Hi All, here is today's mystery to solve... We have a cachepilot box here running Espresso. At about 12 noon it started playing Edvard Griegs "In the hall of the mountain king". The sound was old skool pc speaker stuff. I called Espresso support but they didn't know what would cause this...anybody here got any ideas? The music stopped after about 5-10 minutes

there is a counter in the update page that starts at 1...this should probably start at 0 as well...

try clonesuk.co.uk in Portsmouth...I have got parts from them and there prices are very good -
BTW I think your counter 'bug' is caused by staring the counter at 1 rather than 0...

to filter the codes you could either do a query per subject or use the subject to determine each subject as you loop through the recordset. As long as the codes are sorted by subject you would know that all the maths ones are together etc.
-
you need to reset the record pointer to the first record in your recordset once the first loop is done
-
you should be able to filter the codes in the dropdown by using the subject. That way they will only see valid codes for the subject involved.
-
Or you could execute a query to return any matching records from the code table against the code from the form. If any records are returned (it should be just 1 I guess) then the code is valid.
-
How many codes are there? Could you populate a dropdown with all the valid codes to avoid the problem?

Are you using roaming profiles? If the corrupted file is still on the server then when he logs back in it will be copied back to the local profile...I think...

try this... Sub update() Worksheets("Sheet1").Activate 'set first row r = 2 'set column holding target t = 2 'set column holding actual score a = 3 'select starting cell ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Select 'check if cell has a value Do While ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Value <> "" 'calculate difference from target level = getVal(ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Value) - getVal(ActiveSheet.Cells(r, t).Value) 'select colour Select Case level Case Is > 0 ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Interior.Color = RGB(153, 204, 255) Case Is = 0 ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Interior.Color = RGB(204, 255, 204) Case Is > -3 ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Interior.Color = RGB(255, 204, 0) Case Is > -4 ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Interior.Color = RGB(255, 153, 204) Case Else ActiveSheet.Cells(r, a).Interior.Color = RGB(153, 51, 0) End Select 'increment counter to next row r = r + 1 'continues to last filled row Loop End Sub Public Function getVal(score As String) getVal = Val(Left(score, 1)) * 3 + Abs(96 - Asc(Right(score, 1))) End Function

Surely a laptop with a well thought out set of software apps and internet access will be a valuable learning tool for pupils whether it is locked down or not? The users should surely be spending time using the tool not trying to redesign/break it?

Conditional formatting will do this without any conversion of the data ooops...I didn't read the original question properly...it's so cold in here today that my brain is seizing up!

How are you filling the datagrid? If it uses a query then that should use the BETWEEN command using the lower and upper values from the combo box. Your case statement would be able to create the sql statement. Does that make sense...?

Actually css is controlling which image. The tag name specifies which background image to display in the cell or div. The backend code inserts the tag name based on the value stored in the variable. A change to the css definition will change the image without changing the code. If other images were required for other values then this would only require additional css definitions.
-
I just noticed you wrote there is already a class in there so in that case I would put a div in the cell with the appropriate css id
-
If the page is dynamically generated with php/asp/jsp or similar then you could insert the text as a class name rather than the table cell contents. <% if wordVariable = "Archived" then response.write " " end if %> you can then control the image displayed via css I use this method in house point tables to fill a cell with the appropriate colour.

We have got three here that are brand new and worked fine out of the box... The only way they differ from all our other systems is they use a digital cable for video output. Could your problem be to do with the monitor?

My source view gives line 1164 as $(document).ready( could be a javascript problem...

Are you all using the same browser? The code on that site uses loads of IF tests for browser version, perhaps one of those is failing?
