that blocked progress. There was a tricky running jump that had to be made to avoid being killed by the water. I also remember a cave with stalagtites that you had to avoid. At the time the graphics and gameply were considered to be pretty amazing... Does anyone here have any idea what the game was called?

My personal choice would be a barcode tattooed on their foreheads...

Try using CTRL+F5 in IE to refresh the page and the cache...

Do you see all the POST info or just an image? There is usually an option to display the full POST data which may help with diagnosis

What, you reckon you will be able to afford to retire?

Hi all, I have just found that one of our HP 2300dn printers has vanished from the network. It appears that the jetdirect card has failed! HP have said I have to go to a repair centre but while browsing around the Interweb I found this page http://www.hp.com/pond/jetdirect/j6057a.html Has anyone on here seen this and have they had any joy with the warranty claim? Also has anyone got a spare card lying around anywhere that I could "borrow"?

I have stopped Office from searching online through GPO I added GAL11.adm to our learners desktop lockdown policy and then enabled Hide 'Web Collections' with enforce on ticked under Microsoft Clip Organizer -
Oh and I believe most 19" screen give the same number of pixels as 17", or are some better...

This is a problem with laptops used with IWBs and projectors. Promethean have told me they are working on a widescreen version of their products. Presumably there will have to be widescreen IWBs? The problem I have with widescreen is that while they are great for watching movies, when using software like Word or Excel they are a pain. My 17" TFT give me 1280x1024 pixels. I believe most 17" widescreen TFTs give 1280x800. Thats 224 less pixels of my document that I can see... The only solution is a much larger screen...now where did I put that budget...

Now this is definitelt just a joke...I think... Three computer professionals are in a car being driven down a switchback road in the Alps. The driver suddenly announces the brakes have failed and after a monumental struggle stops the car on the edge of a precipice in a cloud of dust. The three get out and look at the car. The first is a systems manager who says "Let's walk down the road and get help" The second is a hardware engineer who rolls up his sleeves and says "No let me get some tools and see what I can do" The third is a software engineer who says "I think we should drive on and try to reproduce the fault..."

I always thought this was just a joke!

If you know what version of windows these files were created on then you should be able to install the same set of fonts. However I have come across this problem here where documents were created using fonts that originally came from other applications (Serif products in particular) that are no longer on our systems. The only option I can see is to build a list of missing fonts and then locate and install them...bummer I have got a pretty large font collection here so if you send me a list I can try to find what you need. This reminds me of how during the space race the Americans spent millions of dollars developing a ballpoint pen that would work in zero gravity... ...the Russians took pencils.

On their web design page they list software they use... My favourites are Dream Weaver and Coral Draw

Where is the merged output being produced? Word?

I usually check the memory usage in Task Manager...Performance If the peak commit charge is larger than the total physical memory then adding more ram will help. As already stated this is more noticeable once several applications have been started.

If working in the dark does not work... Try starting in safe mode to ensure the system is working. If you can get in this way change the video driver to a basic one windows one. Then restart normally and reinstall the proper video drivers.

On most hosting platforms I have used the cgi-bin is at the same level as the public_html folder where the web pages are located. This gives some security from access via a browser. If your hosting deal includes PHP then there are loads of scripts around to send an e-mail from an HTML form.

OK can you just confirm exactly how these files are named? What is the file extension? Also are the students creating new documents or working from a template or previously saved file?

Yes, I am sure there are .asd files lurking somewhere that are not being cleared properly. See the USB example above. If users are doing something daft (natch) then disabling autorecover seems the best option...then again are users going to complain they lost work...
-
In that case try GPO Microsoft Office Excel 2003/Tools | Options.../Save/Save Autorecover Info

A helicopter is lost in fog flying over Seattle. The pilot hovers close to an office block and holds up a sign reading "Where are we?". Someone in the building holds up a sign reading "In a helicopter". The pilot realises he is in front of the Microsoft support offices. Why? Because the answer he got, whilst technically correct, was no bl**dy use to anybody!
