Hello everyone. Need some urgent advice in regards to school server i support. the HDD currently installed is only 120gig and is full. I have bought 2 1TB hdd to replace the existing one. One will be the used for back up and the other needs to be a copy of the original one. My question is how do i do this. I have norton ghost cast server which i can use, but will it expand the partition?. I dont want to clone it and find that it is exactly the same size as the old HDD and all the extra space is lost. Also the existing HDD has to Partitions, will be able to copy both across. Thanks Your help is much appreciated. Bats

Hi, Thank you all for your help. i have finally sorted it. I Logged on as Administrator, copied the short cut to a pen drive, went to the server and navigated to the Teacher profile custom desktop and copied into that. went back to the laptop, logged on as teacher and hey presto it was there and works fine. What a load of hassel. i must learn an easier way. Thanks again and im off home now to my lovely wife and dustbin lids. Back in September now, so have a lovely summer. i'll still be logging on so dont worry. Bats

HI, Logged in as Administrator, and tried to copy the short cut to Teacher desktop by opening up custom folders. i went \\HS-Server\Staffcustomfolders\desktop, This opens up the Teacher profile desktop and tried to copy it there and im getting a message "Cannot copy Clicker5: Access Denied--- Make sure disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use. Bats Oh the answer the other option that Aptproductions stated about doing theorugh GPO. sorry i havent a clue how to do that. Thanks

Hi, what im i doing wrong. Installed it onto the server and it created a MSI. logged onto laptop and navigated to the msi on the server, ran it and all ok. desktop icon appeared. restarted the computer, logged on as Teacher and no desktop icon. checked in start-Programs and nothing. how do i get it onto the desktop.

just installed it onto the server, and now going to install onto the laptop which is connected to the network. touch wood (my head) all will be fine Bats

Hello. need your help urgently. i am installing a program onto one Laptop which is used by the SEN dept. The software is licensed for one pc and is called Clicker 5. So i logged onto the computer as the Administrator installed the program and all is fine. however when i log off then log back in as Teacher onto the network the Clicker program is not available. how do i make it available to the Teacher profile. i cant put the short cut into the teacher desktop either. what have i done wrong, i know its simple but i cant think. Please can you guys help ASAP. im only in till 4 today then back in September. so would like to resolve this today. Thanks in advance. Have a great summer holiday guys. Bats

hi everyone. the pc doesnt post and you cant do anything like get into the bios or press F8. you just have to keep restarting or remove the memory and re install it and then it may refire up. cant be the TFT as i have tried a CRT and another TFT screen and does the same. Thanks

I have another problem now, and its happening with 2 pc's. i keep getting a "no input signal" message and nothing is diplayed on my screen. lets start with PC1. i have changed the Memory and removed the VGA card and connected to the onboard graphics. and all worked fine, i ran pc for around a hour and bang same thing again "NO INPUT SIGNAL" restarted and getting the same. removed the new Memory i installed and refitted it and all ok again, then it goes again. keeps happening all the time. somtimes needs to be restarted 5-6 times before ok. then goes again. PC2. ASUS Barebones. core2. built by me. installed a new hard drive with xp sp2 and new 2 gig Kingston RAM useing the onboard Graphics card. all was ok then started to get "NO INPIT SIGNAL" restart pc and "NO INPUT SIGNAL". restart it a few times and it fires up again. then after a while it freezes like when i was installing NERO. restarted and again "NO INPUT SIGNAL". both pc have an ASUS mother board, though both are different. Getting realy Cheesed off now. any help please. there are no error beeps when you start up pc's. did a memory test and all ok. could it be a heat sink problem, psu or motherboard as memory is Brand new. Please help. getting fustrated and ready to throw out of window. Thanks in advance to all who reply with help. Bats

Hi everyone. i have a sony vaio and recently i kept getting operating system not found. i replaced the HDD and installed Vista and all was well for a couple of weeks. now it does the same and keep getting operating system not found. i check the bios and no HDD is detected, then restart and it will be there. so in brief sometimes you have to restart it 3 or 4 times before the hard drive is detected and it works. other times no matter how many times you restart it i get operating system not found. any ideas, please help. Hello Everyone. my friend has set up a Internet cafe with 5 Pc's, he is looking for a software to be able to time internet access as he charges hourly. i was wondering if there is a simple program to put on each pc so when a user goes onto the internet it starts a timer, and then a reminder pops up say 5 mins from the end of the hour, and to make it even better it logs him off after his time is up. Any ideas please. this would be good at our school aswell i think. as the kids are a nightmare. Our kids have now access to sooooo many anomynous proxys we cant keep up. any ideas on this aswell. hi again. i have just wiped a pc and reinstalled windows xp on it. when i go Right click my computer, properties and then device manager i have a few yellow question marks for which i have searched for 4 hours solid to get their drivers and no joy. please some one help. the computer is a Advent T9303. its P4 3.80GHz with 1.00 GB ram its got service pack 2 on it and i have done the updates from microsoft. please help
